Fuck Sony. It's their fault for being retards and pissing off the beast.
grrr how DARE they remove my ability to install linux! they just TEMPTED the wrath of THE NECKBEAR
Fuck Sony. It's their fault for being retards and pissing off the beast.
Except, you know, this attack wasn't motivated by that at all. The people who wanted CFW to be all right and OtherOS were attacking in ways that were a nuisance at best. This was flat out digital theft, motivated by the money. The people campaigning for homebrew would have no need to get these details, and would not do it to look like the better party.
According to Visa and Mastercard you are all liars. They apparently have had no reports of money being stolen yet.
What about Debit Card users.
grrr how DARE they remove my ability to install linux! they just TEMPTED the wrath of THE NECKBEAR
The Neckbear sounds like some sort of gulper eel bear hybrid. And that's fucking scary.
According to Visa and Mastercard you are all liars. They apparently have had no reports of money being stolen yet.
I never said the fraudulent use of my card was 100% for-sure because of this, it could have just been a coincidence
I never said the fraudulent use of my card was 100% for-sure because of this, it could have just been a coincidence
Not so likely though.
Look on the bright side everyone... If this hacker is caught, Sony and the law enforcement could torture them until every last penny is taken from him that he had profited from out of this, and maybe even force him to pay the debts of everyone he stole from.

Sony will have to pay up for this, no matter if (if) the hacker is caught.
grrr how DARE they remove my ability to install linux! they just TEMPTED the wrath of THE NECKBEAR
you are ok ok with companies dictating what you can and can't do with hardware you have purchased? its ok guys remove features from the shit i paid £300 for!! stop being an idiot
.....my mom just had $500 stolen, and my entire account was wiped clean my family has about $30 in cash, and that's all the money we have right now this is fucking fucked up
Everything's gonna be cool mate, they'll even pay you some debts.
you are ok ok with companies dictating what you can and can't do with hardware you have purchased? its ok guys remove features from the shit i paid £300 for!! stop being an idiot
As dickish as it is to remove a feature, removing it for securities sake is something they can do thanks to the agreements you are stuck with when using the console. Not like OtherOS was much use at the time, maybe for Internet browsing and some media centre stuff, but nothing overly challenging thanks to the limits Sony stuck on it.
If this hacker is caught, Sony and the law enforcement could torture them until every last penny is taken from him that he had profited from out of this
Um, no. You can't just torture criminals.
This happened to my friend... I couldnt help but laugh a little.
This happened to my friend... I couldnt help but laugh a little.
Why? Because he got money stolen?
As dickish as it is to remove a feature, removing it for securities sake is something they can do thanks to the agreements you are stuck with when using the console.
oh thats alright then /sarcasm
Um, no. You can't just torture criminals.
And private corporations can't storm into private citizens homes and take their hardware either, oh wait.
Sony is up shit creek.
Except with no paddle
Except with no paddle
With no boat more like.
I can conceivably see people literally suing Sony to death over this I'm not kidding, they could be bankrupted
Well, SCE would be.
Should i change my passwords?
Should i change my passwords?
No, just give me your account details instead, they're out there anyways.
No, just give me your account details instead, they're out there anyways.
Where is 'there'? I'd like more information on your unfathomable knowledge. [editline]1st May 2011[/editline]
Should i change my passwords?
And yes, if you share the same generic information, I'd change them.
One of my moron friends wants his parent's card info stolen, so he can sue sony. Is that the "American" way of getting rich quick?
One of my moron friends wants his parent's card info stolen, so he can sue sony. Is that the "American" way of getting rich quick?
Uh, no... that's just being fucking stupid and he has no concept of how the legal system works, nor how to successfully sue someone. Tell him he needs to be an independent in the case so that he doesn't just get 0.00001% of the allotted funds for damages, and that he's stupid. He's also dumb.
It would be nice if the "affected" people posted the location they lost their money, since it would be nice to know which Country the hacker is from.
I call bullshit on people losing money.
It would be nice if the "affected" people posted the location they lost their money, since it would be nice to know which Country the hacker is from.
like he didn't sell the info on the black market
Sony is up shit creek.
And their paddle is thoroughly rotted. And the creek is full of hungry ass Piranhas!
