You need to chill out with all these space threads that no one cares about. (User was banned for this post ("Don't care? Oh, they deployed IKAROS already? I thought the deployment was delayed. Oh well, it's great to hear updates about this. IKAROS represents the future of space-travel: Solar sails. That is, until we perfect ion drives. [editline]10:35AM[/editline] Wouldn't they be able to fix this problem by attaching stabilizing thrusters to the side? I mean, it's not like it's rotating with much force, so a small thrust once a day should be able to stop the rotation, right?
space sails are slow as shit though.
Not after acceleration. And it doesn't require fuel, so it's much better for long space voyages.
solar sails seem like they'd be alright for an earth<->moon trip [editline]01:51PM[/editline] but i don't know how well they'd do to bring something to the other side of the solar system

holy fuck, they're developing space boats.
to sail the cosmic ocean with Carl Sagan and what not.
holy fuck, they're developing space boats.
One step closer to space vikings
If it's acting as a pinwheel how could they possibly stop it from rotating?
One step closer to space vikings
Holy shit. I can't even describe how unfair it is that I probably won't live long enough to witness that.
unless you pillage a space boat from the japanese like a true space viking and claim the moon as your own
Then blow up a few nukes, put the Moon in a collission course with the Earth, and hold the entire world hostage.
