Epic Games distances itself from ultraviolent mass-murder game Hatred

It's a video game.
Doesn't mean it's a good game but it's a game.
It's literally just another overhead shooter with a fuck up tone to it.
There's a million other overhead shooters that have a way better theme and artstyle than this trash.
I'm either hoping this turns out to be a tongue-in-cheek satire thing akin to Postal 1, or it gets canned.
It's totally the GTA parody from George Lopez and all of the other family sitcoms from the early 2000's that had that episode. The main character is too edgy for this to all be serious, I hope.
the people taking this seriously are pretty dumb
its clear this was made to make a point
Yeah and their point as described on their website is retarded and trying too hard just as much.
In an industry where games like mortal kombat, hotline miami and prototype exist, you can't possibly say games are trying too hard to be politically correct.
holy fuck that's actually kinda disturbing
Honestly it's no different than what folks would do on GTA before online existed. Anyone whose ever played any GTA cannot honestly say they've never gone and tried to kill and cause as much havoc as possible at least once.
Hes got one giant pocket

The difference is GTA doesn't intimately show you stabbing someone while they desperately beg you to stop and let them live
The difference is, postal and GTA don't take themselves seriously.
This game is trying SO HARD to be edgy, even the dev website is edgy.
It's just pandering. The devs need to learn subtlety.
isn't Postal 1 serious like this though? I mean this is from Postal 1

Also GTA is extremely satirical and even tongue-in-cheek on a lot of aspects. It doesn't take itself seriously or pretends to carry any higher message than making fun of American society.
But at the same time we go on civilian murder sprees in gta for fun, not for rewards. Isn't that even more fucked up? Oh wait no it isn't, it's just a game. A game where you pretend to shoot things.
I dunno, it just looks different.
Maybe because, as said, in other games you're not doing "finisher-like" gruesome executions on people begging, or blasting off a downed cop's head with a shotgun. Imo, the problem isn't the violence, its more the "fun" in bad taste.
If this was based on a different idea other than "killing civs because you're mad" and you would instead be killing some armed assholes that took over the city or something, it would be a lot better.

god damn it I just spent 5 minutes making the exact same video
the music even comes in at the same time

Yeah but the first Postal basically dealt with the main character being outright insane, how far his insanity goes, and such. I'm willing to call it a horror game for that matter, and considering it ends on the Postal Dude trying to massacre an elementary school but having a breakdown before he actually does it and getting thrown in an asylum, I'd say it's a lot more considerate of its own themes than Hatred is.
Basically Postal is a very weird, uncomfortable and quite unsubtle game about insanity and those that it affects. Hatred desperately tried to reproduce that apparently, but tries to do it to make a much dumber point (ie "games are too artsy and politically correct") and is seventeen years late to the punch. Also, Postal still had its moments where it just didn't take itself seriously, see some of the diaries entries :

we hate politics in games
so let's make the most political game ever made.
I don't even need to begin explaining how much is wrong with this, all I know is that this is going to be one of those titles that thrives off of stirring controversy, and this is going to be one of those threads that brings out the worst of the forum.
When can I preorder it on Steam?
So who's the head developer...?

Why yes, that group IS the Facebook page of a far-right Polish Nationalist party.
weren't most people you killed in postal 1 armed?
I really don't understand why people care. This company has every right to make this game, despite how controversial it may be (to some people).

Absolutely nobody gets physically hurt in real life from these games I might add.

I don't get why people say this, of course they have the right to make this and there's no legal reason they can't, but that doesn't stop it from being really creepy in a bad way
Meh, you can chainsaw a human in half but suddenly they've gone too far
what a joke

Well, in most games where you chainsaw someone in half, that person either deserves it, or you weren't supposed to do it anyway.
Plus, this guy is promoting his game by latching on to the whole "we don't want political correctness in our video games" crowd, and people don't want to be publicly associated with such a massive tool.

Not really, Gears of War encourages you to brutally murder and merciless destroy your helpless beaten opponent but what ever.
In the end this game is much more worse, but seeing Epic or others claim a moral high ground is hilarous.
This game reminds me of the manhunt controversy back in its day. It was a shit game but all the controversy played into its hands ended up making it sell. This will probably be the same thing.

Somehow the filter makes it even better.
The devs say they're tired of political correctness in video games, but I don't know how many hours of PC bargain bin shovelware compilations they've been playing to come up with that statement.

There's an actual in universe justification for the chainsaw bayonet though, since the Locust skin was much too tough to pierce with a normal bayonet. Sure, Gears of War was really gory and shit, but at least both sides had justifiable reasons why they did what they did (survival) and they knew a soldier from the other side would do the same to them, this is just killing defenseless people (who actively beg you to stop) because "the world is bad, rarr >:("
If they're so tired of "political correctness" then how come I saw no children or elderly people at all? That means they're just as scared about going too far as everyone else. Not that I would WANT it to have them, just made an observation.
