Or maybe they do a movie that is completely unfocused on the jedi and barely cameos them.
I'm not sure how well a Star Wars movie without a lightsaber fight would go over. It's apparently the most popular weapon in film history.
Besides the fact that they cater to an audience so young that they haven't read a comic book in their life.
It's a mainstream movie, would you really expect them to make an extremely faithful adaptation of the exact avengers as depicted in every single issue that has ever featured them ? Get real. Of course most people who have seen the movie have never read a comic book in their life, probably because it's really fucking expensive, really fucking confusing and because they have better things to do than dedicate half their past time to read a ton of contradictory stories about superheroes with so much alternative universes you could write a book the size of five bibles and still miss some of them.

Everything you said is true, and I understand it, but its down in my book of gripes.
A movie set in the Old Republic era would be awesome if done right.
The only thing I'm afraid of about jedis is that they'd really overuse the lightsabers. It's supposed to be the jedi's last resort weapon, both shield and sword, you actually don't see it that often in the original trilogy. Hell, Palpatine never ever holds one in the entirety of the original trilogy. Then in the prequel trilogy everyone has one, they wave it around like maniacs, they arm it at any occasion and even siths suddenly carry them. Even the freaking kids have one. Of course in the empire strikes back you do see Luke use it often especially in the first part of the movie, but that makes sense since he's not even close to being a jedi yet. When he actually goes to training, he uses it once, when he wasn't supposed to. So yeah, lightsaber overuse is bad and is going to be there for sure.
Needs Kyle katarn
Needs Kyle katarn
Why bother putting Katarn on screen when the interesting part of his life has already been shown in a very good series of games.

Maybe it's because I grew up with the prequels, but I don't think that kind of ideology around Jedi and their weapons seems all that interesting anymore.
I want a KOTOR movie.

In the prequels it's like "OH HEY SOME RANDOM ISSUE LIGHTSABER TIME I GUESS" Also the dark side is supposed to not have lightsabers because it's powerful enough not to need a lightsaber, hence why you see vader stopping bullets with his hand, chocking people to death with his mind and palpatine spawning motherfucking lightning out of his hands. Then all the sith lords afterward used lightsabers because they aren't metal enough to SHOOT FUCKING LIGHTNING.
What does this mean for Star Wars 1313?

This includes deflecting blaster shots without having to actually fight the aggressor.
I think the reason that light sabers are used so much in the prequel trilogy is because the Jedi are at war for pretty much the entire series.
To be honest I've also grown with the prequels and I don't recall ever watching the original trilogy in its original form. But I just find the idea of fleshed out characters with an interesting lore with a central ideology/religion that isn't based on mindless violence more interesting than "LOOK LASER SWORDS THAT GO WOOSH" for several hours. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
I always interpreted the lightsaber as a survival tool more than a weapon. This includes deflecting blaster shots without having to actually fight the aggressor.
They actually really emphasized on that in the bonuses that come with the first DVD collection of the original trilogy. They explain that lightsabers were not only supposed to be much heavier at first, but that jedis were very clearly trained to use them as shields, not as weapons. And you can see why such a weapon would be used defensively. It's a fucking beam that can destroy anything, if you start swinging that around sooner or later you're going to separate some of your own lips from your body. Holding it steady and only dealing sure strikes with it while keeping it close as a shield for incoming laser shots sounds way safer and wiser, and it sounds like something a jedi would actually do. Why do they need more than, say, two knights to deal with an army of inefficient metal robots that get one-shot by your weapon of choice ? Now that we mention the clone war, why are the jedi even at war ? They're supposed to be regulators and diplomats, they shouldn't direct an army let alone fight on the field right in the open. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
What does this mean for Star Wars 1313?
This game looked really nice. The gameplay mechanics looked a bit dull but the mere fact it's a game about star wars but NOT about jedis got me interested. Republic Commando was great for that matter.
republic commando 2 please and thank you
I don't think we'll see that happen. That game was so good and it felt so mature. It was great to see a star wars game with actual shooting, more guns than just laser rifles, and oh gosh actual blood spurting out everywhere.
Now that we mention the clone war, why are the jedi even at war ? Survived the Death Star explosion and landed on one of the lakes of Endor.
Luke will have to teach Mickey Mouse the way of the force so he can develop more sequels with the weatherman CEO
I hope it isn't based off any EU material, I wan original stories, there is a rumour that 7-9 are original Stories. Lucas apparently has worked on rough story drafts for the movies, but hes only going to be a consultant on the actual movie, so we'll see.

man i don't give a fuck what they do with the series just release the original trilogy theatrical version on bluray/dvd you fucking clods
Wiki says main cast is already chosen for three 20 year old actors Either its Wiki joke or bullshit
I definitely want a movie about Darth Bane establishing the rule of two. It might also be a bit dark but anything dealing with the Sith is bound to be less than puppies and cupcakes. Seeing a visual representation of Kaan's thought bomb other than a comic would be pretty amazing.
hayden christianson as old han solo :allears:

There is no standing army of the Republic until the clones are pressed in to service in the end of the 2nd movie. Up until then the Jedi have been serving as the galaxies peacekeeping force/defenders of the Republic. With the emergence of open war the Jedi are pressed into service in the Grand Army of the Republic as generals. As we learn in the third movie, this was all part of Palpatine's plan. In the final battle at the end of the 2nd movie, they send like 300 Jedi to rescue anakin and company because no one knew about the existence of the Clone Army yet. To assure that Anakin and company is rescued the Jedi Council gathers up ever available Jedi to send them on the rescue mission. Then there is that one awesome scene when all the clones arrive with Yoda and the entire planet becomes a massive battleground. Man, I have so much nostalgia right now. Say what you want about the six SW movies, but I loved them all as a kid. Yes, even the Phantom Menace.
The thing is with original stories, is that it's going to fuck up the EU is massive ways.
Here's the question though: Do you think Disney bought this so they could make movies based only on existing material? I don't. I think the last thing Disney wants is to be locked into using only certain stories or characters. Now that they own Star Wars, they are going to take in in new directions, directions they choose. It's like when people buy a house. Do they keep the same color paint, carpet, and the same furniture as the previous owner? No, they make it their own and change things.
Would be better if Star Wars "7" was before any of the six existing movies. There's barely anything you can talk about, and even though the end of SW6 was pretty cliché, it was a satisfying closure that didn't really leave anything open for sequels. The sith are well buried, the galaxy is at peace and Luke goes to probably recreate the jedi academy. No need for anything beyond that point. There's plenty of room before all of that though, so I'd rather have them make a potentially crap movie centuries before the existing saga.
they could talk about how the rebellion starts to mimic the original empire after it's gained control

Why are people acting like the movies are all gonna be fluffy bunnies now that Disney owns it? Disney owns Marvel, were you unsatisfied with the violence in Avengers? Pirates of the Caribbean? Shit, those movies are way darker and more violent than Star Wars.
Well the idea behind jedi knights is that they can fucking wreck your ass in no time, but they won't because they'll try diplomacy first, and because you're probably not worth the effort. It was because he has a mandalorian crush gauntlet for one of his hands which he used to stop the shots. It being made of Beskar(Mandalorian iron) Would be quite immune to such a petty weapon. His glove has the myth of being indestructible.
