Rumor: Sega is trying to get relic from the THQ Auction

I think the Total War series is evidence enough that SEGA can support great RTS developers. Hope it turns out well for Relic

Can't be worse than EA, that's for sure. I'm all for it.
I don't think 40k total war would work because all the guns and shit.
Why not? It doesn't have to play exactly like traditional Total War titles on the field with strict formations and shit. It can keep the large scale and the map mode, but on the field it could play like a mix of TW and, say, Wargame: EE.
Homeworld
Oh I'd love a new Homeworld as much as the next guy, but it'd be "adapted for modern audiences". I'd rather leave the franchise in peace.
I can't tell if this is serious or not
Football Manager is one of the most popular PC franchises. Just look at Steam's most played list.
All hail Matt Ward: Mastrubator of ultramarines
Hating Ward is so 2010. Hell, his Necrons were alright.
Please SEGA, recognise our claim to this game.
The sacrifice of thousands of good developers has left a trail of destruction, like a path across the world.
Save Relic from EA.
Save our Homeworld.

This, THIS so fucking much, Please! Make Homeworld 3!
I'd be quite happy if Sega got them, much better than if EA or Activision ended up with Relic.

Although they're already supposed to be making a Warhammer Total war game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_(game)

40k is so far divorced from reality that it would work alright in the Total War engine. Most troops in 40k don't take cover, Napoleonic lines of infantry are a Good Idea, and it's possible to close from outside of rifle range to point blank in the open before the enemy can get a single shot off- then you beat them with your fists, which is more damaging than your gun.
It couldn't do realistic, modern warfare but 40k would be just fine.
Most troops in W40K actually do take cover. Necrons and Tyranids wouldn't but the rest would. Napoleonic lines of infantry also aren't involved at all except for certain Imperial Guard regiments. No idea where you've got the idea that you can get close to the enemy before they can fire either, or somehow using fists would do more damage than a gun.
In many cases it's pretty much the same as modern day warfare. It would have to be nothing like the other Total War games to work.
It'd be pretty neat to have a chart showing where all their IP's went.
can you imagine relic combining with Creative assembly to make a 40k total war?
Under the 40k rules, there's little point to putting Marines and similar in cover. A 5+ save against only weapons powerful enough to beat your armor isn't very useful.

Battles are largely fought out in the open with masses of troops, it is very little like real combined arms. No overwatch, no fire and advance, no suppression.

Squad moves, squad has 12" range now, enemy is 13" away. Enemy unit moves, runs, assaults without taking any fire. Dedicated assault armies with Fleet and transports can be in melee from turn 1 without ever getting shot at. Shooting is weak enough that melee troops can assault straight across open terrain and win. 40k makes melee strong enough that it's on par with ranged combat.

Guardsmen are S3 for either.
My point is that 40k has really nothing whatsoever to do with real war strategy or tactics, or realism for that matter. It is full of rules that are internally consistent but make zero sense in real life. It's basically fantasy with lasers, and that would work just fine in the Total War engine.

The Tabletop rules do not accurately represent how things actually are. 40K itself (as in the universe/fluff) has plenty of real world strategy and tactics.
What i said is true, just not so much in the TableTop game. People want a Total War style game set in the W40K universe, not a Total War style game with TableTop rules. TableTop has little relevance to the majority of the W40K background or the video games.

Aside from Creative Assembly which is an INDEPENDENT company, SEGA's track record is horrendous in both quality of games and aftermarket support.

The Creative Assembly is not an independent company, it is a subsidiary of Sega Europe.
