Why do people keep assuming if they make a movie it'll be based on a shitty book or comic or whatever? If they'll make a new movie, they'll just probably just think something up instead.
Vader stopping Hans energy bolts with his hand wasn't because of the force. It was because he has a mandalorian crush gauntlet for one of his hands which he used to stop the shots. It being made of Beskar(Mandalorian iron) Would be quite immune to such a petty weapon. His glove has the myth of being indestructible.
When the ever loving fuck was that ever mentioned in the movie? Answer: never, so people assume it was the force because that's the only thing they were shown being able to do w/e the fuck.

Shitty books? what the hell have you been reading? All the books I've read are quite good and are awesome. I'd honestly would hate them if I was an author for one of the books and all my time spent on writing was suddenly voided and not recognized. Oh wait...that did happen to someone with the Clonewars cartoon with the Republic Commando books.
only the original 3 movies are canon all other movies, tv shows, books, comics, video games are a lie
At first I was really worried about the announcement of the new movies but now I'm actually starting to get excited. We know Disney has great movies and a solid reputation and with George as a creative consultant I can see these heading in the right direction.
Plus the thought of seeing a new Star Wars movie in the cinemas again... hnngg nostalgia
I'm cautiously optimistic

His point that it wasn't in the movie so you can't expect the standard watcher to know it stands.
As for EU material, that's the risk you take when you write for a setting you don't own
old republic plz
more Katarn pls
revan katarn meetup
I hope Boba Fett shows up.
He's my hero.
My take on the 7th film would be that Skywalker finds an old Jedi temple on an overgrown forest planet, and is training a younger (~20 year old) set of people to use the force to expand the knowledge to the free people of the planet and eventually the galaxy. but what happens is that the temple has a hidden secret that releases a dark power that attracts another race from far(ther) away and they have to defend the temple and either destroy the secret unlocked or use it for the power of the light side.
that or some Snow White Esque Reboot with lasers, whatever works.

I think its gonna be 2 bad guys visit this world and Luke and his buddies need to save the day by defeating those evil enemy's with the power of dancing and love. Also singing
I wouldn't mind seeing Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill in it. As long as they aren't playing the main roles.
Maybe their children will be the main characters?
Say hello to Jaiden, Jacen, and Lowie-

[sp]han/leia's twins, and chewie's nephew[/sp]
[del]Luke has no descendants because[/del] he is a jedi and that's like being the pope with lasers
they also had some amazonian red head friend, can't remember her name but she was a badass.

I think these were only books I read of my own free will when I was younger. They take place (obviously) after ep6, but are intended to occur before 7. 7 may pick right up where these left off in the same time period though, would be pretty cool.
I honestly think disney will treat the franchise well, though a lot of people seem to be freaking out about mickey mouse ears on everything like they've only done one thing ever. on the other side this doesn't mean they won't put darth vader in the next kingdom hearts
so are the new movies going to deal with the Yuzen Vong wars? (sorry if i mispelled the name)

Luke does actually have a child with Mara Jade called Ben Skywalker.
Luke does actually have a child with Mara Jade called Ben Skywalker.
oh geez the name sounds familiar but I can't remember a damn thing about it. Was that in those books, or am I just missing lore from the dozens of other series floating around out there?
Whatever happened to the Empire (in the comics) after Vader and the Emperor were killed? Do you think the Empire might show up in the new movie?
only the original 3 movies are canon all other movies, tv shows, books, comics, video games are a lie
lucas said that SWTOR was canon
Whatever happened to the Empire (in the comics) after Vader and the Emperor were killed? Do you think the Empire might show up in the new movie?
The Civil War went on for a few more years after the Destruction of the Second Death Star, the death of the Imperial leadership caused a power vacuum numerous imperial Moffs and Grand Admirals trying to take control.
The imperials lost control of Coruscant and retreated to the outer territories, the Rebels then formed the New Republic
lucas said that SWTOR was canon
Uh, no he didn't.
Go find me a source on that, and I'll believe you.
But Lucas is not a big fan of the EU.
Yeah, George Lucas is all about the EU. I remember he actually made a rule that there were to be no more wookiee jedi in the lore. But as for Han and Leia's kids, a movie about them could be neat but their story has already been told. From training as kids at Luke's academy, to fighting the Vong, to Han's son turning into a sith lord and killing Luke's wife. And then being killed by his sister. Dang.
Where did he say that?
From what I've heard, a lot of the things used in the prequel films were inspired by or taken directly from the EU.
The biggest thing being Coruscant, which is present in all 3 movies and didn't exist as a thing in SW canon until the early 90's.
George has his own level of canon, and whatever he chooses supersedes everything else.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon is a nice article that covers the subject.

I want to say that was in the very end of EP6
but I haven't seen the movies in quite a number of years so it's very much possible I'm wrong

lol lucas said he hated KotOR and whatnot
it shows his "perfect" order of jedi as a croup of hypocritical bigots, and he hates that

Can anyone get source on Lucas hating KoTOR? I can't find any sources and I've been looking for months.
Episode 7 will most likely be a original story. You guys are thinking 90s material of the Extended universe. Though I have a feeling it may take place after the Star Wars books

thank goodness Disney doesn't own Quentin Tarantino

What, there is not any mention of any offspring at the end of EP6

Here are some quotes from Lucas regarding Canon
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon#George_Lucas_and_Star_Wars_Canon
He considers the EU its own 'separate world'
Here is a list of EU elements in the films

And fan elements in novels/movies
