That's horrible reasoning. An asteroid of such size wouldn't kill everyone, and would only add fuel to the argument of, "The apocalypse is coming." And of course, you're just as likely to be killed from a strike as any religious nut.

It would have only caused an 4 kiloton explosion, that's smaller than the bomb they dropped on hiroshima. it would also have exploded in the atmosphere making it less destructive.
So really no one is really getting killed by this.
