Does it really matter? Falling flat on your face can be fucking dangerous.

They are soldiers...
it's about discipline.
Fucking undisciplined shits, trying to break their fall after they faint from being forced to work for too long, worthless!

not like they're human or anything, no mercy!

It's your punishment for passing out.

Either you toughen up and accept that being a soldier is hard or you stay a whiny bitch and complain about rules being stupid
They are soldiers...
So that means they can just be left there and actually be instructed to fall face down first?
Dude, this is the 21st century.
I'm pretty sure they generally don't carry ammunition except on patrols at night or during times of heightened security, they always have armed police on site and the queens is always flanked by armed guards
They're guns are loaded do some research idiots

I would agree if this wasn't about something involuntary like fainting. It's funny you say this because it shows to me that you're just trying to look hardcore by advocating such primitive rules.

They are soldiers, and as a Royal guard no less it is expected of you to follow orders.
it is often laughed about when they are not on duty but while you are protecting the Queen you are expected to be at attention at all times.
I'm pretty sure they generally don't carry ammunition except on patrols at night or during times of heightened security, they always have armed police on site and the queens is always flanked by armed guards
Nope, they are always armed, the only time they do not have ammo in their guns is when they don't have their guns.
It's your punishment for passing out.
Can you really help it?
Having to stand outside in the heat with a hat that's gonna heat up your head to a 100C.
Fuck sake a heatstroke can easily be fatal
Kind of annoying then, really. And pointless.
It might be to respect the wishes of the their ancestral conquers, for their kids to be pampered.
Kind of annoying then, really. And pointless.
The royal family is extremely rich and famous, they will never give up their privilege.
They are loaded with live rounds.
So he aimed a live weapon at someone before he intended to pull the trigger? Here in denmark the royal guard needs military training, guess it's not the case for the english ones.
He's also way too close to the person he's aiming a long gun at.
seems kinda counter-intuitive to have a royal guard with a broken nose imo
[editline]7th April[/editline]
just seems pretty strongly against the idea of looking dignified if you're actively trying to break your face
So he aimed a live weapon at someone before he intended to pull the trigger? Here in denmark the royal guard needs military training, guess it's not the case for the english ones.
And yet he isn't holding the trigger.
he has trigger discipline he would have used the BAYONET a much less lethal weapon to WOUND the person.

Never point a weapon at something unless you intend to shoot it, firearms one oh fucking one.
Never point a weapon at something unless you intend to shoot it, firearms one oh fucking one.
ok so he'll bayonet the guy with some part of the weapon other than the bit with the bayonet on thanks glorious danish military you have truly advanced us
Never point a weapon at something unless you intend to shoot it, firearms one oh fucking one.
The solider nor the police officer did not think he was a threat you idiot.
He kept his weapon pointed at him to dissuade him from taking any hostile action
a Weapon like a knife or a gun isn't JUST used to kill, in this case it was used the same way a shield would be used, as a means of keeping a potentially hostile person away from people.

stop right there criminal scum
It's their choice to be a royal guard and they know full well what to expect. There are medics on hand, as well. This isn't a public school where some irate phys. ed coach is drilling children until they faint, it's drills for elite soldiers to test their endurance and obedience in grueling temperatures. Don't join the army if you don't want to follow rules meant to harden you.
I bet that hat is the best thing in the world during winter months, though.
Probably because it's hard to take a cosmetically-dressed up ceremonial guard seriously who's pointing his gun at you just because you ranted at a cop.
They're not just cosmetic ceremonial guards. Their guns are loaded with live rounds, their bayonets are real, and they're soldiers often recently back from an active warzone. They are stone-cold motherfuckers and they are defending Her Majesty herself, if you fuck with them you honestly deserve any and all retribution you have coming to you.
MANY royal guards fall to heat stroke each summer.

Notice how not a single Royal guard is helping them up?
it's because they are ordered not too.
FURTHERMORE
you can be PUNISHED for it.
"On parade, it is normal for Footguards to faint from heat exhaustion or dehydration. When a guard falls, the rest of the formation will not move to help him. Medics are usually on standby to come and collect him - if they aren't, the sergeant major or troop lieutenant will call for one to have him removed or just find two pairs of hands to drag him away.
Dependant on your injuries you may or may not get in trouble for it. A "good fall" is face down directly into the asphalt. A "bad fall" is anything but face down, as this suggests you controlled your fall and were still awake. Your mates will have a giggle about it but nobody cares too much unless it starts to happen often - in which case you'll be pulled from ceremonial duty until you harden up. "
dont lock your knees
Ceremonial duty looks really boring, though.
Wouldn't do it no matter what.

Thanks for your opinions and thoughts throughout this thread, bro! We really needed to know!
Never point a weapon at something unless you intend to shoot it, firearms one oh fucking one.
Who are you to judge a veteran soldier on how to handle his weapon? I am very certain he knew what he was doing and he had total control over his weapon and may be able to either deliver lethal or non lethal force to the troublemakers.

Don't worry, there's always someone better to take your place.
are there people in this thread that seriously managed to turn this into an anti-royal argument
you serious
Anti-Royal? I didn't notice anything anti-Royal on this thread, not majorly anyway.
Well you know you've fucked up when you get one of them to react.
The myth about them not reacting is a myth.
