Obama's about as liberal as Fred Phelps after his daily dose of the old testament.
Improving relations with China, the USSR, and ending the draft. He did a lot of good.
any president would be good if you only looked at what they did right.
any president would be good if you only looked at what they did right.
Your point?
I am not a fan of my governor, mostly because of his insanely terrible take on education.
Liberal? Yes. Incompetent?
Jimmy Carter? He's history's greatest monster!
The left doesn't even exist here. It's basically the center-right vs. the far right. A real liberal running for the presidency would be a fucking joke, they'd get nowhere.
Your point?
Nixon is generally perceived as bad
Obama the 'most liberal' president? Sounds good to me.
Obama isn't exactly liberal. The NDAA, execution of U.S. citizens, raiding medical marijuana dispensaries, almost completely ignoring the Occupy Movement, doing nothing about the dead end drug war, adding Wall Street bankers to his staff, and the extension of the Patriot Act are just a few of his completely right-wing moves. Liberals care about civil liberties and protecting American citizens and their rights. "I personally support gay marriage." It was a move for fundraising and a shot at trying to appear progressive. Finally he takes a liberal stance, if that is even considered a liberal stance anymore. Obama is hardly liberal or progressive. He's a moderate who honestly surrenders to Republican's most of the time. I'm not saying any other candidates right now would be better than Obama, not at all, but why do people insist he is liberal just because he is a democrat? Pay attention to his decisions.
And then he kind of fucked his image with Watergate.
watergate wasn't even that awful compared to some of the shit previous presidents have done nixon did a lot of good and brought about a huge amount of change. if any of his opposition had made it into his office we'd be in a different (worse) world considering he was the only one that didn't want to nuke the ussr
God... I feel so sorry for you Americans, Wanna exodus over here to Australia?
The left doesn't even exist here. It's basically the center-right vs. the far right. A real liberal running for the presidency would be a fucking joke, they'd get nowhere.
liberalism does not exist on the left-right political scale [editline]9th June 2012[/editline] you can be as left-wing as possible and not be at all liberal [editline]9th June 2012[/editline] not sure why it was necessary to rate me dumb just because you can't possibly have a rebuttal
Being a progressive is where it's at.
Jindal calling someone incompetent? Don't make me laugh. I am very tired of this guy running my state, but as long as the people are dumb, people will still vote his sort in every fucking time. [editline]9th June 2012[/editline]
I am not a fan of my governor, mostly because of his insanely terrible take on education.
Didn't he end up pissing off his own party because of all that? I haven't heard much about that in a while.
Obama isn't much more liberal than Bush.
It's really annoying when people use things like "liberal" or "conservative" as an insult...
Being a progressive is where it's at.
Three cheers for eugenics!
Three cheers for eugenics!
Not since the 60s at the very latest.
you lost me, chief.
He's referring the fact that Ford was President for a bit, between Nixon and Carter. However, considering that Ford pardoned Nixon for his crimes, I think it's fair to count Ford as Nixon's puppet(therefore not really a President on his own).
Not since the 60s at the very latest.
Sweden kept going until the '70s.
Well even then only centre-left by American standards.
Here in Norway he'd land in the political part called "Right." -- guess which political side they belong to. I bet you can't.
If some of these people caught on to how liberal Canada is compared to Obama, I'm pretty sure they would want to cut all ties with us.
I agree, our Conservative party can sometimes be more liberal than the democrats... Sometimes.
I mean, I've actually seen people saying that America should liberate Canada from our liberal oppresors... I wish I was joking.
I've seen those as well as a bunch of others that vary from just as bad to worse. It's amazing what people will say about countries that are different from their own. The ignorance is really astounding.
