I do like the idea of "Check this box if you wish to pay a flat X% tax rate". Make it higher than normal taxes would bring the rate to. Basically allow the filthy rich to help their country.
agreed, although I say let the person checking the box choose how much to increase it by
Okay, this I can be more comfortable about. This is good.
Makes sense. They say the more money you have the smarter you tend to be and not even self interest can get in the way of what you know to be right.

Decay and pestilence with small doses of fear?
It would probably help the businesses if they did.
What do Conservatives smell like? Decay and pestilence with small doses of fear?
Old dirty money and cocaine The extremist Conservatives at least. [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] also, cigars and sweat
What do Conservatives smell like? Decay and pestilence with small doses of fear?
Old people. You'd know the odor if you've ever been at a retirement home. And it's not a pleasant one.
And yet, jack shit is getting changed it's like the government isn't listening to ANYONE, even the people they're trying to "protect the rights of"
That's because this 68% isn't the 68% that's funding their campaigns and giving them incentives.
Why not 50% tax for all the mega-wealthy? Then if they donate money to institutions/charity, their tax can be cut by the amount they give away.
sometimes it seems like the government acts on the interests of people they made up rather than the actual people
My family gets by on 30k a year. That's with taxes, college, food, house, and electricity and water.
My family gets by on 30k a year. That's with taxes, college, food, house, and electricity and water.
I find that hard to believe unless you're either living in a trailer, have massive debt, or have incredibly wealthy relatives.
Why not 50% tax for all the mega-wealthy? There is plenty of corruption in charities and such. Besides, they already get tax cuts for donations, same as everyone else. Personally, after hitting a certain income level, you should be ineligible for any tax breaks, you have to pay the whole thing.
