bacteria is on the faucet
it doesn't matter if you touch it before you wash because you're washing
so you avoid the bacteria at the end by not directly touching the faucet
I can't believe I have to explain this
Or wash the faucet after you wash your hands, then wash your hands again. It's also a common courtesy to the next person to use it.
Unless you're in a public restroom, but I don't use those in a manner that would require me to wash my hands anyways, so it's a moot point for me.
It's called wash your hands after taking a shit.
Simple. :eng101:
No shit?
No, shit
"a thing that you frequently hold in your hand has bacteria on it"
oh I didn't realise this
Bacteria is goddamn everywhere, doesn't really surprise me. Our bodies can handle some exposure to e-coli, and most other bacteria for that matter.
They have in the past, and on shared keyboards they found every single bodily fluid the human body can excrete.
I'd love to have a link to that study, to gross my computer lab mates out!
Many people don't wash their hands properly. So even if they wash, it won't remove all the shit.
Those phones were obviously used in german scat porn.
Pretty much what I think of this non-story. The amount of bacteria, viruses and other microscopic bullshit we're covered in makes this pretty irrelevant.
You do know shit has sickening things in it, right? Literally, hell, get unlucky and you might end up with tapeworms in your brain.

Except you still have to wash your hands because your genitals are fucking riddled with bacteria.
Every year, 3.5 million children under the age of five are killed by pneumonia and diarrheal diseases that can be prevented by handwashing, the researchers noted.
Yeah, in the 3rd world where about a billion people are undernourished.

Better not use the air dryer, it harbours a hell of lot of bacteria.
What someone needs to implement is an alcohol spray that works via a sensor. No contact necessary, and the alcohol should kill most germs that get in the air dryers.

Not to mention that some liquid soap dispensers are already contaminated because the guy who refilled them had to refill it before he washed his hands.

In theory this but with that gel you mention which I think you can use dry.
E-Coli != shit
[editline]17th October 2011[/editline]
it may mostly come from feces, but it's not actual feces.
You already have lots and lots of E.coli in you anyway.
i think i just barfed a little in my mouth
It probably has some of that too.
I am not disgusted by my own bacteria but the taught of the shared keyboard and shared things are disgusting.
I heard that phones are one of the most germ-harbouring objects, next to toilets.

Aren't keyboards, sinks, and doorhandles all much worse than toilets?

Oh yeah, and public transport railings. And hospital surfaces. Everything that you'd expect really...
