I tried combing the thread but couldn't find anyone who mentioned this I wonder why it was shortened, that's a pretty big omission.
i'm not sure how the ad would even work shortened
Just for reference, I showed this commercial to the four other black people that I live with in my house and they were repulsed by the commercial. Just in case you guys are upset by the fact that I was upset for the black friends and family that I do have.
Literally the only thing I took out of the ad is that the detergent is supposedly so effective that it'll whiten not only the clothes but also the skin of a person if someone were to put themselves in the washing machine My first impression after watching it was the realization of oh god, some people on the internet will probably look too deep into this and make it out to be some sort of anti-black propaganda and look at it now. Looking at it from that criteria I'd say the Italian ad is the racist one by slapping "colored is better" right on your face
There is a real talent behind playing this oblivious and dumb to deny that the ad is racist. Nobody would go as far as to say it's "anti black propaganda". You are just exaggerating the oppositions viewpoint and make something ridiculous out of it to seem more right. That was basically a strawman. Dude, I think it's a pretty well known insult that racist people call blacks dirty looking. Not because they are actually dirty, but because their skin has the same color as dirt. Obviously people are getting exactly this vibe from this ad. That it's saying the black guy is dirty, he got cleaned and therefor turned into someone fair skinned. And that's not far fetched as an assumption to make since East Asia in general is pretty xenophobic and racist.

Get the hell outta here with that garbage, off the high horse. But no obviously me and the people who agreed with me on this are just being willfully dishonest because we just love coming to Facepunch to argue about these things, there's no way we'd ever give an honest opinion on something, only a controversial one. You people are the ones exaggerating.
God damn 6 pages of debate over a fucking laundry commercial. I am pretty sure you can all rest easy knowing that no one is going to truly change via opinions of random people whether in real life or online and no matter how much you scream and shout here's whats going to happen: - People will still be racist - People will still get offended over stupid shit - People will still defend their opinions to the death even over something ridiculously petty (ITS THE PRINCIPLE!!11) It is about time people realize that you and your loved ones should be the only thing you give a true flying fuck about opinion wise and even then youll disagree, because there will always ALWAYS be someone who disagrees with you. Humans have a capacity for intelligence which gives us all the power of being a single unique entity that will never perfectly match another one. That means until we start fucking with our genes and the human population there will always be someone who thinks you are dumb, racist or imperfect in some other way so get over it.

I don't think six pages of arguing is necessarily bad.
Frankly, unless you're able to literally cite racial motivations from the creators, I feel the ad is no more racist than one where: This dog - [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/jtkq1Gd.jpg[/IMG_thumb] is washed into this dog - . Its humor derives from the detergent being effective enough to wash away something generally known to be immutable.
yeah it was p. funny
the ad is incredibly unapologetically racist and i there's no way you can claim otherwise with a straight face. they're literally saying black people are dirty
Yes, clearly black dogs have been systematically oppressed, persecuted, and subject to centuries of slavery and discrimination by white dogs.
But have black dogs been systematically oppressed, persecuted, and subjected to centuries of slavery and discrimination by yellow dogs?

It would sure make things a whole lot simpler. But, sadly, I'm stuck in the gray, gray world of unseen motives and subjective interpretation.
