If Microsoft plans on selling this thing, it won't be. They'll lose a lot by pricing it higher than the iPad. Ideally, they price it lower than or equal to.
Not necessarily. They're marketing it as a fully featured PC, which it is - it's running the next version of windows. An iPad is more like a toy, you need another computer as it can't really perform all the basic tasks you need a computer to do, whereas this can. I'm not disagreeing that it would be a good idea to price this so that there would be no good reason to get an iPad instead, but it definitely seems like it's worth more than an iPad.
I would love a blue keyboard for my laptop IMO, and that keyboard looks so perfect to type on.
wait-- what.
Wow they aren't actually giving prices? Damn.
This Surface is more interesting than any Android tablet that has been released ever. Google really blew a huge opportunity to carve out a new market
aw come on Microsoft!
Wow they aren't actually giving prices? Damn.
To compete. Which means similar prices to the iPad but cheaper to compete with them and gain the market.
hear that? is the sound of crying apple fanbois
Maybe now tablets will finally innovate rather than try and copy Apple. And by that I mean everyone will copy Microsoft.
Sexy
I want that chair.
hear that? is the sound of crying apple fanbois
I'd say it's a bit early - no pricing yet. Besides, this is a full-fledged OS, so comparing it to the iPad is not a very good idea. Or Android, for that matter.
wub wub wub tiem
The video has been up on their website for a while now. http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en/us/whatissurface.aspx
that clicking sound in the video is so fucking sexy
Dubstep confirmed!
It's a huge letdown they didn't announce pricing.
To compete. Which means similar prices to the iPad but cheaper to compete with them and gain the market.
DANA WOLLMAN 5 MINUTES AGO Pro coming in 64GB and 128GB models, will be priced on par with Ultrabook-class PCs. DANA WOLLMAN 5 MINUTES AGO Surface for WIndows RT coming in 32GB and 64GB models. Priced "like comparable tablets based on ARM."
It's a huge letdown they didn't announce pricing.
They did essentially announce the price. Look at the iPad and make a realistic competitive comparison.
It's a huge letdown they didn't announce pricing.
Well considering how you've been this entire thread, if they have you probably would've just nitpicked further.
Proper website. http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en/us/default.aspx
They did essentially announce the price. Look at the iPad and make a realistic competitive comparison.
I have an iPad 3 and I was impressed with that because of the Retina display but this really beats the iPad, I wonder how apple is going to compete with this.
Well considering how you've been this entire thread, if they have you probably would've just nitpicked further.
I like the product overall, but holy shit some of those announcements were totally retarded.
I have an iPad 3 and I was impressed with that because of the Retina display but this really beats the iPad, I wonder how apple is going to compete with this.
mac OS X tablet, of course. [editline]19th June 2012[/editline] they renamed the old MS surface "PixelSense"
did i read that they claimed it can play any game on the microsoft store?
This is basically a superportable netbook with a full, proper operating system. Where do I mail my money
It really is thin.
Looks like the Pro version is slightly thicker, but has a 1080p (!) display. http://www.microsoft.com/global/surface/en/us/renderingassets/surfacespecsheet.pdf
did i read that they claimed it can play any game on the microsoft store?
If you're getting the Pro (read:intel, RT is the ARM one) you can play any game you have on your computer now. You can check the windows 8 compatibility list in the windows forum to see what games are already being played on the windows 8 previews, but all of them should work really.
