This is like arresting someone for owning a knife because it's possible to kill someone with it. It's ludicrous.
No it isn't. Holy fuck are you lot that stupid you can't even read a article instead of posting knee-jerk reactions? Sony are only gathering these to work out what damage may have been done (how many people saw the hack, how many downloaded it, etc) and where to hold the trial. They are not banning the addresses, or using them in any other way. Plus it is an IP address, it isn't exactly personal information that they can ruin your life with.
I'm going to download the hack to say SCREW YOU SONY! [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] I don't even have a PS3.
Just visited it and I don't have a PS3.

Wow I have actually never even been to his site
Good job fueling Sony's legal battle both of you.
Or they could be fueling GeoHot's legal battle, send him an email of people posting online stating they visited his site and even downloaded files but don't actually own a PS3. It would certainly make the numbers less relevant.
Too bad I was behind a PROXY! :science:
Too bad I was behind a PROXY! :science:
Oh no! They are also good at giving away IP's if people start demanding them.
Good luck, I'm behind 9001 proxies, sony.
hidemyip is a great little program.
Good thing I don't own a PS3, thus resulting in me not visiting his site.
For fuck's sake, the people who keep trying to be manly tough internet guys doing serious internet buisness just get the fuck out now. You're being massive douches for an already fucked up situation! We all knew it was going to come to a head like this. We all knew what was going to happen. Sony did and so did the user base.
Everyone's IP That Ever Visited TpB since 2009 now In Sony's Hands. I would be very scared if i read that :( but they are doing this so people get scared that's about it.
Oh no they have my IP. Oh wait, we're all changing to IPv6 soon :downs:
Well, thank GOD I visited right after New Years!
