The Red Baron was the most successful fighter Ace of WW1, a German named Manfred von Richthofen.
The Red Arrows are the RAF's Aerobatic display team, formed in 1964.
The Blue Angels are the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squad, formed in 1946.
The Blue Angels is the oldest flying aerobatic team.
I wouldn't call The Arrows a knock-off though. That's like saying all sports teams are just knock-offs of whoever started it. :)
