But he's Danish
Aren't the Danish dutch?
More than the other one? Because it's exactly as racist as the other ad.
I could say the Italian one is worse, since the Chinese one isn't captioned "WHITE IS BETTER" but I'm not going to say that because I don't give a fuck about either because both of them are comedy commercials and not serious commentary and I don't make it my personal mission to suck the humor out of any little thing that I can by branding it racist
??? I don't even know how to respond to this a) You stereotyped bunch of people based on their skin color (both blacks and whites). b) I didn't force my opinion on anyone c) So just because you don't like it means nobody else is allowed to like it? d) Ad is made for Chinese market, so if we go by your logic, why does your American opinion matter? Seek help (or grow the fuck up, better yet do both)
A.) Its not a sterotype. I lack the proper amount of fingers and toes to count how many times I've seen blatant racism defended as "jus joaking guis." I don't like calling people out. Instead I like to explain my viewpoint no matter how futile it is in the end. Why? I guess I'm a masochist bastard. B.) You can't really do that on an internet forum. Only discuss stuff our differing viewpoints. C.) You're free to like whatever you want. I'm free to say why liking that thing is shitty of you. Good deal? Good deal. D.) I don't give a damn about the Chinese Market. What I do give a damn about is you trying to defend the racism of other people. You should knock it off. E.) Will do. You got a therapist I could get into contact with? Maybe a real fancy Serbian Psychiatrist perhaps? I won't "grow the fuck up" because if I grow up to become such a fine, dense, narrow-minded individual like yourself, I would rather run into a house fire drenched in diesel fuel.
I would agree that the people that are too sensitive are the ones taking a detergent commercial seriously as if it's making some racial statement. It's a fucking joke in a commercial. You wanna get mad over racism, complain about the crazy homeless people on the Metro yelling "fuck niggers", not some racial joke in a commercial from another continent.

I like how the biggest champion of non racism in this thread keeps calling the only "Proponents of Racism" here "Serbians"
So if I find you a black guy who doesn't care about this, would that shut you up? Or maybe it doesn't matter after all because there are millions of people out there, regardless of their skin color. How do you know skit is about African-Americans and not some Africans? Just how much more credibility are you giving to someone just because they're black, even tho they are not related in any way to a commercial? It's literally just a skin color, there isn't any cultural trait attached to the ad.
It wouldn't "shut me up", dude you need to chill out. As I said in a later reply, one black person doesn't represent the entirety of black people which is why I'm trying to say that denying the validity of the outrage is incredibly stupid because you're saying that "Oh I don't find this offensive" And the hell is this about cultural trait? How is a black skin color not a cultural trait? When we refer to black people, we don't just say "AFRICANS ONLY", we're talking about everyone around the world that has a black skin color. The gag is about how a black skin color is considered dirty.
Or maybe it just suits the comedic theme the ad was aiming for, just like in the case of a black one?
Then they were truly stupid if they had a comedic intent. I refuse to believe that they didn't think of the negative repercussions of this ad.
The point is that there isn't some world conspiracy against blacks, because there have been ads with white people being on the short end of the joke too, yet there is only ""outrage"" about the black one (spoiler: there isn't one and this whole discussion is stupid as hell as well).
There is no outrage because not enough white people are offended. The point i'm trying to get across is that you're whole "OH THAT ITALIAN AD IS RACIST/OFFENSIVE/WHATEVER, HOW COME NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT?" is just eugh.
Or maybe you're fooling yourself and are being paranoid by thinking this causes controversy. And even if we go by your logic, what's your point?
"This doesn't cause controversy" then explain why we're talking about a video that caused controversy.........

You're speaking out about how people shouldn't be outraged over little shit yet you're clearly getting outraged by this shit right now.
What does this even mean? Is this the part where you descend into manic shitposting?
It means you were making shit up. Maybe you should reread your post that quoted mine again and point out where I said the Italian ad wasn't also racially charged.

