It does sadden me. I like Nintendo, and I have since I was old enough to play video games (which was actually since I was 2, apparently), but they really sold themselves short on the Wii. Sure a few of their original games are great like Metroid, Zelda, Brawl, but there's so much crap released for it and the Wii is already largely outdated graphics-wise. I'm not even a huge stifler for graphics, but it really shows sometimes, especially since they were already slightly outdated when the Wii came out.
Nintendo's games have mostly been really good (SM:G, Tp, NSMBW, etc). They don't have control over third party releases. Nintendo is not working for high-end graphics, they are working on new innovative ways to interact with games. They could work on more realistic graphics, but then it's just like every other console out there. Look at Move or Natal. Without either of those addons, the PS3 and Xbox are pretty much the same console other than their game selection and some graphical differences (online services too I guess). Playing a game on the Wii is a completely different experience than playing on a different console, and that's exactly what Nintendo wanted (and look how well it's selling).
First thing that popped into my head was a DS with 3 screens :v:
 also the first thing i thought of when i saw "3DS" was "3DO"
Oh god 3DO makes me remember
It's not a "real" ds, It's a new console.
True, but it definitley doesn't help that they keep rehashing the title "DS" in the system. I guess you could say the same for GameBoy and GameBoy Advance, so *shrug*
First I was like "Is it April 1st already?" then I was like "No, it's not.. :flashfap:" This sounds awesome, & I've not been optimistic about Nintendo lately
It's not a "real" ds, It's a new console.
One that is most likely intended "to succeed "Nintendo DS series". To bad they couldn't do this earlier. I would have loved to play Chrono Trigger DS with 3D effects such as the time warping scene.
I wonder if they'll make a DS ultimate before they launch their next big thing.
Oh god 3DO makes me remember
Damn you made me remind aswell. That game used to be bloody hard :S
doesn't this use nvidia tegra?

That's why it's doing so well: there are far more regular people than there are gamers and none of the other consoles or PC developers are targeting regular people. Titles like Twilight Princess and New Super Mario Bros I think are Nintendo throwing its diehard fans a bone to get them to shut up for a few seconds.
So the DSi XL is a DSi but it's bigger and has that new stylus? And the DSi is a DS Lite but it's smaller and without a GBA slot. Instead, it has two 0.3MP cameras and an SD card slot. It seems they really screwed up with these two iterations of the DS. If the DSi XL was going to have any new features, it should've brought back the GBA slot. That would've prompted me to buy it but instead, it's just bigger than the last DS you had. [editline]05:32PM[/editline] And now the announce the 3DS - which apparently has new hardware. I will be keeping an eye on this one.
Ahh, so it works like the method this guy uses:
I thought of this video when I heard 3D without glasses. I tried that out myself, it's really cool. [editline]12:24PM[/editline]
my hunch is they mean something like:
This is cool too, pretty much the same thing. [editline]12:25PM[/editline] Only DS I ever got was the first one on launch day, so I might get this one.

The newspaper's online edition reports that the 3DS will feature a thumb stick for controlling movement in a 3D plane as well as rumble functionality. The handheld will also reportedly feature greatly enhanced battery life, improved network connectivity, and a screen size that's smaller than four inches.
But before we release Nintendo 3ds, Lets introduce the Nintendo DSi, the DSi XL, And soon the DSi XXL.
Hey look at Sony. The PSP's redesigns are just hardware changes basically. At least Nintendo implemented new features.
they're hardware changes in the same sense that the DS versions are (spare the camera bits)
At the first moment i tought they were going to think about graphics. Finally.
nvidia tegra [editline]06:30AM[/editline]
doesn't this use nvidia tegra?
yeah [editline]06:34AM[/editline]
More info: http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6254031.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;1
Enhanced battery? 8 hours was really long... they're gonna extend it even more? [editline]06:35AM[/editline] also fuck yeah thumb stick
I'm hopeful for the homebrew that will come from this. :v:

They'd have to develop 2 different ones for both of the handhelds.

talk about the 3ds here
Wow, it's like Nintendo is making up for all the shit they did years ago. Power Glove = Wii Virtual Boy = 3DS
Imagine playing Dementium II on that thing.
Oh fuck me, they're bringing out something else already :|
Another version? The fuck?
Another version? The fuck?
It's the successor, not a new DS.
Thought it was dumb until I saw that video D: That's cool stuff there. Aren't they releasing the DSiXL already though ?
*sigh* Just another gimmicky system, Nintendo...
