Wasn't there a law passed that you were prohibited from being charged / sued for jailbreaking hardware you owned?
Only Applied to Mobile Devices
Yeah I'm going to get arrested and taken over to America to go to a court hearing about how I tried doing something to a console.
If that's what sony wants to do, it's a waste of time. Sony just wants to boost their image and this is not the way to do it.
I guess it is otherwise they wouldn't of been granted the ability to do it by a federal magistrate.
Yes, by an american magistrate, this releases ip's from people worldwide.
Fucking Sony. They really couldn't let a small percent of the PS3 community have their PS3s hacked? I mean really, Microsoft has known XBOXs can be jtagged or whatever and they haven't done shit because they know it's not gonna hurt their sells much, but Sony has to flip their shit and ban everyone who ever visited a site not even completely focused on that PS3 hack.
Someone is invading everyones privacy? No way! This is unheard of! :derp:
Face it, there is no privacy in the world. Really you are all trusting people on a daily basis to keep your personal information which I shall call secrets for my example. You can trust anyone with your secrets until someone comes along and offers something in return for or forcibly gain access to said secrets. In this case all it took was Sony to whip out their Lawyers to get the hosts of the website to provide IP addresses from previous and future visits.

This is in fact the perfect example of black mail.
Someone email Sony a video of them cheating on Call of Duty on the PS3 or something
Only Applied to Mobile Devices
Will it apply if I modded my ps3 to be a mobile device?
Ok so let's say they have your IP address and they know your name and where you live. They can't do anything and they can't prove anything.
What can they even accuse you of?

Nothing that they could or couldn't do already or get info for.
Oh god is Sony going to hack me and steal my PGP keys too?
No, fuck you sony.
Sony needs to :frog:
Do Sony have any toys left to throw out the pram?
They must be down to the frame by now.
Waaaah Sony did something that doesn't affect me I'm going to not buy a Sony product because I think it makes a difference to them!

Hey, Gadhafi is killing his own civilians, but it's ok since it doesn't affect me.
So they are going to include all of the limera1n downloaders in this, right?
I'll tear up any letter I receive from sony, they can fuck off

There will be no lawsuits...you guys need to go back and read the article. It doesn't matter if you changed your IP, they want to see HOW MANY PEOPLE ACCESSED HIS SITE and WHERE they accessed it from so they can calculate damages and plan where the trial for the hacker will be held. How else do you expect them to calculate damages for their lawsuit if they don't have the numbers to do it with?

That could bring you a lot more problems than just reading the letter and getting a legal adviser to look at it.
I don't own a PS3, so Sony can suck it.
So... Sony knows that if they sued half of their customers, they would go out of business, right?

"It must have gotten lost in delivery, sorry"
Ok..everyone in this thread needs to learn how to read the articles and not the thread titles.. they are not sueing individuals, they are using the info as evidence and to calculate damages for the trial against the Ps3 hacker.
READ_THE_ARTICLE. sony is not tracking down and suing individuals who looked on his site
This is how a PS3 dies.
But good job sony, we all knew your high-tech mini super computer box wasn't going to make it with your awful management. You're inability to handle to sensitive cases. Your ignorance in handling public opinion. This is how you make yourself a name. Put yourself up on top, to show the world, the xbox is king.

Not showing up in court doesn't prevent the from doing anything (even makes there job easy) .
Hahaha what do they think they're going to do with those IP's?
It's not like they can ban them, in fact anything on that kind of threshold would be very very bad.
if they keep this up, Sony's Next Generation Portable will be an Last Generation Portable.
Give it a rest already Sony. You already looked like an ass for trying to stop everyone. even the ones who hardly did anything
So I'll be banned even before I buy a PS3.
You just lost a sale, silly Sony. Hopefully your antics don't carry over to the NGP.

ITI: People can't read.
Wow, Sony are so immature with this.
Sony is so retarded. Just let it go. Hackers always win.
