Well fuck maybe they should have felt the same way FIFTY EIGHT YEARS AGO.
Fifty years ago, North Korea and China were almost exact in politics and ideology. They've greatly diverged since then, and I think (hope) China is finally realizing this. [editline]30th November 2010[/editline]
While I agree with this, it may be necessary for us to have a token presence to ensure a fair balance of power between the new Korean (Southern) government and China. Basically, don't let China impose a ridiculously harsh treaty on Korea to allow reunification.
This is true. I hadn't thought about that. Maybe this is simply China picking the "winning side" before things go down in hopes of expanding influence so.
It may not devastate their economy... you saw how fast South Korea bloomed into what it is today, compared to North Korea in the same time span... so many investors, Billionaires, would just jump in on it that it wouldn't be much of a dent in the economy for the South, I don't think... Not only that you'll have a lot of countries pitching in
As nice as that sounds, it doesn't work like that. Even if NK was absorbed peacefully and there was no damage to either country SK would still inherit an entire country with hardly any economy and resources, and a starving population of 24 million. There's literally no gain whatsoever for South Korea if they reunited with the North.
You are totally correct about this, it's not end war news, in fact it could provoke war. Especially when it's North Korea. And yes, I hope the US doesn't become too involved, with the exception of a war. Unless China will help in the war, that'd be interesting.
The US should stay out regardless. If there is a war, it's not ours to fight, and I think it's about time that the world stops looking at us as imperialist/a global police force/whatever you want to call it.

I'm thinking this might lead to desperation on NK's end.
HURRAH! A unified Korea may happen! Good money says Korea becomes a US Unincorporated Territory though, considering the shit we've helped em' with and our alliance.
HURRAH! A unified Korea may happen! Good money says Korea becomes a US Territory though, considering the shit we've helped em' with and our alliance.
Korea, the 51st state. :patriot:
So the North basically has no support outside of Iran.
In any case, this is a good thing. :toot: [editline]30th November 2010[/editline]
So the North basically has no support outside of Iran.
Maybe Syria. NK can make friends REALLY FAST if it starts selling nuclear technology. (Just don't let them know that)
Korea, the 51st state. :patriot:
US Territory =/= Part of the Union ( USA ) Puerto Rico is a US Unincorporated Territory, and can vote for President. But they are not part of the Union as they are not considered a state.
WWIII postponed.
Fixed.
The US should stay out regardless. If there is a war, it's not ours to fight, and I think it's about time that the world stops looking at us as imperialist/a global police force/whatever you want to call it.
The odds of that happening though... :sigh:
I would allow it,just put me in to prison and i will have free food and a home erry day [sp]Just make my son fatter[/sp]
Nork's are shitting themselves right about now I would think.
The US should stay out regardless. Like that's ever going to happen.
WWIII averted.
There was never going to be a WW3 to avert, and anyone who says otherwise is a moron.
US Territory =/= Part of the Union ( USA ) Puerto Rico is a US Unincorporated Territory, and can vote for President. But they are not part of the Union as they are not considered a state.
They're a commonwealth. Technically, Pennsylvania, Virginia as well as three other "states" are commonwealths as well.
The US should stay out regardless. If there is a war, it's not ours to fight, and I think it's about time that the world stops looking at us as imperialist/a global police force/whatever you want to call it.
You'd make a horrible ally.

If there is a war, it's not ours to fight, and I think it's about time that the world stops looking at us as imperialist/a global police force/whatever you want to call it.
It's a hell of a lot more noble fight to take up than Iraq or Iran.
There was never going to be a WW3 to avert, and anyone who says otherwise is a moron.
If China had stayed on North Korea's side, it could have very well happened.
If China had stayed on North Korea's side, it could have very well happened.
An Asian conflict, yes but not World War 3
They're a commonwealth. Technically, Pennsylvania, Virginia as well as three other "states" are commonwealths as well.

In the terminology of the United States insular areas, a Commonwealth is a type of organized but unincorporated dependent territory.
:downs: Thank you for using a synonym for what I was saying. Most likely, Korea would become a commonwealth. Also, Virginia is both a commonwealth and state. Just as some of the others are too probably.
If China had stayed on North Korea's side, it could have very well happened.
No no no. Economic ties with the West, military inferiority and simply not being stupid enough to follow a lunatic dictator into war. Even if they did side with NK, the war would not involve anyone outside Asia and the US.
An Asian conflict, yes but not World War 3
Yeah, I guess you're right. Still would have been none to good for anyone.
Poor Kim, he's all alone now.
You'd make a horrible ally.
Last time people stayed 100% faithful to their alliances, World War One happened.
:downs: Thank you for using a synonym for what I was saying. Most likely, Korea would become a commonwealth. Also, Virginia is both a commonwealth and state. Just as some of the others are too probably.
It was just a technicality. I'm not claiming that Puerto Rico is not a state nor am I saying Pennsylvania is not one. It's "just for fun", really.
It's a hell of a lot more noble fight to take up than Iraq or Iran.
Without a doubt, and I think the USA should support it 100%, but China and her allies in the region are perfectly capable of taking up a fight with North Korea, especially with the USA's aid [editline]29th November 2010[/editline]
You'd make a horrible ally.
I only ally with people near me.

But yes, you are correct.
