I'm not sure whether had to enter credit card information when signing up for PSN anymore. Does anyone know?
Not when signing up, no.
If you purchased something from the PSN store or added funds to your wallet than your credit card number is out there.
Last time our credit card was stolen, we had a 500 pack of variety condoms appear at our door, can't wait for a repeat.
When you filed the fraud claim did you get to keep the condoms
Got my debit card cancelled, as much as I hate to say it, Sony really, really dropped the ball, and I would love to sue them for not protecting my data well enough if it does turn out they didn't encrypt it. Thanks to the Data Protection Act it should be a easy thing to win.
Apparently everyone on Facepunch is a hotshot lawyer. I'll come to you guys when I get in trouble since you all seem to know the ins and outs of suing.
I JUST WANNA BUY SOME GAMES BEFORE I GO ON VACATION TO FLORIDA
Looks like Sony is getting pwnd!
Looks like Sony is getting pwnd!
Not really. Sure, Sony is obviously feeling the effects of this, but the real victims here are the 77 million plus users whose credit card details and money are at risk.
When somebody takes the fight to a big corporation, everyone cheers for them, and that can be a good thing. But when somebody takes the fight to all the little people?
Only scum would do that.
You do have to give Sony some props. Their console was the last to be hacked this generation, their network was also the last, even if it was the biggest clusterfuck of dumb ever. They did something right to have lasted this long without a major security breach.

:xd: yeah good postin bro keep it up
At first I hated Sony for giving hackers a hard time but now the tables have turned. No need for this sort of play.
I can't wait to find out who's behind this.
Guys, Sony received a devastating blow but will operate again and will, once more, bring profits.
If any of you are playing in the stockmarket, this is the time. There may be other falls but nothing influential enough to jeopardize your long-term profit.
cheers
i think i speak for everyone when i say
this is a huge fucking disaster that is going to fuck up sony, and a lot of people's lives.

ITP: 11 year old.
In case anyone didn't notice, Sony's total equity (net worth) is only $31 billion dollars, not trillions (which is measured in YEN).
oh fuck
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!
I thought I lost 60 bucks to those hackers but turns out it was 600! I've recently lost my job a while back and still cant find one. I was hoping to buy my mother a birthday presents but i guess those hackers didnt care of who they are hurting, I really wanted to buy her something nice too :smith:
I wish sony would have warn us a week ago.

You're not liable for that loss. Talk to your bank, get the card cancelled and head for Mexico. Those thieves know everything they need to commit identity fraud (though they will probably only use your CC).

Murphy's law, I suppose.
Insurance isn't needed, you're automatically protected.
Great news for the victims, hopefully everybody gets their money back :unsmith:
Though the hackers are totally going to get caught unless they sold the info on the black market insterd of taking the money riskily themselves. Better to walk away with a good sum of cash then get caught with billions.

That is so perfectly designed for technology that it isn't even funny, yet I doubt he had any idea how perfectly it would suit it.

And trust me, if they have the know-how to do this, they'll know how to launder the information into cold cash without it being traceable.
Either that or Sony's security really DID suck hard.
Sony are fucking morons
