Does PSN store credit card info by default? I've bought one thing only on the store.
Me to. And it was just 1 DLC pack for LittleBigPlanet. Man it sucks that this has to happen. Sony needs to actually do something useful.
Well, shit, this is going to be interesting. I wonder how many people are actually stealing this money?
Restricts everything? All they did was get rid of a useless feature, i understand people getting mad by that but that is no excuse to steal money from customers.
Who is to say the people that hacked it are the people that stole money?
Probably says somewhere in the EULA that they're not responsible for this.
Well, shit, this is going to be interesting. I wonder how many people are actually stealing this money?
Possibly alot of people. This is alot of damage for a small amount of hackers.
Me to. And it was just 1 DLC pack for LittleBigPlanet. Man it sucks that this has to happen. Sony needs to actually do something useful.
idk I think they're sorta busy with the whole network dealio right now~
You would be surprised how many people find it very difficult to punch a few numbers on their phone or punch a few keys just to access their bank account. Does your bank have fraudulent transactions? It should right?
Im not sure. Im not the bank whiz. We do have Bank Of America. So i really dont know.
Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) is also very mad about this ordeal. I hope when a United States fucking Senator demands answers, Sony had better get their asses in gear.
This is crazy. This is the one flaw that nobody expected. It was big when the servers were down, but now that many people are getting $80-800 stolen, this is BIG. Holy crap, lot's of people browsing this thread.
idk I think they're sorta busy with the whole network dealio right now~
Wouldn't peoples bank accounts be a little more of a priority than PSN?
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/04/sony-admits-utter-psn-failure-your-personal-data-has-been-stolen.ars Quick summary: For EVERY PSN user, your Name, Address, Date of Birth, Country, Email Address, Password, Login Name HAVE been compromised. Your CC number and expiration date (but NOT the security code) MAY have been compromised as well.
You're talking in moral form. I'm talking if sony is LEGALLY responsible.
Sony realized it was compromised for a while, and instead hid the knowledge from its consumers. Now, their consumers are losing money, and at the same time, Sony is losing revenue. Sony can be sued for with holding this information. Information that could have been used to save peoples' money.
Wow, Sony really fucked up this time.. I mean hot shit. Probably going to be one of the biggest shitstorms in the next week or so. I mean how can you POSSIBLY fuck up this bad? This is along the lines of "Sony is Done".
On Kotaku, yesterday, they said FBI may have issued 40 arrest warrants and there are some reports of UK people getting arrested.
You're talking in moral form. I'm talking if sony is LEGALLY responsible.
Sony is legally responsible for the security of the information you give to them.
welp. nothing can save sony now. damage control is out of the question.
^ This
Probably says somewhere in the EULA that they're not responsible for this.
Licenses do not override data protection laws.
On Kotaku, yesterday, it said FBI may has issued 40 arrest warrants and reports of some UK people get arrested.
I highly doubt such a delicate operation could be conducted so swiftly. If this is true, then perhaps Sony knew of the breach long ago, but withheld the information from the press to give federal law enforcement agencies enough time to make arrests.

Quite sad that PSN is more than likely done. I loved it before this stuff.
I feel bad for Sony. All cause of 1 little fucking thing a whole nuke just goes off. Money getting stolen. Teenagers saying "HOLLA HOLLA GOTTA DOLLA" and people starting to get pissed off VERY badly at Sony. Where shall i dig the grave of Sony?
My backyard

FBI confirmed they haven't arrested anyone in US yet~
Lol. Oh, they meant on top of the $300 stolen for actually getting one in the first place.
Well, shit, this is going to be interesting. I wonder how many people are actually stealing this money?
The ordeal in my opinion, wouldn't last that long anyways. Banks/Credit Agencies/Etc are going to notice the surge of fraudulent case reports and are probably going to start stopping/freezing/reporting accounts that have made purchases from Sony (PSN/Etc) for security. It is probably going to be hell for some banks to handle even a small fraction of the total number of fradulent cases going on.
Ill pretend to be the crazy one, and act as a PS3 Fanboy vs Xbox [Although I own neither] : I bet that Microsoft hired these hackers to eliminate the competition between the PS3 and Xbox.
But no.. Really? Guess Microsoft is going to make a huge profit off of this somehow.
For fuck sake sony, pull it together. Would have been nice if the PS3 had a wider market of games and was cheaper, but for some reason nobody is able to come up with an affordable console with good graphics and free networking.
On Kotaku, yesterday, they said FBI may have issued 40 arrest warrants and there are some reports of UK people getting arrested.
Jesus. I hope they find the fucker responsible.
