The settings windows are so fucking minimalist and ugly, its a pain in the ass trying to find the traditional settings, like the old wallpaper settings window instead of the ugly shit they have now Windows 10 has some cool features, but im staying with Windows 7 till it's not supported anymore, so fuck off microsoft
Right-click Desktop > Personalize? Just like always?
yeah that's a fair assessment but I have the distinct memory of pretty much every W7 holdout screaming(i'm exaggerating a tad here) about how terrible W8/8.1 were/are so I don't know how much anything really was the answer here.
I still stand by my view that 8 was an abomination. There is nothing redeeming about metro. I fucking hate touch, and anything related to touchscreen interfaces. As far as I'm concerned that's the end of the discussion. 8 is measurably inferior for me to use. So I don't. 10 doesn't work. So I don't use it either.
The whole "Get Windows 10" thing only appeared on my PC for a month before disappearing. I don't even know what's going on with that.
MS can't really tell who does and doesn't want the upgrade, they aren't mind readers. A lot of Windows users aren't exactly computer literate enough to hunt this stuff down themselves. So telling them "hey this thing is here, want it?" is the easiest way to scoop up future security problems from that portion of the user base. They could probably put an opt-out in this, but you'd still have to be exposed to it at least once to actually opt-out. And going by the reactions some silly bastards have to these things, one time is too many times for their precious eyes.
There is a very big difference between announcing your product, which a big corporation normally just uses places where ads belong, TV, shitty websites, radio, billboards, etc. and literally force downloading and installing this thieving, barely functional botnet crap on a not consenting users computer. I built this computer, I own this computer, Microsoft does not, I do not want Windows 10, they should not force Windows 10 on me, I should not need third party software to get rid of a nag screen. End of story, or that is how it should be. Taking a dump on my motherboard is free, too, doesn't mean there is no reason not to do it.
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
Probably already been said, but the forced auto-updates are what turned me off. I upgraded and right off the fucking bat it shoved a GPU driver update on me that broke some of my games. It was tedious as hell to block it, and then I left my computer for ten minutes just to come back to it reinstalling the fucking update I just blocked with their official tool. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt over the auto-updates, but it demonstrated immediately the exact problem I was worried it would have. So fuck it, I went back to 7, which continues to work perfectly fine. Like most Windows versions, we'll probably have to wait for whatever the equivalent of a Service Pack 1 will be for W10 before it'll be decent.
The only problem I have had with Windows 10 is that my computer no longer recognizes It has Bluetooth.
The only problem I have had with Windows 10 is that my computer no longer recognizes It has Bluetooth.
similar problem happened with a wifi usb thing that a parent had on the laptop all i did was update the driver on the computer and it works
I have never had a single compatibility issue.
Look. I'm using a shitty, 2005 era Microsoft era webcam.
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
1: UI. UI is a subjective thing and a lot of people hate W10's UI. I'm one of them, I do not care for the new look and don't care for how hard it is to get a functional UI back in place. Honestly I haven't cared much for the new look since WinXP, but at least XP, Vista and 7 have classic modes I can turn on with a few clicks. 8 and 10 just don't want you doing that, and that's irritating. 2: Objection to the bullying and strongarm tactics Microsoft is employing to get people onto it. What they're doing here is, quite frankly, wrong. They're trying to force everyone to go to W10 by annoying the piss out of users that don't. 3: The lack of user control over their system. I do not care if my configuration is not what the optimal one is, it is my computer and it is my choice how to operate it. There is no arguing this, I bought the parts, I assembled them, I installed every single piece of software on it. It is mine in every single way the word could be defined. Any OS that tries to remove that choice from me is an OS I will not use. I am not alone in this sentiment, either, a lot of people don't want anything to do with 10 because of how difficult they've made it to, amongst other things, turn WU and UAC off. Thankfully, I don't update W7 unless the update absolutely needs to be there, so my computer's not going to be nagging me. The joy of turning WU off is I get to be pickychoosy with which updates my OS installs. MS can't annoy me with the nagware but that doesn't make it any less infuriating that they tried.
I'm pretty meh on windows 10. I've only had indirect issues meaning realtek being shit. For my wifi card I just had to tell windows to use an older driver the one provided by windows is newer and therefor windows used that by default but it's a generic driver and 5ghz was not working with it at all meaning my wifi was shite so rolling back to the old realtek one fixed it but that's just realtek being garbo at support had to wait aages for a new driver to use.
From what I've read the other day (can't remember the source), every computer will be automatically upgraded to 10 this year.
Mine won't be. I have WU turned off entirely and I screen every update before I let it download. They can't push it to my machine. And for good reason, I demand the right to choose which OS runs my machine. I choose W7.
Oh and an update for some reason switched my soundcard to the other output, other then 10 seconds of panic at my expensive sound shit being broke not to bad really. Also I have alot of stuff blocked on my hosts file I'm sure some of it breaks Microsoft's agenda.
After my install fucked up and I had to downgrade back to Windows 7, it never bothered notifying me about Windows 10 again. I'm going to wait until the whole free update shit is over and buy a licence myself, when I know the OS is actually stable and not a fucking invasive mess.
Considering I managed to get windows 10 to run on a 6 year old eee pc that originally ran XP and used an intel atom processor, and then ran teamviewer on the netbook fine, driver issues aren't something I'll believe that much that's not to say they don't exist or people won't have issues, of course
This is almost as bad as people getting mad at others over the internet because they run an OS that they don't. "hurr durr why won't you updaet?? win7 is old and win10 is newer and betar!"
driver issues aren't something I'll believe that much

that's not to say they don't exist or people won't have issues, of course
So which one is it? For your uses, it turns out to work fine. For mine (2x because two different computers) shit's fucked.

Just desktop / personalize window (screen in that video with the, y'know, wallpapers showing) / click button to choose wallpaper, unless it's already been used, then just click it on the row of wallpapers shown.
Well even when you turn off all the data collection services, it still spies on you. Not to mention it scans through your documents for "illegal stuff" and will silently uninstall software it deems illegal or pirated without your consent. Windows 10 has turned out to be an ad-riddled NSA honeypot that will always datamine you whether you want it to or not. Windows 8.1 with start8 is the last good version tbh.
I have been using it almost since release, and first time I hear about scans for "illegal stuff" and "deleting illegal/pirated software". I mean, I saw some "NEWSFLASH" about it, but it never happened to me... considering all the linux distros I download.
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
Probably because it completely fucks up my main PC every time I try, and my laptop can't be upgraded because Lenovo decided they were smarter than Intel and completely fucked up SSD caching making OS upgrades impossible without completely reconfiguring everything.
[vid]http://a.pomf.cat/kighzt.webm[/vid] ???
It's weird, it just doesn't work on my end. I rebuilt the index, still doesn't change anything.
My Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro doesn't get the upgrade offer. But then, I don't need that bloated crap anyway.
when i upgraded to win 10, a bunch of icons, options, menus started to disappear bit by bit, and more and more bugs kept appearing every day, some relatively new games literally caused the OS to bluescreen itself, it was like my win 10 was slowly going mad. weirdest thing ever, so i rolled back to win 7 and didn't look back.

For example people who installed a completely legit copy of Windows that was not pirated at all and activated it with a certain tool have an OEM key, and will not see the nag or have the auto download of Win10. At the very least, I haven't.
hahaha no
You can't prove it doesn't.
