Epic Games distances itself from ultraviolent mass-murder game Hatred

Not much different than your average day in GTA. Going into a police station guns blazing, blocking the doors to a hospital and systematically murdering everyone. Getting pissed in a Cluck-n-bell.

Except that's optional in GTA.
This game is built around that.
Excuse me... but how is this any different than some sort of edgy Hotline Miami minus the style?
The devs are a lot more pretentious.
GTA doesn't lay on the satire as thick as Postal but it's still there
I'm going to say it right here.
I fucking love the first Manhunt game. It's primal, it's basic and has Brian Cox taunting you throughout a battle against a shithole GTA universe city. The executions in that game didn't bother me because everyone, including you, deserved it (in a video game)
Postal 1 had incredible dark satire running through it, but was only made for the sake of it.
This doesn't seem to have any of that, it's just a controversy generator. You seen the site? They're just begging people to tell the world and 'let haters hate'.

That's why Hotline Miami is a better comparison. Sure, you're killing hostile enemies in that game but I recall a Terminator-styled police station level. This game is a bit more graphically intense and HLM has style but the premise is absolutely no different.
looks well made in my opinion.

in hotline miami you're being paid to do a job. you're fighting armed men in some sort of criminal gang. the odds are even and you're fighting to come out on top
after each pumping murder fest, the music stops and you're forced to retrace your steps through the gore in silence
by the time you're murdering policemen for your bloody revenge quest, the character has completely fallen. i mean the first mission in the game has you murder a dude who doesn't fight back for his briefcase and then throw up in an alleyway. it's obviously not a glorification of violence
the entire game is literally themed around violence in games and why we commit to acts we're asked to do by video games

gta punishes you for breaking the rules. the police come, the swat come, the army come. it's very hard to survive and escape from 6 stars. there's also no reward for senseless killing in gta. yeh you can pick up like $100 off the ground but you'd get more than that for being a fireman for 5 minutes. the game allows for destruction and murder but it isn't centered around it at all

holy fuck that's actually kinda disturbing
Eh, it doesn't look that bad for an isometric shooter.
Why so much hate? Honestly looks like a fun time killer game.
You realize Postal 1 is like carbon copy of this just 2d and from 1997.
I'd buy it

But at the same time we go on civilian murder sprees in gta for fun, not for rewards. Isn't that even more fucked up? Oh wait no it isn't, it's just a game. A game where you pretend to shoot things.

Yeah but how many people do you see playing GTA going "Maybe I shouldn't go on a rampage".
Nobody.
People buy GTA for the ability to rampage

Oh I was under the assumption that this game the police eventually come and stop you and your just holding out and causing as much damage as you can till you die. My mistake if that is not the case.
As fucked up as it is, I thought a good gameplay idea long ago that you'd have a shooting situation, and the victims would have to try and evade and escape a given number of shooters in their location through back exits and hiding, and then if they escape they come back as law enforcement to stop the shooters. From a purely gameplay standpoint that sounds like a fun dynamic game.

I don't know about GTAV, but GTAIV went to great lengths to show Niko as being heavily morally troubled, and it's not like it glorified him in any way. You're being absolutely ridiculous if you think that this game where the devs literally made the civilians cry and beg to be let free is in any way shape or form on the same level.

that's not an issue with the game though it's an issue with people
this game is about murdering people, its points system is based on murdering people... it's a game where you murder people. gta isn't a game where you murder people, it's a game where you play a storyline about a bunch of criminals and you can also murder people if you so choose to
The difference is, postal and GTA don't take themselves seriously.
This game is trying SO HARD to be edgy, even the dev website is edgy.
It's just pandering. The devs need to learn subtlety.

How fucking sad is it that the song fits so well with this game's xX~edgy~Xx tone.
This game actually looks genuinely fun, I'll probably get it.
[sp]FBI plz don't raid my house[/sp]
i don't like stuff like this, you don't have to be edgy and realistic to do stuff like that, nor do you have to promote massive body counts.
GTA gets across the whole cops-n-robbers thing because the cops ramp up so quickly and aren't overly realistic

Am I the only one who sees this edgy as satirical? I mean come on, the trailer was so cheesy and generic edgy you can't take it seriously.

did you not read their reasoning behind the game or what because they seem to be pretty serious about making some dumb murderfest simulator
Am I the only one who sees this edgy as satirical? I mean come on, the trailer was so cheesy and generic edgy you can't take it seriously.
Even if it's satirical, that's still a lot of effort put into polishing and fine tuning incredibly gruesome and fucked up features

HEY, you can't tell me how to enjoy my senseless violence, YOU'RE NOT MY DAD.

The original Manhunt is ten times more violent than this game.
having a really hard time figuring out what looks fun about this. isometric shooters aren't exactly new and in other games the enemies actually fight back and there's, you know, a challenge
Honestly this actually looks like a lot of fun to play.
it's postal without the satire.
It's like Postal without the message behind it.
Postal 1 was about an ultra-realistic murder simulator, which was never meant to be fun.
Postal 2 laughs at you for doing violent things, because it's not the game making you do it, you can play the entire game non-lethally.
