I think he means that you're still an adrenaline junkie even if you win, since you basically have to be one to consider playing in the first place. if anything you'd be worse off at that point because you're feeding into your addiction.
plus you've now got a dead dude sitting at your poker table or whatever, and no matter how well-adjusted and sane you are, getting grey-matter stains out is a bitch and a half to do.
