Because this is a British culture thing
you are absolutely wrong. most of them don't even live in the UK.
Because this is a British culture thing, this is something which pretty much every single person in the UK will come into contact with is a group of travelers, whether they are one of the good group of travelers who just pass by without a fuss as many of them are, or one of the bad groups which cause problems where-ever they go.
yo, here's the thing. I don't need to encounter a vast group of people to know it's not ok to hate them as a group.
I haven't posted anything of substance because I am shit at explaining things in words
you've demonstrated that
Look, whether you meant it or not, nearly everyone in this thread has been referring to "gypsies", a name most commonly used for Romanis, and to come back through and say "well I didn't mean them just a different kind of 'gypsies' that has an entirely different meaning" just seems disingenuous.
I'm sorry if it seems that way, but in this case I am telling the truth. If you've seen me rant about things like the death sentence and religion, you'd know I'm the standard atheistic liberal, and I'm afraid I just don't have it in me to be a racist.
if you people weren't talking about the race then you wouldn't call the thieves in your various anecdotes "gypsies", you would call them "thieves"
Well in the UK gypsy is just another word for pikey and usually is in reference to a thief, the word has changed. Where I am from anyway we usually refer to them as travelers.
I haven't posted anything of substance because I am shit at explaining things in words but please tell me how race and ROMANI people have come into question
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people "Romani are also widely known in the English-speaking world by the exonym Gypsies."
here's the fact icemaz. i'm pretty sure i know a lot more than you have because i've read up and traveled abroad. what the fuck have you done to understand anyone? all i've seen you do is throw ineffective insults at people. you're just some british kid, how does that make you an expert on anything? i bet you most people on this forum from america know more about britain than you do because they've proved it and all you've proven is that you don't really know anything which includes proper usage of english grammar.
well then don't post that "only a minority of gypsies are good people"
Gyspies also only started being scholarized not too long ago and most of them (in the 80% range) don't finish their high school studies and this was reported by several different newspapers. They also cite segregation which is true since when I went to school they were there selling drugs to the whites and using the football zone all day long instead of going to class like they are supposed to. They also got hold of areas of the playground for themselves and for the cool drug addicts that sponsored them, the teachers never went to that zone. My point again is that 80% is a high # of them never finishing obligatory school and therefore must rely on their previous cultural way of living.

I'm afraid I don't see the need to come out and say "yeah these gypsies, they're all thieves!!", when you could just as easily say "thieves should go to jail" and accomplish the same damn thing.
I'm sorry if it seems that way, but in this case I am telling the truth.
no you are not, you're lying and making up stuff to convince other people to take up the same hatred you have. the world isn't going to get better with your opinions floating about.
you are absolutely wrong. most of them don't even live in the UK.
No it is because I don't think people when they say "I hate gypises" intend for it to be the race, just the group of people down the park who are being twats and causing problems for the community (and in no way meaning the romani groups or anything). I think it's just a misguiding of the world and is hence why I always like to refer to them as travelers and not gypsies because if I meant gypsies I would've said it. I don't know about the other people saying it though, I'm just speaking for my interpretation of their posts (which is different to your one)

You suddenly know my fucking history now do you. I'm trying to create a certain leeway here because you are assuming that those "Racist hate comments" are against the race, and I'm trying my hardest here to make it clear that that's not how British people use the world Gypsie in everyday life in reality. Oh and for the record, I know enough through direct interaction about traveler families to talk about it.

I don't know, but you were the first to come out with this "you have no idea you're american" nonsense.
I always like to refer to them as travelers and not gypsies
ugh travelers and gypsies are two different groups mr. superbrit. there are irish travelers which are incorrectly called gypsies by idiots and there are the roma groups who are called gypsies because people for some weird fucking reason thought they were from egypt.
no you are not, you're lying and making up stuff to convince other people to take up the same hatred you have. the world isn't going to get better with your opinions floating about.
Well I'm sorry, but I am telling to truth. There's very little I can do to prove that and even less you can do about it.
Really, so despite the fact that the most commonly-used term for Romanis is gypsy, you continue to insist that you don't actually mean that kind of gypsy, just a meaning that exists nowhere outside of your area?
I'm saying my interpretation was that, like I said it's up for those that posted such comments to justify themselves about it and I'm just assuming that's what they meant as a British person, considering how in pretty much everyday conversation that's how people here use it with me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Traveller "Travellers are often referred to by the terms "gypsies",[4] "didicoy", "tinkers" or "knackers"."
How do you know how much I've traveled or how much I've researched on this?
it's obvious from the way you post lol.
You suddenly know my fucking history now do you. I'm trying to create a certain leeway here because you are assuming that those "Racist hate comments" are against the race, and I'm trying my hardest here to make it clear that that's not how British people use the world Gypsie in everyday life in reality.
yeah i worked pretty hard to make sure i never mentioned race. i'm just saying you are in no position to say other people don't know what they are talking about when you're not really saying anything amazingly informative either. basically stop rubbing your cock on everyone. it's annoying.
Really, so despite the fact that the most commonly-used term for Romanis is gypsy, you continue to insist that you don't actually mean that kind of gypsy, just a meaning that exists nowhere outside of your area?
Actually, it's very common, which is why I'm saying a similar thing and we're both from Britain.
There's very little I can do to prove that.
yeah exactly so uh... just don't say anything and we're have a better peaceful world once your mindset dies off. take one for the team.

I'm afraid I don't speak Spanish.
i was born in england and traveled europe for most of my life. you are the one who doesn't know what he's on about. i've actually talked and lived with gypsies because i wanted to know how they live. you guys don't wanna know the truth about gypsies, you just wanna swallow the same old cultural narratives because it fits your worldview. i'm not pretending to be high and mighty, i'm just saying you're not gonna find the truth behind the world sitting at a computer writing bigoted things.
The fuck are you on about defending gypsies? Here in Romania I see gypsies all day begging, stealing, going through garbage and making a shitload of kids so they can get more money from the state and to send them to beg. Most gypsies as lazy as fuck (most, since there are some gypsy villages inhabited by hard-working people that usually make pots and that kind of things, which I respect), the concept of working for money is unknown to them. Here gypsies have less work to do than actual romanians to become something in life, but they still don't. Here they have free university, while us native romanians have to pay for it, they can even get concilours that will help them get jobs. But guess what, most just stay with begging and spending their day through garbage bins. So stop trying to defend such people as gypsies, they don't deserve it
ugh travelers and gypsies are two different groups mr. superbrit. there are irish travelers which are incorrectly called gypsies by idiots and there are the roma groups who are called gypsies because people for some weird fucking reason thought they were from egypt.
No yes, I know that hence why I made that distinction. As I keep saying there is a misguided use of the word in England and it's creating problems here in this thread, I'm trying to clear it up.
Actually, it's very common, which is why I'm saying a similar thing and we're both from Britain.
For the sake of this example, let's just say people in California called Asian criminals "chinks" as a common thing. If I came into this thread and just started going on about how "the chinks are raised to be criminals", you probably wouldn't look at it too reasonably, would you?
