We have Red's Apple Ale that they've been pushing on TV, and it's the weakest tasting apple juice shit. I end up only drinking Angry Orchard because it has bite.
It is my experience that the lower the cost and higher the alcohol, the smellier the customer.
This thread is now cider discussion btw.
I find it quite ridiculous that this is cheaper than a bottle of water, wish I understood economics
the asdas near me sells plain 2L bottles of water for 9p each
this stuff is the fucking worst of all white ciders the Special Brew of cider
That can't be true, it's "the ultimate in quality"
Shouldn't store cider in cans. The metallic taste leaks into the cider.
Shouldn't store cider in cans. The metallic taste leaks into the cider.
I wonder if we can get a goat to tell us if the taste of the cider leaked into the can too?
That sounds disgusting and my choice of poison is lager.
Doing a ban on cheap alcohol isn't going to do much. Only thing that can really be done is education on Alcohol abuse and over consumption.
Exactly. I'd hazard a guess that the fall in smoking in recent years is more down to the increased availability and presence of accurate and unbiased education than by packaging changes and covering and other forms of attempted implementations of social engineering strategies.
Oh wow, I wish it was cheap like that here.
No you don't, you'll end up like Finland
Quite high for cider
It's kind of a misnomer. It's White Cider, which is only kinda sorta cider. It's also one of the cheapest, nastiest ways to get hammered; it's seriously down there with Russian surrogate alcohol.
Old Rosie
Had that on tap at the local pub i used to go to at uni. Very strong, not much fun the following morning.
I find it quite ridiculous that this is cheaper than a bottle of water, wish I understood economics
Isn't saying too much. Bottled water is a total scam.
The change in law meant we lost our staff discount on spirits and liqueurs at work. I normally drink cider so it's not too much of a loss (I seriously doubt Bulmers/Magners are ever gonna be sold anywhere near VAT + Duty prices), but I'm sad I can no longer buy dirt cheap Amaretto.
You wouldn't want to try white cider anyway, other strong ciders are just as nice, such as Old Rosie: 7.3%
most of what westons produce is good stuff [editline]8th April 2014[/editline]
Pretty high for a cider. It's not hard alcohol after all, most of its around 4.5% or something.
ehhh, there are plenty of 6+% ciders out there
Well I'm used to drinking 80 proof vodka most the time so id probably think it's pretty low because of that
yeh same i don't go to parties and drink for fun i drink parties to get FUCKED!!!!
That shit was my younger teen years in a bottle :v: Despite the low price, its not half bad. A staple part of any students diet!
Do they sell ciders in the US? I've never heard of ciders before, beside maybe one time in san fransisco.
I find it quite ridiculous that this is cheaper than a bottle of water, wish I understood economics
My fucking store honestly. We sell 24x600ml packs of water for $8, and from the exact same brand in the exact same variation (sparkling water) we sell 24x350ml packs for the same price of $8 and people still buy the latter. But yeah, from that brand you can buy a single 600ml bottle of water for $1, or look across the shelf and buy a 1.25L soft drink variety from the same brand (cola, lemonade, orange, lime etc) for only 90 cents. Does my head in. [editline]9th April 2014[/editline]
yeh same i don't go to parties and drink for fun i drink parties to get FUCKED!!!!
Getting fucked is fun, just not the depression phase of being drunk nor the following morning.
Well I'm used to drinking 80 proof vodka most the time so id probably think it's pretty low because of that I didn't mean to sound suspect but what I was saying, I drink vodka that's around 80 proof sometimes. I don't like ciders or beer. Maybe malts or something though. I don't drink it as it were beer. Maybe a fifth every now and again but that's very rare. I'm just used to people calling things high alcohol when it's liqour. I honestly never heard of ciders before today, even though I've tried some.
So what the fuck is an 80 proof vodka? Vodka is 40%, while medical ethanol is 95%.
So what the fuck is an 80 proof vodka? Vodka is 40%, while medical ethanol is 95%.
Isn't 40% = 80 proof?
Isn't 40% = 80 proof?
It is. Haha that makes darkride196 look pathetic, 'look how hardcore I am I drink 40% alcoholic spirits, although I have to dilute it 4:1 with something else to be able to stand it'.
So what the fuck is an 80 proof vodka? Vodka is 40%, while medical ethanol is 95%.
"Proof" isn't the same as vol (it's double, so something that is 80 proof is 40% vol. and something that is 60 proof is 30% vol. and so on).
You know what I fucking hate about cider? That here in Argentina it has been given a "poor's guy drink" social image. And so the ignorant society decides to stick to beer and vodka while ignoring the marvellous drink Cider is. Hell, even my friends make fun of it when I bring it to pres. "Lol dude are you drinking like a hobo?". Says the guy who's holding a can of beer. I forgot beer is only drinked by the upper most class. Let's start the cider revolution and bust all those motherfuckers.
Whoops, I guess maybe I needed to actually look up what the word meant and not try to derive it from the context :v:

Here it's the complete opposite - beer and goon (latter is really cheap wine, but not drank as if it were proper wine) are the drinks associated with the lower class, particularly bogans and lads. Meanwhile, cider is better associated with the upper-middle class and in particular women and university students.
just not the depression phase of being drunk nor the following morning.
As a sufferer of major depression, that bit is why I rarely go out drinking.

Cider is better than beer.
As a sufferer of major depression, that bit is why I rarely go out drinking.
Ideally if I decide one day I want to get more than just a bit tipsy (sometimes after I finish a 9 hour shift at work I have a cider or two, or a vodka mix with 25% vodka), my aim is to pass out before I reach the depression phase. But that's still probably not a good thing.
Hey, lobster used to be considered peasant food in the New England region of the States back two centuries. Cider is better than beer.
Not when you have sensitive teeth like me :( I used to love Magners and Bulmers, etc. over here in the UK but now I can't drink any of the ciders without my teeth hurting and not being able to bite without discomfort for a day or so after.
