I got a fucking iPod touch, I tried finding games for it too, there's a shitload of casual bullcrap that shouldn't even be defined as gaming, and if you think its a gaming device because you play on it all the time, you're a casual too who needs to stop getting his ass licked by the industry.
Um, except that I play casual games on my Ipod Touch, and serious games on my PC. And since when was casual gaming not gaming at all?
[editline]22nd April 2011[/editline]
I would consider something I play games on a gaming device.
Call me what you will, but if they could give us an editor for FarCry 2 on console, does that mean they will give us CRY3 on the xbox 360 and PS3 as well or what? I couldn't undestand the context.
Are you serious?
[editline]22nd April 2011[/editline]
Is that what "Gaming" is to you? Angry Birds?

I bet you you played good shooter games on it, with those super-accurate controls and really responsive interfaces and such, yea. I played some extremely good shooter games on consoles, too, like Black Ops, but not really, because consoles and touch devices are not suited AT ALL to that genre.
And if you want to play racing games on that because it has that shiny little motion sensor or however its called, fine, and I agree on that one, racing games do work better on the iPod and iPad than on PC or consoles, but hey, if I was really into racing and not just some casual, I'd buy a steering wheel joystick and have the best of all solutions. On PC. With the best graphics too. Or on consoles. With good racing exclusives. Not the god damn ipad.

Let me rephrase that. Apple markets them as gaming devices to get casuals like you to believe they are. But they're not. Apple is lying to you. Who would have expected that from such an honest company.
[editline]22nd April 2011[/editline]
Because it takes time away from developing and optimizing for platforms that can actually utilize the power of these engines. That's why. Leave casual mobile gaming to Unity. They can handle it.
your bullshit elitism aside, why would you want anything but a casual game on a mobile device? Angry Birds is a great mobile game because it's something you can play in spurts. A level takes maybe a minute or two to play. Most of the great games on the ipod don't require copious amounts of time or attention to play.

Right you little wankstain how dare you call me a casual :saddowns:, your steam avatar is of DIRT 2. Everyone knows Dirt 2 is a Casual version of Dirt 1.

I didn't even buy the game. If you're searching through my Steam Profile to find stupid arguments, at least look at the fucking games list before making ridiculous assumptions about what I play or not play.

I don't want non-casual games on mobile devices, I don't want developers of high-end engines to give those devices attention that they could spend on optimizing and improving the actual CryEngine or UnrealEngine for high-powered platforms.
...anyways, anyone know what language you code in for this?
[editline]22nd April 2011[/editline]
Ah, C++ code access. Nice. Might have to try this out.

I was making an argument as stupid as yours.
Wasent their an editor in the leaked version of crysis 2?
Wasent their an editor in the leaked version of crysis 2?
I was just about to mention this. The editor was definitely in the leaked build.

what do you want them to do? sit on their money and not attempt to expand? it's not like the Unreal Engine being on the mobile devices has halted the progress of UE3. have you not been paying any attention to what they've been doing with it recently?

Yeah and Lua for higher level stuff.
I remember not being able to run Crysis sandbox or SDK for my lack of a 64 bit OS
Crysis' 64-bit executable didn't even work, and the 64-bit editor was unstable as fuck compared to the 32-bit one. Only Wars and Warhead had decent 64-bit support.
Such good news for the modding community.
However,
Who gives a shit! The fucking ipod touch or iphone is not a GAMING DEVICE.
PS. Apple sucks.
I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I am not going to start a fight, just a minor discussion. Apple, in my opinion, does not suck. They have the most efficient and quality technical support I have ever seen. They make breakthroughs in user-friendly technology. Almost everyone I know has an iPod or iPhone or at least some kind of iDevice. The tablet market is also currently dominated by them. They also have a great quality operating system. Not to mention friggin iTunes which is obviously a household name for most people.
And, the iDevices are most definitely gaming devices. Sure, they perform their primary functions as being a phone or media player but they take handheld gaming far. The AppStore lets anyone game. Although casual games work best, there are great apps for hardcore gamers as well (Infinity Blade is a prime example.) Also, it is revolutionary in the way game distribution works. It is extremely simple to download an app. It literally takes 2 taps to get your game. They are NOT mainstream gaming devices (consoles and pc's) but they are gaming devices with great capabilites.
Apple, like ALL companies have flaws like pricing and stuff but they do not suck and iDevices are gaming devices.
PS: I am not trying to start a flame war, I am just stating my opinion and backing it up with facts.

I've bolded everything that is wrong in your statement.
Also, the only reason everyone you know has an iPod or iPhone is 1: you only hang around with applefags or 2: it's because of the way the market played out. apple got in there early with the smartphones, but it doesn't mean they are the best. Far from it. Same thing goes with tablets.
I also didn't bold your statement "iDevices are most definitely gaming devices", because sure, you can develop CASUAL games for them, like Angry Birds or Doodle Jump, but there is no way in HELL a hardcore gamer is going to "game" on ANY iDevice, period.
It's not revolutionary either, by the way. Ever heard of downloads? Steam perhaps?
Apple is just one big flaw.
SO YEAH ABOUT CRYENGINE
sounds good. Can't wait.
hahahahahahahaha that Crash Bandicoot.
I want that crash bandicoot!
Please remake Crash Team Racing and make it multiplayer!

Not just on any iDevice, but on any phone. It's nearly impossible on 9 button phones and on touchscreen phone you can only play casual games because they don't have any buttons at all. The only phone I would consider a gaming device is the Xperia Play.

Just revamp Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and the racing games and I think we'll be set.
The only reason it won't go onto IOS is because compared to Unreal Engine 3, CryEngine is not optimised well at all.
The only reason it won't go onto IOS is because compared to Unreal Engine 3, CryEngine is not optimised well at all.
I don't know how much more can you optimize when everything runs in realtime.
Episode 1 Pod Racer in CryENGINE, it needs to be done.
I don't know how much more can you optimize when everything runs in realtime.
Unreal engine does everything in real time too, you don't HAVE to bake lighting.
Unreal engine does everything in real time too, you don't HAVE to bake lighting.
Yeah it runs much slower then. Running dynamic lights on iphone will not work.
Yeah it runs much slower then. Running dynamic lights on iphone will not work.
Who's talking about doing that on IOS? CryEngine 3 would be gimped on there too. UDK on IOS doesn't even support shadowmapping so.
Who's talking about doing that on IOS? CryEngine 3 would be gimped on there too. UDK on IOS doesn't even support shadowmapping so.
Uh, what's the point of a 100% realtime engine just to gimp it to be not realtime anymore?
The whole point of CE is that it's realtime.
Also really no shadowmaps? What? Then how do they make light? It doesn't make any sense. Even unity ios supports lightmaps.
Far Cry in CryEngine3.
:droll:

If there's an FC3 this will be a probability.
This is cool I guess

Shadowmaps not lightmaps. You know, for dynamic lighting?
