Dammit florida man not again !
i thought florida was on the way to legalizing weed, or was it just decriminalizing it? i mean obviously the guy would still be screwed with that much marijuana, i'm just surprised everyone's saying it's still super strict over there

In November hopefully some change will begin here
for all we know, the man could have just been growing the crop for it's seeds. You can use them in baked goods.
yeah ok
In the source it says the police officer smelled a strong cannabis odor from his vehicle; here in florida that's grounds for you to get fucked.
Not really "here in Florida". It's everywhere in the United States that marijuana is illegal. The Supreme Court has ruled that an odor of marijuana is probable cause for an unwarranted search of a car.
What sucks is that officers will lie about smelling weed because it's very hard to prove. It happened to me, I think. Never consent to a search, kids!

That doesn't disprove the fact that every state has their own mandated laws along with the mandated federal laws. So yeah; it is "here in florida"
But I totally agree about cops taking any chance to 'smell the odor of MJ'
Better than nothing
Yeah, it's a step in the right direction! With medical up, I don't imagine recreational would be too many years behind it. With any luck, our Floridan children could be smoking pot by the bushel before they're out of elementary school.
yeah ok

Just get a cannabis-scented rear view mirror thing and blame it on that. Problem solved.
Am I the only one who never wears a seatbelt? Ive never been pulled over for this shit. And im on the road all the time.
Why are drugs or seatbelt violations illegal? Both are cases where you are the victim of your own crime it's fucking stupid.
This guy is an idiot, whenever I smuggle drugs across state lines I always hide in in a spare tire or in the frame of a trailer and vacuum seal it, that way it's completely odorless unless for some reason they get a k9. Pretty careless tbh if he didn't take any measures to minimise smell, dude is also a retard for driving dirty and not obeying every single traffic law, that's a beginner mistake.
If there's a lesson I've learned from the news, it is don't drive if you are a drug dealer

When you have pounds of weed it's obvious you're selling it, and if you're doing business in America and not paying taxes off your profit the government gets really angry.

Except in some seatbelt cases where you're driving with 3 people and none have seatbelts, now your stupidity is risking your life and three others.

Or rather, drive correctly.
Its always the little things that will get you.

I've taken trains and buses cross country, at random checkpoints they have dogs come and smell everyone's luggage. It's only viable if you're staying within your city and using their mass transportation. But for long distances you're better off driving.
gotta admit, sounds pretty badass to have an underground pot plantation.
In the source it says the police officer smelled a strong cannabis odor from his vehicle; here in florida that's grounds for you to get fucked.
EDIT:
clarifying a little more, the cannabis odor alone wasn't what caused them to search his house. Sealbelt violation to the odor to discovering the 5 pounds of MJ to the man giving police written consent to search his house
Florida has a very strict zero tolerance policy on drugs. Far more strict than who you can and can't shoot and kill, even

The only time this should apply is if they are minors or for some reason denied use of a seatbelt.
An adult should be able to choose not to wear a seatbelt (even if it's always the wrong choice)

He probably got the idea from the movie Pineapple Express
Thats messed up.
Hey, that's how police work. Probable Cause to stop you, a seatbelt violation is a legit one, a less legit one that they can use is anything hanging from your mirror, tinted windows, not using a blinker, all sorts of stuff. If they smell pot and are bored, they can just follow you until you give them probable cause to pull you over. Of course they could never admit to doing that, and everyone that has to go to court, that officer has to go as well. So they normally wouldn't do it because fuck that. Especially police that work midnights. Who wants to work a midnight shift and then have all those court dates to attend during the day. If the officer doesn't show up then depending on the judge, they will send officers to get your ass out of bed and drag you to court

Not for citations. They'll just reduce or drop the charge.

it can endanger other people's lives so no, they shouldn't
8/10, shoulda powered it by solar pannels, that way the power company would never have suspected a thing

you have to admit it's kind of interesting how he diverted power from a nearby power plant though; but I'm guessing it was really easy to see that something wrong was happening on the power grid
