I am probably the only one here that think so, but if this means it's also removed from schools it's a good thing.
I can totally see why they chose to ban it along with the campaign thing. It's not a big deal to get it if you really wanted to, but it gives a clear signal that sugary drinks are not the best for your body.
tax fat and underweight people instead isnt that easier then banning fucking everything and you make more money yes
I still dont agree with the ban on city property. A kid cant even drink a gatorade at school anymore.
I saw the commercials on TV today right after a news report about them. :v:
I agree with the ban and the public ad campaign. I've had to stop drinking soda all together recently because the enamel on one of my teeth eroded, which my dentist attributed to sugary drinks.

So how many people failed to read the article and think soda is banned city-wide?
I still think it's dumb, what, I can't get a little sugar pickup when I'm at the DMV, or getting mail at the post office?
Bah.
The Government isn't excluded from freedom...they have the freedom to make the decision to ban really sugary drinks to help people live better. I don't get why you people see shit so one sided.
You're not stopped from getting it on company owned properties and shit.
Bottled Water is bullshit.
So are "diet" beverages.

How so
Until we get universal healthcare, I am fine with people banning fattening foods.
Fat people have so many health issues that it raises rates on healthcare almost exponentially.
Anything to lower rates is a good thing, no matter how controversial it may or may not be, it is still less money that I have to pay for some fatass to get medical treatment.
what the fuck boston
wow removing freedoms is fun right?
fuck should have read it dumb me.
I don't live in Boston, but I do live in Massachusetts.
I really doubt this is going to last, I mean really its an unpopular law which is like a soccer mom would pass. Ridiculous.
We'll dress up like terrorists instead of Indians and dump all the healthy drinks.
what the fuck boston

DID YOU READ THE ARTICLE.
THEY DIDN'T BAN IT.
THEY MERELY REMOVED THEM FROM CITY-OWNED AREAS, ANY PRIVATELY OWNED BUILDING OR AREA CAN STILL SELL THEM.
Fuck, can anyone read?
Oh this will work just fine. Just like it did with alcohol.
Oh wait.
Oh wait that isn't banned, but still, it's stupid to ban soda from public buildings. Atleast they can still get soda.
Oh this will work just fine. Just like it did with alcohol.

Yeah I remember that time when alcohol stopped being sold on city-owned areas. What a terrible period that was.
Oh wait.
"100 percent juices" are like ten times less healthy than like, 7up.
Now there's gonna be another Boston massacre.
Or a tea party. A sweetened iced-tea party.
Authoritarianism alert

It's not that bad at all, too. It's just that the mayor doesn't want to be supplying these drinks for certain people to get fatter on. Some of the potential buyers could use the exercise walking down to the store as well.
I'm really surprised no one has posted a Scout joke

Damn, just about to do that too
Prohibition: 21st century version
What if I -want- a sugary drink and don't mind being an obese person? Should it not be everyone's freedom to choose for themselves?
What if I -want- a sugary drink and don't mind being an obese person? Should it not be everyone's freedom to choose for themselves?
It's causing the city money problems
What if I -want- a sugary drink and don't mind being an obese person? Should it not be everyone's freedom to choose for themselves?
Then buy your sugary drink somewhere that isn't city property.
Boston soda party?
Fuck yeah.
Not a big deal, it's only in public buildings.
[editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
My school did this, too, wasn't a big deal at all. Pretty stupid and bias, 'fruit drinks' were allowed, which often had the exact same caloric content as a soda.
Does no one know how to read? The city is removing sugary sodas from it's rented soda machines. Meaning on city owned property. Not restaurants, not gas stations.
I've had sugary soda help me out before, I was with a diabetic who needed sugar.
I've got a friend over from America talking about how great it is over there. I've been coonteracting his 'freedom' argument with the fact that such a thing as jaywalking exists. I'll be adding this to the list.
What the fuck?
By jaywalking you're putting yourself and others to risk, how the hell is preventing jaywalk anti-freedom?
