Hell is still considered a Bad word?
It's like the lowest tier of bad words. Just barely above "substitutes" for more significant bad words like "darn" or "crud".
How is hell still a bad word, not even in middleschool it's considered one. I remember back in grade 8 we made our teach yell out "fuck" about 3 times.

But "hell" isn't even close to a profanity worth refusal to give a diploma. I might understand if she said like something racist, but she didn't. And am sure some of my teachers have said hell before. I mean hell goes in the like Z list profanities like crap or darn or dang. Its silly really.
Are they seriously making all this fuss and even censoring the word hell? I wasn't even aware it was offensive or anything, I mean come on people say it all the bloody time!
I don't see what the big deal is. The use of the word "hell" obviously proves her four years of high school did absolutely nothing and she should be thankful they just held it instead of shredding it. All the passed exams and stacks of homework in the world does not excuse such savage behavior. Her father should be ashamed and she should live in shame with nothing to show for her time spent in school.
hell's in the bible, so it's ok right
deploma, heh heh.
It's even more retarded when you realize it takes over 12 years to get a high school diploma.
in elementary school yes (man, i remember when 'crap' was a bad word too)
We read The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-time when we were 10 as a book study. This school is just pathetic.
I remember in about 7th grade, my school made a rule against saying a bunch of things like sucks, crap, freaking, and all those other words that aren't even considered swear words.

To even believe that she would say such a terrible word, she should be in prison... I'm gonna throw up
The reason why society in general places stigma on the regular use of vulgar words is because they are disdainful and derisive in nature, and their addition to text or speech instantly makes it sound abusive in tone. Regardless of how prudish and sensitive you might think this sounds, encouraging people to moderate their use of foul language is an effective way for not having to occasionally listen to the vitriolic un-pleasantries of the people you interact with in your day-to-day lives, even if it's not directed at you. [editline].[/editline] That being said though when someone does happen to curse, censoring them is stupid.
I had a history teacher in middle school that said "bitchin" every other sentence. He was bitchin'. everybody knew, nobody cared. Who is the apology letter supposed to be to anyway? The other high school kids who swear all the time?
Ive heard middle school teachers say hell, for fucks sake, this is a high school graduation.
my fucking junior high science teacher literally said this in class one day: "Rap isn't what it used to be. Back in the 80's, it had meaning. Now it's just about getting drugs, money, and bitches." This high school blows.

I think most high schools in America have To Kill A Mocking Bird on their list of shit you must read. It says far worse shit than HELL bad Language is bullshit. There's no such thing. None. How you use words is what's bad, and you can use completely innocent words to do more damage than any 'curse word'
She earned the diploma, they just look stupid and impotent by trying to use the diploma to punish her when she no longer is subject to their whims. Those administrators should write an apology to the country for acting more childish than their students.

I had to read to kill a mockingbird in my freshman year. We even read parts to the class, and it was full of words like shit, cunt, and nigger (especially the last one). Why does a simple "hell" matter?
This is even more idiotic than the ban on the word "fuck" in some US city.

Man arrested for cooking during burn ban
Jesus what is wrong with this place
What a monster.
How is hell still a bad word, not even in middleschool it's considered one.
I think most high schools in America have To Kill A Mocking Bird on their list of shit you must read. It says far worse shit than HELL
I don't think it does. Though Catcher in the Rye is generally there too, and that definitely has much worse stuff. Fuck, how do they even read Shakespeare with all the lame sex jokes?
One 5th grade teacher I had called one of the kids a bitch (he was kind of a bitch though :v:) in the middle of class one day.
where are his eyebrows?
in hell
I remember I said shit infront of my teacher, she's all strict and shit, but she just calmly told me not so loud. :v: This was in seventh grade.

I had an awesome teacher who called us all niggas :v: He was African American, but used it for everyone. One day I came in with a poetry assignment done and he was like, "My nigga, I can't wait for you to present this to the class." Another time one of my friends who was a sort of school joker was goofing around and our teacher said, "Nigga, why you talkin all that whack?"
