I hope an EU member grants him asylum. Having the EU tell Obama to go fuck himself would be glorious.
Indeed, but it will only add more sparks to the current verbal conflict going on between the EU and America after Snowden revealed the PRISM program. Not that I have anything against the truth being told, I'm just worried that the EU could get fucked over if they weaken their relationship with America. Same goes for the other countries around the world; pull America's cock out of your mouth and you'll be left with bigger problems later down the line.
Better than having a car battery wired to your bollocks. Also this "you have to be here to apply!" bullshit sounds fishy as fuck. What if you turn up and they say no they can't protect you?
First he needs to get there, but no air traffic company will allow that if you don't have a valid passport, which America has made sure Snowden's isn't. His best bet is seeking temporary documents, which the countries don't to offer either. Bottom line: The EU is a bunch of sissies!
The countries being slashed out are more pro-American than they are pro-human rights.
If France refuses I'd be so fucking full of shame. Come on land of the human rights and the lumières, live up to your expectations.
you mean the country which, up until very recently, was struggling with LGBT rights?
Now he screwed himself over. He should have atleast taken asylum and then waited a bit before moving on. I hope he likes being stuck in a tiny airport hotel.
Better than getting abused in a tiny cell on US territory.
Better than getting abused in a tiny cell on US territory.
Its not as good as ceasing activity for a month while he finds another country to take asylum in.
If France refuses I'd be so fucking full of shame. Come on land of the human rights and the lumières, live up to your expectations.
You're not going to like this, but France just refused a Bolivian Diplomatic aircraft entry to its airspace due to the suspicion of Snowden being on board.
So why suddenly are all the usual asylum countries deciding he's too hot to have in their country?
it's a trap
[t]http://cdn.instanttrap.com/trap.jpg[/t] quick snowden summon the ewoks! (User was banned for this post ("Image macro" - Craptasket))
I think Norway and Iceland are his best bets. In the case of Norway, there is even precedent for refusing extradition to the US on grounds of America's poor handling of prisoners.
He should submit one to Israel just for laughs.
The countries being slashed out are more pro-American than they are pro-human rights.
Or they're scared
If France refuses I'd be so fucking full of shame. Come on land of the human rights and the lumières, live up to your expectations.
Liberté, égalité, fraternité. It's time to see if France can live up to its motto. For non french speakers, it means Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. It already had a hard enough time keeping it with the whole LGBT debate.
If France refuses I'd be so fucking full of shame. Come on land of the human rights and the lumières, live up to your expectations.
Don't count on it, France refused a to let a diplomatic plane in their airspace on the suspicion that Snowden was on board.
Fuck, I feel so horrible right now just letting this happen. I should be out in the streets protesting, letting my government know that they have to return him home safely. He has violated know publicly known laws (to my knowledge) and risked (and still risks) everything he has ever known and loved to let his people know. This man, like all men, has a right to be free. But right now, there are prisoners in this country who are likely to receive better treatment then Snowden. He is a fucking hero, and I am sitting on my ass complaining on the internet about it instead of going and doing anything. For fuck sake, if I knew where to start, I would have this man live in my fucking house if I could. He is a hero and deserves better treatment than this.

Its without question going to include your comfortable lifestyle, your money, your home, your luxuries. Will you pay the price or sit back down and shut up.
He has violated know publicly known laws (to my knowledge)
Theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information, and willful communication of classified intelligence to an unauthorized person

Venezuela is the best choice. They are not afraid to confront the US on anything.

There are numerous laws to protect whistleblowers and numerous channels for them that have been used in the past for things just like this. In fact, in the past, whistleblowers did it without many of the protections they have today. But not only that, he went in to it with the intention of leaking information. He didn't have a moral epiphany when he became aware of it, he wanted to leak information before he even knew what the information was.
Theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information, and willful communication of classified intelligence to an unauthorized person
So he actually stole government property? I knew he leaked it (2nd and 3rd laws) but I had no idea that he stole anything.
Why did he apply to the Netherlands? They are too busy sucking the US' dick.
Why did he apply to the Netherlands? They are too busy sucking the US' dick.
As Germany is, too. Yesterday I read in the Newspaper that the denied asylum for Snowden. This is just fucked up and pathetic! I live in Germany and it makes me fucking angry that my country is on Americas' leash. The NSA are spying on about 5 billion connections of germans and still our government won't do SHIT about this. Where is the solidarity???
What's the point of needed to be in a country's territory before you can request asylum there? Is escaping persecution a massive game of craps for everyone who has to do it? What's to stop some girl from Iran or something about to be stoned to death from fleeing to, say, Britain, then being turned away and sent back home to die?
EU law forbids deportations to countries where the threat of that happening to the person is real, and iirc most Western countries have laws that forbid it as well. Doesn't stop politicians trying to find every possible way around it, though.
I don't know what to think. I think if SNowden gets his Asylum, most resistance and hysteria against/over PRISM will just disappear, but if he gets caught the hysteria would probably klimax into unknown heights and fill the people with rage over the government. Most people see him as an hero, and if he dies he gets caught or even executed he will become a martyr, thus filling everyone believing in him with blind rage. Snowden can't stop PRISM, only the people can end it.

They might even have requested the level of surveillance the NSA was "providing".
I don't know what to think.
First he needs to get there, but no air traffic company will allow that if you don't have a valid passport, which America has made sure Snowden's isn't.
A national carrier can (according to the BBC) carry a stateless / passportless person at the request of their government with no issue so it isn't that much of an issue.
So he actually stole government property? I knew he leaked it (2nd and 3rd laws) but I had no idea that he stole anything.
He stole four laptops full of classified data that goes beyond PRISM. Why would you have a strong, vocal opinion if you don't even know the basic details of the case? That's the worst kind of bandwagoning.
Hopefully this guy gets whats coming to him for his treason.
Has he tried Portugal? [editline]3rd July 2013[/editline]
Hopefully this guy gets whats coming to him for his treason.
You're an imbecile.