Dear god this thread is cancer... (User was banned for this post ("Shitposting" - UncleJimmema))
Oh my god you're such a hypocrite. You're speaking out about how people shouldn't be outraged over little shit yet you're clearly getting outraged by this shit right now.
Are you serious? I already admitted that this argument is stupid as fuck and nonsensical. I'm not outraged, realistically I'm just slightly surprised that there are unironically people like that. The thing is that I'm trying to say is basically "quit your bullshit" while they try to pry and find some deeper meaning to all of this.
Dear god this thread is cancer...
Its very unfortunate that this is really the only thing that anyone in this thread would ever agree on. Now when you start talking about what part of this thread has the "cancer"...
Its very unfortunate that this is really the only thing that anyone in this thread would ever agree on. Now when you start talking about what part of this thread has the "cancer"...
Don't it's all cancer [editline]29th May 2016[/editline] close this thread
Jokes can be racist and still be funny. Still, I think people are looking a little too deep into these skits, I sincerely doubt the directors of these commercials are raging racists trying to demean entire races of people as inferior, its just making humor out of the various different meanings of the word "color" and how dirt/grime tends to be a dark color. Trying to tie those two jokes into "they're implying black people are dirty or worthless" is clearly missing not only the intent of the commercial but also projecting an agenda onto a simple joke. Not everything has some deep meaning or message to it, sometimes the blue curtains described in a novel repressent the main character's sadness, other times the curtains are blue because they're fucking blue. Likewise a simple commercial isn't trying to belittle an entire race of people, its just trying to make you laugh and remember the product being advertised.
Dear god this thread is cancer...
idk I'd rather everyone be insensitive jerks than everyone discount the opinions of people with different skin colors Like it isn't even that people are saying racial supremacism is okay, they're just saying this isn't that. That doesn't seem all that bad to me.

If you stop, they will stop as well because no one has anything to discuss. It's not that fucking hard. I'm sure you have something better to do anyways.
but this ad is from China How is American history in any way relevant
The theme of dark skin = inferior person is wretchedly common throughtout the histories of many places. It may have been a bad example for this case, but the American history is another thread from the tapestry of historical racism against black people. Also, I'm pretty sure a a sad amount of chinese actually view black people as vile and unclean beings regardless of our history mixing with theirs or not.
No. I'm just making fun of the godawful trend of white people (such as yourself here) trying to tell me shit that is offensive isn't offensive and I'm just looking outrage. I'll let you in on a little secret, I thought the add was a bit funny the first time I saw it, but overall, it was in shit taste. If you were black and said your previous statements, you'd come off as a huge try-hard. I'm not going to let some random Serbian dude tell me as a black male in America what I should and should not be fuckin offended by, ok?
Hey guys I'm black Did you know I'm black? I am black
Its very unfortunate that this is really the only thing that anyone in this thread would ever agree on. Now when you start talking about what part of this thread has the "cancer"...
Pretty much all of it. You've got the idiots that don't think this is racist (hint it is, it's racist humor it has to be racist), then you've got the people that are outraged over that, and then you've got the people who are further outraged over the people who got outraged. It's so fucking stupid when this shit happens on Facepunch.
Then stop fucking posting. If you stop, they will stop as well because no one has anything to discuss. It's not that fucking hard. It's either argue with people about Chinese detergent commercials or listen to the sounds of people vomiting and writhing in pain.
Pretty much all of it. It's so fucking stupid when this shit happens on Facepunch.
Merriam Webster defines racism as follows
Full Definition of racism 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
Did the creators of this laundry detergent commercial believe that Chinese people are superior to black people? In the case of the Italian one, that black people are superior to white people? Was either commercial intended to convey the message that one race was better than the other? No? Then it's not racist. That's objective fact. Unless you intend to tell me that you know better than Merriam-Webster.
Hey guys I'm black Did you know I'm black? I am black
Maybe you don't know what thread we're in but in a discussion about race and whether certain groups are offended him being black is kinda relevant.
The theme of dark skin = inferior person is wretchedly common throughtout the histories of many places.
I'm stuck in the hospital for the next few hours. It's either argue with people about Chinese detergent commercials or listen to the sounds of people vomiting and writhing in pain.
I'm sorry for you then man, but at the very least you could go watch some other Chinese detergent commercials. Arguing on the internet is pointless anyways, no one is going to change their opinion just because you argued against it.
I'm sorry for you then man, but at the very least you could go watch some other Chinese detergent commercials. Arguing on the internet is pointless anyways, no one is going to change their opinion just because you argued against it.
I don't argue with people because there's a point, I argue with people because it's fun I mean if you wanted to do something worthwhile you wouldn't be on an Internet forum to begin with
A racist joke is never funny A joke using race as a setup can very well be funny The trouble is that for a joke to be racist it has to be delivered with the meaning that one race is better than another - and actually mean it - which neither of the commercials in question have done
I can think of jokes that are racist and mean it, simply because of the shock or taboo nature of it makes it funny. I agree that this commercial isn't like those but to make a blanket statement like "racist jokes are never funny" is missing the subjectivity of humor, as there is no universal humor. I can see saying they're never funny as an authoritative "you shouldn't like that because it's racist" but liking a joke doesn't mean you agree with it.
Merriam Webster defines racism as follows Did the creators of this laundry detergent commercial believe that Chinese people are superior to black people? They're both racist. Get over it.

Yes, yes you are!
Dude, the Italian commercial is racist because it implies that colored people are better then white ones and the chinese one is racist because it implies that Asian people are better than black people. Critical thinking can be fun. Or at least enlightening.
