oh my fucking zeus, you guys fucking believe that things would actually roll over to a fascist/communist state of things?
"Yes" lost, yeah, jokes all around
but please, don't you dare underestimate the economic potential of a whole nation with coldwar low anecdotes.

No...
We were joking about democracy. It has its flaws but whenever anybody mentions those flaws or criticises those flaws they get branded as an extremist/nazi/facist/communist.
I personally support independent scotland and think it would produce a more democratic system then then UK. They couldn't separate but it might not be a bad thing, if we're lucky parliament will see why they wanted to leave and fix the parliamentary system for everyone.

What Economic Potential?
Did Scotland find a new cache of Oil to sell to America for loads of money?
No?
Then Scotland would become instantly poor.
I sincerely hope Westminster deliveres on the promises it made to the No campaign, however they are already argueing about.

Better to have a poor nation with a fair distribution of wealth and a respectable welfare system than a rich nation with a bad distribution of wealth and a slowly crumbling welfare system.

No. I just don't want to get caught in a crowd at Buchanan street/George Square.

How stupid are they? It's like they're trying to prove the point of the Former Yes campaign.
I can't tell any alternatives, but i can tell you that it was a shitty method of choosing if Scotland should be independent or not. There are still 1,539,920 people who wants Scotland to be independent. I dont think it is gonna sit well with them.
If it doesn't go well, then it's for the better.
How much more messed up would it get when the whole vote thing happened again? (Tends to come up a lot in democracies.)
The future of devolution seems likely to be an election issue, I find it hard to believe they can get it into law before May.
[editline]19th September 2014[/editline]
I'd prefer a constitutional convention really
You little bastards wont get away that easily
all I have to say is: scotland, please vote with that kind of turnout for the next general election
We promise you stuff if you stay
lol jk ur fucked m8
It's very much worth pointing out that it was the party leaders that signed the pledge. If their MPs then block those attempts, there's nothing those leaders can really do.
The fact that says "Tory REVOLT" should tell you that isn't the party line.
Thank god. Thought scotland will really go independent

Then out comes the three line whip.
Promising something you cant't deliver is detestable and is reneging on promises isn't what should be happening after a vote like what just happened, it was very close and the entire government should be thinking how they can stop it from happening again and how to keep the peoples confidence.

The North Sea alone has two thirds of Europes total oil reserves, plus the West Coast is expected to have just as much, possibly more.

So we can choose between the red dickhead or the blue dickhead?
Are people that fuzzy about it that they will just go out and beat random people in the streets?
Brits do this when their team didn't shoot as many balls into a net than the other team, this is normal :v:
So we can choose between the red dickhead or the blue dickhead?
if you gave enough of a shit, you could choose a green dickhead
really though, maybe if we could get the red dickhead things would be slightly better
And thus the Tories and right wing bastards of the mono-political south will continue to put a stranglehold on the progress of Scotland.
Well done, No voters, congrats.
mono-political south
I can confirm there was never such a thing as a labour government of the united kingdom
I can confirm there was never such a thing as a labour government of the united kingdom
Nor is the current government a coalition of a right, and centre-right parties.
Good outcome, I was hoping for this.
I can confirm there was never such a thing as a labour government of the united kingdom
Labour aren't exactly left wing anymore. New Labour under blair was pretty right wing with many policies similar to tories.
Also Labour are fairly conservative in that they don't really put forward progressive laws. They also don't really have the power to do anything. Rebuying council houses, nationalising the railways/utilities, renationalising the royal mail are all out of the question and once the tories maul the NHS that will also be out of reach. They might be slightly different from tories but not much and in terms of what they can do to swing us back to the left they might as well be identical.
Its easier to sell something for discount rate (royal mail) than it is to buy it back and renationalise it.
Now we have a choice between the Blue Tories, the Red Tories and the Yellow party-fellating-the-Blue-Tories. Or a wasted ballot (The Greens).
Thanks no voters.

Its not like the last 3 governments were labour. Or that our last 2 prime minister's were scottish or anything.
A vote for independence would of been a fatal blow to Scottish labour and some serious damage to UK labour without the MPs to call on in its traditional party heartland. Leaving us with nothing but right wing politicians in the south, and a single party state of the SNP in scotland.
Well done rational no voters, you prevented untold political stagnation and misery for the future generations of Scotland.
Vote purple cunts instead
