PSN Users Reporting Hundreds of Dollars Stolen From Them

I started freaking out, but I think I'm in the clear. My bank sent me a new card (something about them switching from visa to mastercard, I dunno) and I'm pretty sure that the one time I bought something was with that old card, which is now deactivated.
I'm still gonna check just to be safe, but I think I got the new card AFTER I used the old, deactivated one.
This is horrible news, this might jeopardize all Sony's plans, PSN updates, maybe even interfere somehow with game releases. I'm not even talking about PSN purchases because that's going to go down hard.
As a PS3 user, I find this worrying.
Is it every account information ever made on PSN they hacked? Cause i just bought Gran Turismo Prolouge like 1.5 years ago and my Playstation broke about half a year ago and havent used the account since.
We all know Anon is a supporter of "Information is free" but this is taking it a bit far...
Oh for fuck's sake.
I come back from Jamaica and see this shit.
Pretty sure I only had the info from my old, expired credit card on PSN. I hope so.
My info is in PSN. Just gotta sit back and hope nothing happens.

Same here. But from now on my games will not be bought on the ps3. :colbert:
This is fucking brilliant! They can trace the transactions to the person making the withdrawls! That stupid fucker is going to get it HARD.

The only thing I need to worry about is my password information. If they can find out what my email is linked to and try using my PSN password, they might be able to do some mean things. Simple solution. Change passwords!

Just use point cards.

Ways around that
Probably gigantic chain transactions, then they can slowly take the money out

Or he anonymously sold the credit card information for a lot of cash on the black market to a whole bunch of people
You know what would be funny and tragic at the same time? If the attacker(s) did in fact do it because of the whole OtherOS debacle.
Okay, we don't know anything about who or the motivations behind it and the chances are a bit slim considering the whole credit card business but the timing is a little too perfect considering the last few weeks.
Wanna buy my tinfoil hat? I have plenty, only slightly used

Question. What does the first set of negative numbers at the very top mean? Is it something like how many millions their value has decreased or something?
Oh Van-man, you mother...
If they dont get their asses sued off before
After the panic settles theres probably a huge lawsuit incomming
From Sony to every PSN customer because they gave Sony a bad reputation by having their stuff hacked (because of Sony in the FIRST place, but its Sony, they'll sue everything and everyone nowadays)

That's not just Sony, that's pretty much everyone.
We closed our bank account and opened a new one.

Maybe your tinfoil has been tampered with by the government! I'll make my own, THEY WON'T GET ME!
Is sony's stock serious $2500 per share in value???
And I like how the bar makes it look like they completely crashed when in reality its a 2% drop at the most. Granted in the stock world that is still signifigant but yeah.
I'm glad I chose Xbox over Playstation.
Still, I feel sorry for you guys :smith:

Youre right... I'm gonna trip on someone's doorway to sue them (true story)
Welp, lost about 600$. My credit card hadn't been used much for a month and that's what was left and now it's empty.
Great, i'm not really rich enough to afford this, but my parents are being saints and helping me.
Call your bank, you will get your money back.

You're not liable for any fraudulent use of your credit card, I'm sure you're rich enough to afford $0

Going to a restaurant with him must be great
"we'll split an order of water"
I'm not sure whether had to enter credit card information when signing up for PSN anymore. Does anyone know?
I bet that Microsoft hired these hackers to eliminate the competition between the PS3 and Xbox.
Microsoft would be smashed into the dirt and beaten into a pulp by federal investigations and lawsuits. The Microsoft board of directors isn't made up of idiots.
Last time our credit card was stolen, we had a 500 pack of variety condoms appear at our door, can't wait for a repeat.
