• Epic Games distances itself from ultraviolent mass-murder game Hatred

to me the verdict on the reception of this game is that americans are seriously disturbed by it and the whole rest of the world looks on and goes "uhh I guess it is pretty bad"
This looks like a fun game, looking towards it
I just like how in their goal to create "pure entertainment" they went straight to mass murder. Nothing more entertaining, right guys?!
lets make a game where you sit at a park and stare at 11 year old girls its not illegal, they are within their right to make it, and it breaks all the boundaries its still creepy as shit, looks like it has no actual fun value to it, and the devs are very likely unstable individuals
Pedophilia is a an irregularity present in just a few percent of populace and perfectly absent in everyone else. Humans are believed to be inherently violent, though, even tho the display of it varies.
humans are inherently sexual, though the display of it varies yes some people like a fight, that doesn't mean a majority of people want to go on rampages yes some people like to have sex with consenting adults, doesn't mean a majority of people want to rape children
Pedophilia is an irregularity that goes against the functional norm of human psychology (severe pedophilia often means the person is perfectly disinterested in normally viable mates). Adrenaline rise and emotional distress is perfectly natural reaction to observing severe violence. You are trying to liken a relatively rare dysfunction to the usually controlled and concealed but mostly everpresent norm.
This game could be a lot of fun if nicely executed but my intuition tells me it will be a pile of shit
im sorry but the want to kill a bunch of innocent people is not a fucking normal thing and if you think it is, you should probably seek help yeah sometimes people feel like shit some days and say "man i want to kill my boss" but do they actually mean it? fuck no lol
Because playing a super violent game automatically means that's what you want to happen, right? Because people playing horror games want to be trapped in terrifying dark places, and want to almost helplessly face impending doom they cannot escape, right? What people want to do and what people want to experience without the burden of consequences is completely different.
If Manhunt 3 suddenly came out you guys would shit yourselves.
good, this game is a horrible thing. out of all the ways they could've conveyed the "society is becoming too politically correct" theme, they chose one of the simplest and most cliche way of doing it.
no because manhunt has a story that isnt just "lmao i hate the world"
this ^^ is what separates this game from other, similar, but good games: there is no satire, no wittiness, no deeper meaning. there is so little intelligent thought put into this game, and that's why it's junk.
The game, the trailer, holy shit. Personally, I enjoy murdering people in games to upbeat happy music. Like, All You Need Is Love, Daydream Believer, Do you Believe in Magic, and Wouldn't It Be Nice. But hey, that's just me.
no because manhunt has a story that isnt just "lmao i hate the world"
So as long as you have a personal goal, any amount of gruesome murder and violence is acceptable, but this is not because there is no goal?
theres that and theres this, which is super borderline and very creep it doesnt help that the devs are actual right wing extremists im sure thats a good thing
where's the line? From what authority do you come to decide "yeah this is alright and this is fucked up" and political belief of the devs shouldn't have any effect on judging their work lmao
ok say that about phil fish
I forgot phil fish being an asshole is what made his games bad, I am sorry [editline]17th October 2014[/editline]
why do i need to argue that context is key oh you're murdering those poor nazis in wolfenstein thats so horrible oh those poor zombies in resident evil oh the humanity its justifiable (ish, the game treads thin ice) in manhunt because the gangs you eliminate in that are scum, they're arguably lower than you, resorting to brutally killing innocent people, owning rape dungeons, etc.
I would argue that trying to claim that completely brutal torturous murder is justified by clearly criminal vigilante justice is a far far more dangerous of a precedent than admitting that some people find dumb virtual gore fun.
Seems like the devs are exactly getting what they were trying to achieve with this game, good job guys :v: How can you be this naive. "Boohoo games hurt my feelings" while you were gunning down "Zombies" in L4D half an hour ago. Sure they aren't begging for mercy and shit but you still sent it's brain flying across the whole damn bridge. Why does this suddenly cross the line? Because the game will be shit and distasteful instead of a well made murder simulator? I hate how you guys always blow stuff like this out of proportion. It's a shit game by edgy fucks get over yourselves.
why do i need to argue that context is key oh you're murdering those poor nazis in wolfenstein thats so horrible oh those poor zombies in resident evil oh the humanity
Being a villain protagonist is not a new concept, Manhunt, GTA3, VC, and 5 (Trevor), Destroy All Humans!, God of War, Saints Row 1 and 2, Prototype, PAYDAY. Regardless of intentions, from revenge to greed, you're still the bad guy killing innocent people. Even the professional Agent 47 will murder a chef and stuff his body in the cabinet solely because a chef's uniform is a good disguise.
its justifiable (ish, the game treads thin ice) in manhunt because the gangs you eliminate in that are scum, they're arguably lower than you, resorting to brutally killing innocent people, owning rape dungeons, etc.
Except near the end of Manhunt where you end up hunting the CCPD simply because they are there, and later the CCPD SWAT because they've tripled their efforts to take you down. And in Manhunt 2 where you kill Civilians, and again, Policemen and SWAT operators.
why do i need to argue that context is key
Because it's arbitrary, at best.
This is is going to sell like hotcakes because of the Streisand effect
Jack Thompson is gonna have a field day with this game.
Don't understand the hatred of this game. Concept is probably the best I have ever seen in a long time. It's so ridiculously simple. Guy goes rampage and that's it. Only hope is that it has some variety.
Gaming industry has become so shit lately that you can't just have a good old fun shoot everything that moves, you need to have some "deep motive" and artsy direction so all the pseudo intellectuals that think Bioshock Infinite is a smart game for smart people can feel good about it. Mind you, if they made you a hitman that had to kill a specific person but just so happened to slaughter everyone in your path, then that would be much much better (see GTA). So you see, Postal was fine because you were murdering and dismembering people ironically
Ehhhh, first impressions are bad, to be sure. But, I'll wait untill I know more about the game. I won't make a snap judgement based on a single trailer, even if it looks generic (gameplay wise) and kinda creepy in a bad way.
This is going in Anders Breivik's game collection together with Ethnic Cleansing
This is is going to sell like hotcakes because of the Streisand effect
I will laugh my ass off if it will, also the game is indie so it will sell rather cheaply.
I will laugh my ass off if it will, also the game is indie so it will sell rather cheaply.
Oh you can bet it will. Each new kneejerk post and article about it will bump up the sales a notch.
Oh you can bet it will. Each new kneejerk post and article about it will bump up the sales a notch.
Then we will see let's plays and all that, I also hope most streamers who get to play this will play off disgusted and troubled role when playing it to add more drama.
the people taking this seriously are pretty dumb its clear this was made to make a point
It's a super dumb point?
I like this game mostly because it did a serious ass damage to SJWs. And because it looks like fun and mindless killing spree game, haven't seen like those in a while. Waiting for preorder.
Is it just me or do some of the animations they're using look outright identical to Volition's Punisher game they made in 2006? Except The Punisher was actually a decent game? :v:
If Manhunt 3 suddenly came out you guys would shit yourselves.
Yeah but Manhunt is all about killing people who are also out to kill you, it's a struggle for survival, not a tacked on "let's genocide everything because FUCK THIS WORLD" thing. Manhunt 2 was just shit.
My friend sent me a link to the game the other day. I don't even care to mention the controversial part of the game, it just doesn't seem very fun fighting what's essentially idle/easymode bots in any FPS.
