• Obama receives Nobel Peace Prize
Obama said his accomplishments are "slight" in comparison to previous recipients of the prize, and that other nominees may be more deserving.
:raise: Isn't that demoting the importance of the others that got the same prize?
Bush fucked this country up so badly, I don't know why people aren't seeing it. Obama took on the biggest problem in the world (almost). They're blaming him, for things that Bush covered up, and are now exposed. 1. Middle East - Most of this war is classified, and Obama found out a lot of what's going on over there after taking office. Not his fault we can't just run away. 2. Economy - Bush fucked it up. 3. Healthcare - The bill has to be passed, it's not 100% his decision - don't blame him. There's lots of other things, but I don't feel like explaining it.
Also: US Government Total Spending Where does the ramp of this start? 2001.
They only gave it to him because he's black. :eng99:
according to facepunch: no black people ever do anything deserving an award, so whenever a black person gets one, he/she obviously got it simply because they're black.
according to facepunch: no black people ever do anything deserving an award, so whenever a black person gets one, he/she obviously got it simply because they're black.
You best be trollin', because that's just fucked up man.
:raise: Isn't that demoting the importance of the others that got the same prize?
He certainly wasn't demoting them. The first thing he did was to question his own so called "work" to earn the Nobel peace prize.
You best be trollin', because that's just fucked up man.
That's what the majority of facepunch thinks, not me.
Try reading this: http://timvalentine.wordpress.com/2008/07/28/bills-signed-into-law-by-obama/
* Lead-Free Toys Act (S. 2048) What commie nonsense is this?
Like how Alfred Nobel got it for inventing dynamite :v:
Actually Alfred Nobel invented the Peace Prize in an attempt to show people that he wasn't just all about blowing stuff up. I also find it rather contradictory to give Obama the Peace Prize. In it's criteria for winning it says that the person winning should be making an effort to increase fraternity between nations and reduce the size of standing armies. Last time I checked, Obama was all about increasing troop numbers in Afghanistan.
Like how Alfred Nobel got it for inventing dynamite :v:
Ehhm, he didn't He invented the price, because he saw how much damage his dynamite could do...
* Lead-Free Toys Act (S. 2048) What commie nonsense is this?
What?
Ignore me.
Secret Service and the Norwegian police inspected our school building yesterday, as it is pretty near the hotel Obama is staying at.
It was a fantastic speech.
It was excellently written, but when you have someone recite it who, at home, is implementing at nearly breakneck speed some of the most controversial legislation the country has ever seen, and realize that his political philosophy is not reflected throughout most of the speech...it's all empty.
What prize? "How to spend all US money on unneeded bailouts"?
Fix'ed for relevancy.
Fix'ed for relevancy.
Boba fett, just because you don't understand economics doesn't mean you should edit people's posts [editline]08:59PM[/editline]
It was excellently written, but when you have someone recite it who, at home, is implementing at nearly breakneck speed some of the most controversial legislation the country has ever seen, and realize that his political philosophy is not reflected throughout most of the speech...it's all empty.
Did that even make sense?

I think it reflects his political philosophy damn well. And controversial legislation, what's that? Universal healthcare?
Did you even hear his speech? I think it reflects his political philosophy damn well. And controversial legislation, what's that? Universal healthcare?
He has failed to convince me that he honestly thinks America has done any good for the world and has a necessarily good impact on those countries in which it has intervened militarily. Yes, I've heard the speech. Yes, I've heard plenty of his other speeches from his summits and trips around the world. It just doesn't add up.
I just thought the speech itself was really good, no matter who would have performed it. Of course he was trying to compensate America waging war in 2 countries by saying that war is a way to achieve peace, which in an essence is correct...

We're at war with two militias. Iraq and Afghanistan fully support us.
Ah sorry, my fault. Editing that.
"Hey guys, Obama seems like a cool guy with all of those promices and speeches, let's give him the peace price!" Yes, so if I told the USA I was gonna change it I'd get that price? Sweet. Really, he hasn't done anything yet and does not deserve the price, anyone can do what he does (nothing) but will he really do what he says he'll do?

If you're going to scrutinize the amount of time it's taking, then perhaps you should read a bit more on what Bush really did.
the award was for "Changing the international view of the US" not for "Being a Black Person"
Oh, he sure did do that. Too bad he changed the international view of the US into an even more negative view.
Where is Ronald Reagan's prize. He ended the cold war and stopped all the fucked up shit Carter caused.
Oh, he sure did do that. Too bad he changed the international view of the US into an even more negative view.
Not really. We here in Europe like him.
it was just out of sympathy

Not to mention he didn't do shit for the cold war and Conservatives LOVE to over dramatize carter. so no, he doesn't deserve anything. To Quote hunter Thompson, "his body should have been burned in a trash bin"
