Homeworld 3 plz.
I don't think 40k total war would work because all the guns and shit.
Although they're already supposed to be making a Warhammer Total war game.
I think that's an actual Warhammer game though, not 40k.
A good middle ground between Company of Heroes and Total War would make a great 40k game if you ask me. Wouldn't expect the rank and file style of combat in a Total War game would do well with the sort of firepower available in 40k but it has the scale, while the small scale combat of Company of Heroes wouldn't lend itself to the scale that 40k has to offer but it has that combat system that really makes use of the environment like you'd expect soldiers to do when there's explosive bullets flying everywhere.
I really don't have enough experience with Sega-published games outside of the Total War series, Universe at War(Which I think in the end was best medicore, I couldn't really get into it), and Metro 2033.
But none of the less, I hope they don't fuck up Dawn of War 3 or CoH 2.
But it'll be better than EA or Ubisoft getting their hands on them.
Commander Boreale as unlockable character in All Stars Racing
make it so
Sega is a pretty good publisher, from my experience. Sad to see THQ go, but it's good that Relic will fall into good hands.
Sega publish Homeworld 3 and I will buy every single sonic game and play them 4 times and become CWC please please i promise

Why it would not work? Give every unit chance to fire on the move with less accuracy, give infantry units ability to take cover automatically like in DOW2 and COH.
Add couple of new unit types: tanks, heavy tanks and titans. Give them specific anti-unit.
With a little changes that "basic" Total War engine could easily hold WH40K game, especially when professionals are doing that change.
So being owned by a company gives the owned company complete autonomy?
Then why are so many studios that ea and activist on bought dead
Because that's what happens if a developer makes shitty games- either they get released from their contract, or the publisher steps in and starts making more decisions for them. If they release hits, the publisher will be more than happy to sit back and rake in the money.
A company like Relic has a long and successful enough history to get largely free reign.

40k is so far divorced from reality that it would work alright in the Total War engine. Most troops in 40k don't take cover, Napoleonic lines of infantry are a Good Idea, and it's possible to close from outside of rifle range to point blank in the open before the enemy can get a single shot off- then you beat them with your fists, which is more damaging than your gun.
It couldn't do realistic, modern warfare but 40k would be just fine.
Some of you forget that Sega is behind one of the most popular PC franchises out right now called Football Manager. They picked up the Championship Manager franchise in 04/05 and completely rebranded it (to football manager). They know what they are doing.
Sorry sega but I wouldn't trust you with a fucking napkin after your recent escapades.
This is probably the best realistic possible outcome for all of this.
It doesn't matter who publishes the game, the effects on the final result will be insignificant or non-existent.
If JK Rowling had switched publishers from Bloomsbury to Harper-Collins after the third Harry Potter book, do you think the writing would change? Do you think the publisher might say 'Okay, we like this, but we need you to release it in micro-installments so we can charge more, and also more sex and violence please'?
Of course not. A publisher might have requirements or make changes for a new developer (with games) or writer (with books), but once a success or two is released they stay hands-off. Any well-known author could write for any publisher and the publisher wouldn't dictate changes. The same goes for games companies.
I can't understand all this hate for EA/Sega/Bethesda as a publisher. They don't fuck with proven companies. Relic is absolutely proven.
Edit: The worst they could do is have Relic release a few titles, then shut them down. That's not Sega's track record and Relic's done well with its recent RTSes.
I can understand the hate for Bethesda as a publisher considering Obsidian was screwed out of a lot of money because they got one below their required meta critic score on Fallout New Vegas.
You and that other guy do realize they had 3 full story based DLCs or don't you give a shit? I guess you have to argue with shitty points when that's your argument

A lot of them went overbudget or failed to reach profit margins.
That's the disadvantage of being signed in with a publisher. You get your funding, but you might be fucked if you don't deliver.
nope nope nope nope nope
Wouldn't even trust them with a Q-Tip after the recent crap they pulled on YouTube where they went on massive DMCA banning sprees for anyone hosting videos involving their games - be it footage or merely talking about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k84i3Op-LQI&feature=player_detailpage#t=859s
That is entirely SEGA's responsibility, no matter how shitty the Sonic Games.

please research EA and what they have done to over a handful of amazing and strong studios who made nothing but good games until EA got a hold of them.
Publishers DO play a role in development. It just depends on the publisher how much they do.
Yeeeeeah, better them than EA. if Ea got anywhere near warhammer 40k i would be very VERY concerned.
and before anyone accuses me of just following the EA hate- EA only cares about money, not a bad thing on its own, but they have proven time and time again they will change key elements of what makes games and stories great to attract a wider audience.
Any game set in Warhammer 40k needs huge amounts of care when writing the plot, lest it start trampling the amazing amount of back story it already has- Couple this with the fact it already has a dedicated fanbase prone to massive bouts of nerd rage, and you are looking at the worst possible recipiant of an audience broadening scheme.

See ya guys, I'm gonna hide in a bunker now, I can hear the anger coming

All hail Matt Ward: Mastrubator of ultramarines
uh no
can you imagine relic combining with Creative assembly to make a 40k total war?
or a space marine in sonic all stars racing transformed screaming heresy at flying hedgehogs
Imagine the Tyranid armies
But tbh that would be badass in general
nope nope nope nope nope

And here I thought their mad spree stopped, checking the comments didn't know AVGN got temp banned due to it as well.
I can't tell if this is serious or not
Check Steam's most played games, Football Manager has been #2 for ages now
Imagine the Tyranid armies

Haven't you heard? In the ultrasmurfs are so good that the tyranids are no longer a threat. All courtesy of matt ward.
SEGA is big on PC strategy right now. If one can imagine Relic, Total War, Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40K, and Warhammer - all under the same umbrella, it's easy to see how buying the zombie Homeworld brand for peanuts would make sense for SEGA.
I mean, Crytek bought Homefront for $500k and that's considered expensive, how much do you think Homeworld would sell for? With SEGA's care for PC strategy and with Relic under their arm, this would be a match made in heaven.
As soon as the news about THQ's issues started I've always wondered about Relic, they're one of my favourite companies. As a massive 40k/WH fanboy the last thing I wanted was to see Relic die, or go into bad hands.
I am quite happy if Sega buy Relic. As long as there is still 40k games being released, and at a decent if not better quality I'm a happy fan.
Please SEGA, recognise our claim to this game.
The sacrifice of thousands of good developers has left a trail of destruction, like a path across the world.
Save Relic from EA.
Save our Homeworld.

You would think your "holy" valve which alot of you "worship" would buy relic.
At least Relic will fit nicely at SEGA. I think SEGA have realised the mistakes they've made in the past and are beginning to return to form (past two years have been good for them)
Oh and people at NeoGAF are saying Ubisoft are going for South Park Stick of Truth but there's some difficulties with South Park Digital Studios and licensing at the moment. God, UPlay and Obsidian together, most unplayable PC game ever

one could only hope.
