• 'Get Windows 10' Update Turns Itself On and Nags Win 7 and 8.1 Users Twice a Day

I just figured out how to uninstall the popup thing. There are loads of guides on the internet.
I never get any of this. OEM win7 best win7
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
Tbh this whole adware horseshit is convincing me not to upgrade Microsoft are slowly making it a matter of principle rather than a matter of software
This is one of the reasons all my Windows machines are part of a domain. I can do as I please with Windows Update. Anyway, let's see how long it takes for everyone to decide I'm literally worse than Hitler because I actually care about privacy, freedom and performance rather than gleefully accepting MS's latest mobile OS like a good little boy.
You can't decide when to do updates and which updates you want, you can't fully disable touch-friendly bullshit (new personalization menu, start menu, etc), drivers and general stability is still worse than Windows 7, familiarity takes second place to "edgy" new design, and Microsoft has a shit business ethic that makes me personally vow never to upgrade just because of how hard they're pushing this shit on us.
"You can't revert Windows 10 to work and look exactly like Windows XYZ".
The only problem i had with Windows 10 is the memory leaks it usually have, i think its caused because of upgrading instead of a clean install. Aside from that, i didn't had much problems using it or running stuff on it.
I just figured out how to uninstall the popup thing. I was on the fence about just making the push to 10, but after Microsoft pushes borderline malware-esq attempts to get you to update, on top of the update itself sneaking onto Windows Updates and even trying to enable itself under "Optional Updates" without any input from me - I looked up a guide and disabled all that shit, and turned off Windows' Updates. I get why they're making the move. I get why its' a good new OS, but when something is pushed this obnoxiously in my face by my own current OS, my last reaction is to accept it. I'll upgrade when I need to, until then, fuck off.

But, I also upgraded my home computer a long, long time ago, after the first pop up window came up. I haven't had any pushy shit since accepting it so that's one small upside at least, right?
I just removed all the updates that install the nagger and told windows update to ignore them. Haven't had issues since. Personally I'm waiting for W10 to mature more before moving to it, currently a lot of drivers are of questionable quality on it and nothing I use actually requires any of the features W10 provides. Once things start to use DX12 and other stuff, is when I'll move, for now I'm happy on W7 and I have all my stuff on it, its supported until 2020 and by then I'll have moved.
It feels a lot like 'upgrade so we won't harass you about it' rather than 'upgrade because we made a great product'
yeah that's a fair assessment but I have the distinct memory of pretty much every W7 holdout screaming(i'm exaggerating a tad here) about how terrible W8/8.1 were/are so I don't know how much anything really was the answer here.
windows: hey bro did you wanna install win 10? me: ok windows: okay wait, it wont work on this machine sorry windows: hey bro did you wanna install win 10? windows: hey bro did you wanna install win 10? windows: hey bro did you wanna install win 10?
:v:
I just haven't upgraded because I'm lazy and not a fan of some of the changes from 8.1 to 10. I barely use Windows anyways so I guess whenever a DX12 game comes out that I want I'll upgrade.
"You can't revert Windows 10 to work and look exactly like Windows XYZ".
K then go ahead and find me Windows 7/8-style Windows Update, as well as a free Windows 7 start menu (and properly, not like practically all the existing third party solutions that steal focus from current window), as well as improved stability, as well as better nVidia drivers, as well as Aero theme that doesn't look hacked together with black pixels at the corners. Pretty sure you're gonna get stuck on that first one
What compatibility issues there are currently?
I mean with programs that only work on Windows 7 or 8. For the most part, I can usually get programs and games to run but there are few that don't work. And that's a little bit of a problem. For example (and this is not the only occasion) I tried to get Commandos 1 to work on Windows 10. But I can't. Says it's missing DirectX5. Other people on Steam also reported this issue. On Windows 7 however it works fine. Despite the weird speed issue.

From what I've read the other day (can't remember the source), every computer will be automatically upgraded to 10 this year.
From what I've read the other day (can't remember the source), every computer will be automatically upgraded to 10 this year.
Can't be done. A bunch of them like my dad's don't have big enough system reserved partitions (it was 100 MiB, 10 makes it 450 MiB) and the upgrade fails even if Microsoft decide to commit PR suicide and force it on them.
From what I've read the other day (can't remember the source), every computer will be automatically upgraded to 10 this year.
can confirm [editline]13:37[/editline] i have an uncle who works at nintendo that said the same thing
To be honest i wanna stick with Win 8 :pudge:
Ive tried upgrading twice, but both times Ive had poor start up times and performance.
Ive tried upgrading twice, but both times Ive had poor start up times and performance.
let's talk harddrives and run-at-startup garbage
why do people not want to upgrade?
I just feel it's 8.1 with a flat-ified UI (that I really don't like), a couple of new features I don't care about, negligible performance gains and a new version number on it. Not that compelling a reason for me to upgrade from 8.1, to be honest.
The settings windows are so fucking minimalist and ugly, its a pain in the ass trying to find the traditional settings, like the old wallpaper settings window instead of the ugly shit they have now Windows 10 has some cool features, but im staying with Windows 7 till it's not supported anymore, so fuck off microsoft
To be honest i wanna stick with Win 8 :pudge:
http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/ First download, go nuts.
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
Custom corporate VPN/RDP systems? Everyone I know who hasn't upgraded to Windows 10 can't because their companies' remote systems are either incompatible or IT won't allow Windows 10 clients onto the network to keep everything consistent. It kinda fucks over a LOT of telecommuters if Windows just decides to upgrade itself and employees can't connect to their corporate networks anymore.
From what I've read the other day (can't remember the source), every computer will be automatically upgraded to 10 this year.
If thats the case I'll switch to linux. Each iteration of Windows gets more and more dumbed down and the more advanced options continuously get hidden deeper into menus. I will wait till the day that MS stops supporting an OS before I upgrade to the next working version. Forcing users to upgrade would be suicide for them.
