And probably the healthiest way to remove that dead flesh. Maggots won't eat live flesh, only dead stuff that's unsavable anyway. If you find yourself in a situation like this, just let 'em eat, no matter how much it disgusts you.
Damn, driving in Australia is dangerous. Everything is upside down AND you have to watch out for Kangaroos.
Shit is crazy.

Heh, that's a new one.
Now on topic, I'm glad she made it out alive. It must have been really shitty to be stuck there for about 3 days.
She told police she swerved to miss a kangaroo and lost control
Well... that's an interesting way to crash.

Gross, but another thing that may have saved her life. They eat dead tissue so they're cleaning the wound. Hospitals put maggots on wounds to clean them out sometimes if the injury is bad enough.
Gross.
Gross, But not a bad thing, They would eat the decomposed flesh and leave the non-decomposed flesh.

Actually, not all maggots are good for this. The ones hospitals use are a specific breed, blue-bottle flies if I recall. Screwfly maggots, however, are not at all suited for this.

Fucking kangaroos.
In case anyone is interested in seeing maggots in action:

Don't they teach them not to swerve dramatically at this kind of stuff? This is an awful scenario, but you aren't supposed to just cut the wheel 90 degrees and pray you come out of it.

The United States officially eradicated the screw-worm in 1982 using the sterile insect technique.
Amurrika!!
Is it satirical that I laughed at the rhyme in the title.
That is amazing she survived.

We all have a bone to pick with you and your terrible puns. That wasn't even remotely amusing.

Too bad that's not the case everywhere. If I remember correctly, these were screwfly maggots.

Not media-tagging it because holy balls is it gross.
Ms McKnight tried to amputate her leg to set herself free after her phone battery died.
Damn you iPhone and your low battery life!
"A GRANDMOTHER who survived 75 hours pinned under her car tried to amputate her own leg to set herself free after her mobile phone battery died as she tried to call for help."
"75 hours pinned under her car"
at that age, wow, what a damn troop
It's the story of Christmas, maggots give the gift of life. Maggots eat the dead flesh before gangrene can set in. Then, while you're trapped and hungry, you can pick out and eat the plump maggots which serve as an emergency source of protein.
