He didn't voice his opinions in the restaurant nor disrupt peace in it, they should not be able to refuse service to him. You guys might think this is all fine and dandy going in this direction, but I bet there would be outrage if a restaurant kicked someone out for supporting gay rights
First off, no, as long as you don't engage in interstate commerce (where federal law, ergo, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, applies) you can kick anyone out of your resturant for whatever reason you deem necessary. You can not agree with it, and try to have that changed, but that's the facts.
Secondly, even though I know you love doing it in Sensationalist Headlines (re: Muppet thread), there isn't a compromise between supporting gay rights and blocking gay rights. One path is justified, and the other is ignorance. If someone was kicked out of a resturant for advocating gay rights, most forward-thinking people would be outraged (or atleast slightly vexed) and ought to be. That same expectation doesn't hold true with people who are against gay rights because that is discrimination.
Stop fabricating false equivalencies. You end up in situations like these where you overextend and create some middle line between bigotry and human rights.
I disagree, you should only be able to kick someone out if he/she is being a disturbance, not following your rules, or otherwise doing illegal or obnoxious activities. Not because of his/her opinions on politics or religion.
If you walk in my restaurant, I can refuse to serve you. Its my restaurant, I have absolutely no responsibility to serve you and you have no right to be served by me in my restaurant. If I serve you in my place, its because I want your money. If I don't want your money, why should I let you in my restaurant?
excuse me while i squeeze between the argument-involved posts
Holy shit, I used to live 30 minutes away from Knoxville. This thread has been extremely nostalgic for me just by hearing the name of that city.

no that's completely different
he said something in which you gain something, you're saying something in which you loose something

the logic behind it is the same, I pay taxes, doesn't mean I don't hate them
Hating someone because of a position or organization which they voluntarily associate themselves is perfectly fine.
Valid reason to boot someone from your establishment.
Huh if I ever own a buisness establishment, I will never hire or let any person who is gay or associates themselves with the lgbt community inside of it. Because its a valid reason

Man. You operate like a blood bank.
Like hell, you wouldn't hire a person even if they have gay friends? That's kind of fucked up.
