TX: Cheerleader dropped from squad for not cheering sexual assailant, must pay up by court

Get kicked off the cheerleading squad for not cheerleading? Seems reasonable to me.
It's really more about the self-attributed importance from society, and by extension, the players.
It's fucking ridiculous how so much energy and so many resources are spent so a bunch of people get to watch a bunch of dudes run around kicking a ball.
Bloody damn retarded.
Don't blame them, the only reason they get payed that much is because people pour so much money into it, because they enjoy it.
So cheerleaders in Texas have no free speech of their own, how legal.

Nobody was forcing her to stay on the cheer team. She willingly stayed enrolled in the school, AND stayed on the cheer team. The more I think about it the more I'm starting to doubt she was even actually raped, why would she even go to the game? It isn't like she thinks he isn't going to be there.

Fixed it for ya.
Aren't sports cults just wonderful?
Because who cares that they're a group of useless, petulant, credulous wretches, they can throw balls around. Fuck the rape victim, we need to beat that other group of useless, petulant, credulous wretches so that we can say we're the best.
But our team's ball/puck went into the goal/endzone/basket/over the net by being kicked/thrown/hit with stick more times than your team's
If she was raped by him why the fuck would she stay in the same school let alone stay on the cheer team while he's playing for the school?
And as bad as getting raped is, a cheerleaders job is to cheer, it didn't matter who she didn't cheer for it was the fact that she refused to cheer for her school. It isn't freedom of speech if you put your own monologue in the school play, neither is it when you ignore practiced routines that you're supposed to be doing in an extra curricular activity. If she didn't want to cheer for him quit the fucking cheer team. The rest of the team worked their ass off to make their school look good and you're sitting there with your arms crossed.

Oh, and just saying, when you bring somebody into court and lose, you generally pay legal fees. From a legal stand point she had no case. If they didn't want to risk having to pay them they shouldn't have taken the school to court.
Bigby, you're ever a source of amusement on these forums. Don't ever change.

What was with the distinct influx of stupid people in April? It was a really marked increase in that specific month, for some reason.

I try
What the actual fuck is going on in Texas?
What does this have to do with Texas, this was a Federal lawsuit which completely bypassed Texas, how can you blame Texas on this?
I can't comment on whether she was actually raped or not. Bolton was only charged with a misdemeanor assault. We don't have any right to assume or even imagine what actually happened to her without more detail. Let's just assume he did something minor, probably drunk. He probably regretted it and apologized. We don't know.
The girl was volunteering as a cheerleader for her school but refused to cheer someone because of a personnel history. Bolton wasn't banned from playing basketball and the school cheerleaders are required to cheer. She did not cheer. She was removed from the team.
Her parents sued the school because she was removed form the team because she refused to cheer a member of the team. They lost that case and were required to pay the fee as they should have expected for losing the case.
So whether bolton deserved worse we have no right to argue without more evidence. What we can say for sure is that her parents were stupid to try and sue the school.
People should never be quick to judge, you should only ever look at the evidence not the opinion of the poster :D

No let's not assume that you misogynistic prick
What does this have to do with Texas, this was a Federal lawsuit which completely bypassed Texas, how can you blame Texas on this?
Easy. The OP states that "Lower courts" had made the decision that she was obliged to cheer on behalf of the school. i.e. Texas courts.
No let's not assume that you misogynistic prick
Lets assume he was charged with a misdemeanor assault then. a charge so minor he wasn't even disciplined by the school.
Don't call me a prick. You don't know me. Just because I won't judge a guy I don't even know because some guy on facepunch denounced him doesn't make me misogynist. I neither think he was right or she was right. If you told me he violently raped her and showed me the evidence I would happily share your judgement. Until then why don't you spend more thinking about what you say before you say it, you ignorant twat.

Uh, no, the lower courts can mean the 5th District Federal Court and/or the various Court of Appeals

Why is rape the only crime that is so often dismissed like this
Makes me physically sick
What was with the distinct influx of stupid people in April? It was a really marked increase in that specific month, for some reason.
April fools. :smugdog:
So if the school tells you to jump off the empire state building with no safety equipment what so ever. I'm legally obligated to do it? Fuck that noise.

The crime was a "misdemeanor assault", not rape. He doesn't seem to have been punished though so we must assume he can't have done anything too serious, unless you have evidence to suggest otherwise.
Are you so gullible that you believe only the first thing someone tells you? The courts didn't punish the boy therefore I'm prepared to believe she is probably exaggerating her claim. By all means tell me otherwise if you can prove it. But you can't and that's the point I'm trying to make. Your too judgmental. Read the evidence not the OP's opinion

plea bargain

Cases like this, especially high school rape, are really hard to put on trial because the guys who usually end up raping are popular so they get it through their thick skulls the girls want it. This means that most people would be against the victim going to trial which only make her feel worse. I agree...I wanna puke all over this basketball player.
American educational system in a nutshell
This has absolutely nothing to do with the United States educational system.
Retarded oversea teens who have no idea what they are talking about in a nutshell.
As to the on topic, this is really dumb. Than again, this is Texas, a state that I would be more than happy to see leave the Union (And the continent).

Because getting raped means the victim is in the wrong.
Get out please. You shit up every thread with your shitty theories.

Popular? I can't imagine his high school contacts are so important they could influence a federal court. You seem to have decided what "most people" would be against as well. How exactly did you obtain that information? did you conduct a survey? or did you watch a movie where all the children are played by 30 year olds and decided your judgement on that.
