GOOGLE is offering money in exchange for users' search history in a bid to "learn more about how everyday people use the internet".
This is interesting, but can't Google do some anonymous research how people use the internet?
Like, they wouldn't mention anybody's name, but they still could find out how many people go on to whatever fucked up sites there is, how often, etc etc. A lot of interesting data they could dig while keeping it totally anonymous.
it would all be facebook URL's and /b/ for me
We appreciate and are overwhelmed by your interest at the moment. Please come back later for more details.

it's a gift card for amazon, not money
I'd do it but I have no use for amazon giftcards.
I'd totally go for it if it was paypal, though.

Also, I would be in fucking heaven if I was a computer science teacher or cybercafe owner/clerk or something like that. Sneak the plugin into all the computers, profit.
Amazon Gift Cards?
Aww man, couldn't it be Steam Wallet money?
I'm doing it.
I clicked the link in OP but then what?
Do people seriously search for porn that much?
I mean with all these jokes about it I have to wonder why people search Google for such things when there's always just a thread for it right here on Facepunch.
All I use Google for is searching things in general, never porn. 90% of the time the result will take you to some dingey website.
Uhhhh
I don't think you want to know what I search google.
I'll go mow some lawns before I let you do that!
Hell, the notion that they think they can buy off my privacy is practically an insult.
It's really more of the notion that 14 year olds like what is essentially free money
It's just an incentive for people to give away broswer history so google can fine tune their search engine and other shit, if you don't want to do it, don't participate. That simple.
1. Make a google account
2. Sign up for program
3. Close everything
4. Get a new IP using TOR
5. Repeat
6. ???
7. Profit!
It's a trick to find the pirates :v:
Don't want $5 selling your privacy? How about:

The "products we invented" thing could be used with a thousand companies and Apple.
I love how there is an ~outrage~ against google's new policy. They could just make it pop up once and of course, nobody would read it they would just hit accept none the wiser and google would carry on with their delicious browser history. Instead, they notify people and tell them it's optional and everyone flips their shit. That and the fact that they physically can't and have no reason to track every single person that uses their site and dig up info about every shmuck that searches anything.
So I suppose you don't mind mailing me keys to your house and installing a trojan on every single computer you own? I guarantee you that I will not have the time to dig up info about you. If you think that argument is logical then I'm so so sorry.
I think we'll be able to sign up on March 1st?
Good thing I use different browsers for different things~.
IE: Everyday stuff
Firefox: Fap Fridays
Chrome: Downloads
Why would you use different browsers for different things? That's like getting rid of your smart phone in exchange for a basic mobile phone, calculator, pda, alarm clock etc

But isn't their new privacy policy just a merger of all their old ones allowing them to share info between services, so like my YouTube suggestions use info from my searches etc?
Or did the person who explain this to me explain it wrong?

This confuses me a bit, maybe its just a sign of how nice Google are. They could sit there and do research on the data they have without asking people, yet they are asking people and offering them money.
Wouldn't this be easy to abuse?
Everyone who does this should buy one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Body-Back-Company-12400000050-Massager/dp/B001IHXFQK/ref=cm_srch_res_rpli_1
They are amazing.

Because my roommates only know how to use IE. So if, by off chance they go on my computer, there is nothing they could find. And I do wipe my history, but cookies stick by browser. And Chrome is noticeably better at handling downloads than the other two.
I'm actually considering doing this. I mean, the occasional porn video isn't bad. Most of the threads that I browse on Facepunch and Reddit aren't that fucked up.

Tor is painfully slow.

IE for main browsing?
This is so enticing, but will I will not do.
I only use Firefox for porn so im safe!
I'd be interested to see what happens in court. Google is asking a minor to enter into a legal contract, which would be invalid.
