Why do Sony even store card info, is there any reason to?
You mean on the sending CC data? That was all over the news due to a CFW exposing it or something to that nature.
Reliable source on the fact they use "plain text" for transactions? Can I have a link to a source that says this I don't watch "the news" [editline]27th April 2011[/editline]
Why do Sony even store card info, is there any reason to?
to make buying shit easier everyone does it, don't ask dumb questions
I don't even have a playstation 3, but I do have a psn account, should I do what most of the users are doing and just say someone stole my money.
You should actually stop posting, it's the new :c00l: thing to do.
Why do Sony even store card info, is there any reason to?
So those who buy things a lot won't have to constantly renter the same info every time?
I guess i should be fortunate that I never connected any form of card to my PSN account. I only ever used it to download the odd demo.
I keep checking my bank account every 2-3 hours :tinfoil:
Well, called my father to check on visa for anything odd and to just change his credit card. All I did was buy some costumes for littlebig planet months ago :sigh:

Fuck my brother bought something using my mother's credit card in his PS3. Going to tell my mother, better safe than sorry.
i mean there's idiots spreading FUD about plaintext used in credit card transactions based on some heresay of some unknown hacker and it should stop because it's unproven bullshit
It's just rumours and propaganda to try to keep us occupied.
Sony is so fucked. If refunding a lot of money and getting sued the shit out of them won't make them bankrupt. Then people not trusting the system that much anymore, and thus not buying it will surely make them go bankrupt.
Aw here it goes. Sony you so fucked.

They're one of the worlds largest companies for a reason.
i mean there's idiots spreading FUD about plaintext used in credit card transactions based on some heresay of some unknown hacker and it should stop because it's unproven bullshit
I understand now
Funny thing just happened, and I thought my uncle was gonna get screwed since him and I used his card to buy a few things off PSN (namely some Uncharted DLC and RDR:Undead Nightmare.) but then I remembered I brought his account over to my PS3 to bring the DLC over to my machine, and in doing so I wiped all the credit card information stored on the account and he hasn't bought anything on PSN since. and this was months ago, so I guess I'm in the clear?.

Even the ones older than a month

Shit's hit the fan pretty badly... When they find the people who did this their probably gonna put him in an arena alone with Godzilla.
Shit's hit the fan pretty badly... When they find the people who did this their probably gonna put him in an arena alone with Godzilla.
Or they may never find the ones responsible at all.
So when the article says that security codes have not been compromised, this means that our PIN number would have to be guessed right? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but we use different lingo over here in Australia.
Oh fuck.
:v: Are people still running around saying that sony used unencrypted text files? I thought we would've figured out that trusting any source on the internet that uses random chats and other easily faked rumors are null and void.
I hope they bankrupt.
