True story: I've had this happen twice.
Please describe them.
im going to bomb the engitre facepunch
Please describe them.
The first time was because some asshole was sending pizza to my door in the middle of the night. The other time some asshole gets me fired because of serious bulllshit that was not even work related. I would prefer to not go in depth.
Most likely, they don't care. They probably feel like they're doing everyone justice by making this kid sit in jail like he's some kind of criminal.
Or they're trying to send some kind of message. Do we really have to watch what we say?

It's kind of scary to think that you could potentially fuck someone's life up just by hijacking their Facebook account..
Just signed the change.org thing. The person who called the police really should be told what she has caused a boy to go through all for a sarcastic comment made online. What confuses me though is why did American Police listen to a Canadian. I thought it didn't work like that unless you happen to be in that state?
It's kind of scary to think that you could potentially fuck someone's life up just by hijacking their Facebook account..
I find the fact that saying something so harmless can get you punished so harshly in the United States is alot worse. This alongside with the government monitoring American citizens illegally.
The person who called the police really should be told what she has caused a boy to go through all for a sarcastic comment made online.
Sometimes, I wish PI/raiding wasn't permabannable. [editline].[/editline] lol Aspen
god the prison system is so fucked and shit
He's been locked up since March for a fucking facebook post? I wonder how those fucks who keep him locked up sleep at night, knowing they are partially responsible.
She's probably the kind of bitter person that'd incredibly satisfied with sending someone to jail for months where they get beat up and humiliated because he said some mean things in a private conversation.
Happy fourth of July. Lets celebrate all of America's great accomplishments and wonderful freedoms. Hopefully the publicity of this case gets this guy out since League, one of the most popular videogames is involved.
Actually the most popular game in the world
I wonder if he's getting bum buggered.
I'll say it again, but I think the scariest thing is that it could happen to basically anyone Although how can someone can be arrested for a sarcastic comment is just beyond my comprehension. I mean, every bullshit in the world has some sort of logic behind IT, but this...just doesn't. I just don't get it.
This is completely screwed up, we're do we draw the line. The kid should of gotten a slap on the rist and that's it.
This is completely screwed up, we're do we draw the line. The kid should of gotten a slap on the rist and that's it.
A slap on the wrist for this? I'm pretty sure there would be no internet if we all got slapped on the internet for posting this kind of stuff.
This should really be THE case to talk about when considering slippery slopes.
I haven't been following the story, what is he actually being accused of?
I haven't been following the story, what is he actually being accused of?
He made scary threats after playing league of legends in reply to his friend and some lady pulled some Internet detective shit and now he's in jail before his trial for thoughtcrime.
That's their fucking job. They can't just say 'oh well, this is silly let's ignore it' because there inevitably will be a case where they ignore it and shit DOES happen.
I'd rather have that happen than have some kid get his ass kicked for making a joke. Just like I'd rather have a thousand murderers get away than have one innocent person executed.
"A witness to the conversation in Canada ..." Canadians are stereotypically overly nice people, it's totally fucking true. That person clearly wasn't born here.
Not long ago, a guy in my country posted that he was gonna blow up the presidential palace of my country on Facebook and he only got interrogated for a few hours.
Never mention you play LoL in jail, You'll get eaten up by the big boys.
i'm pretty sure i'll get a boxfort for mentioning this but, while its obvious what he said was dumb, it isn't THAT hard to see a bunch of middle-age dudes not used to internet, looking and saying, "arrest this damn terrirst". people online seem to believe saying this kind of crap left and right is ok lol, and the more average people that start using the internet, and the more games that start to become mainstream, the less acceptable this will probably get. also hell, i play dota which has a even worse community than league and i rarely get stuff like what this dude said. btw i not defending his arrest, which is utterly stupid.
y'know those people who say they believe in karma and that everything will always turn out okay for people? I don't know for sure but I always imagine that they never check up on the news because they'd be surprised at how much bullshit happens every day. That or they'd still think that this kid will get back on his feet and everyone in charge of getting him in prison will get what's coming to them, which is a nice thing to think, but it's really naive. I really doubt that the woman who reported him will somehow make a post like that and get herself arrested like in the ending of a comedy film, but, seeing as how people can endure despite horrible events, the kid might have a change of recovering. I don't know for sure, but it's a possibility.
"A witness to the conversation in Canada became worried." No, really!? CANADA! Go figure.
It really bothers me that a random Canadian woman can contact US police and have a citizen arrested for practicing free speech.
It really bothers me that a random Canadian woman can contact US police and have a citizen arrested for practicing free speech.
that's the part that bothers you huh not how naive and paranoid the police involved were not how awfully they're treating this dude no, you're offended that people from other countries can report criminals in your own?? why do countries matter at all in this case? the fact that a couple posters are getting so distracted by a small detail such as "how dare someone from another country report my countrymen!!" rather than the huge fucking injustice your own is perpetrating is ridiculous. It doesn't matter in the slightest where shes from.
Pretty sure the Local government get paid for arresting people..
I'm fucking shaking from anger over this pathetic half-assed bullshit, way to go murrca you saved the day again, everyone go suck some fat fucking donuts hurray way to rant, I know, but I'm sick of this shit Parakon if I as a Dutchie were to report a Belgian to the Belgian police they'd just laugh it off and continue to eat chocolate, or to the German police, or the Spanish police, whatever. The point is that this Canadian is NOT involved in this whole bullshit, the guy who made the post is a citizen of the USA, not a citizen of Canada. Different government, different laws, different system.
