yeah, if weed gets legalized, it'll be taxed, then the cartels will sell it for cheaper, and they'll also get the added benefit of their product being legal. hell, they could even end up as suppliers for legitimate sellers. the cartels will still win.
Reduce it to the point where cartels would receive a very small amount of money for it.
stuff
it's pretty easy to infer that he means only shooting the drug runners, you can even get that out of the two things you quoted granted it would be difficult to distinguish drug runners from other illegals but this whole thing is hypothetical anyway
dealing drugs shouldn't be punishable by death
no, but when you've got illegals entering and leaving the country freely with assault weapons and illegal drugs, you have to do something
dealing drugs shouldn't be punishable by death
But there are other crimes these guys do that would warrant capital punishment if committed in the US. They don't carry those AKs just for show.
JDK wages yet another war, surprise surprise.
Most of the acts during the revolution didn't really increase taxes except for the Stamp Act. They just increased government regulation, and because Britain basically didn't give a shit about the colonies until after the French and Indian war, Americans were pissed that they were actually under sovereignty of England.
"Sir, the cartels are launching an attack on our outpost, what do we do?" "...Bring in the rednecks."
I just got the image of billions of plaid shirts ontop of 4x4 trucks holding shotguns charging Mexico with CCR playing Yep, it's time to go to bed I think...
I just got the image of billions of plaid shirts ontop of 4x4 trucks holding shotguns charging Mexico with Toby Keith playing Yep, it's time to go to bed I think...
Fixed it for you.
Texas supplied troops and equipment, and was a major port for supply lines. That's about it.
We also had some of the best cavalry units.
no, but when you've got illegals entering and leaving the country freely with assault weapons and illegal drugs, you have to do something
no one suggested to not do anything [editline]18th November 2010[/editline]
But there are other crimes these guys do that would warrant capital punishment if committed in the US. They don't carry those AKs just for show.
let me repost this again since everyone seemed to ignore it:
and no, the problem is the war on drugs. conservatives want to be "tough on crime" and won't even legalize harmless drugs like marijuana, but when violence increases as a result of their policies, their solution is "k let's deploy the military and secure the border"... as if that will solve anything. it doesn't solve shit. the real problem is the war on drugs.

okay, so you like the idea of deploying the national guard then what good would do that do
Intercept drug runners and border crossers. Drug Runners get busted, border crossers get deported.
let me repost this again since everyone seemed to ignore it:
ITT: JDK assumes that the drug cartels will magically disappear and everyone will have a gay old time with no violence or hatred or racism or any other bad thing in the world if only drugs were legalized everywhere.
Intercept drug runners and border crossers. Drug Runners get busted, border crossers get deported.
which does nothing to solve the source of the problem. and arresting/deporting people? it's an endless cycle. they'll be back or be replaced. respond to my post above yours.
How about this compromise...if you see an illegal alien crossing the border with a firearm, then you can kill them?
ITT: JDK assumes that the drug cartels will magically disappear and everyone will have a gay old time with no violence or hatred or racism or any other bad thing in the world if only drugs were legalized everywhere.
straw men paradise in this post an actual rebuttal might help
straw men paradise in this post an actual rebuttal might help
Use some critical analysis. It's there.
The fact that it's a war between civilians in a nation makes it a civil war. Also, Texas did pretty much the least in the Civil War as a confederate state. Actually it's not really even a civil war considering they're Mexican.
What we've got here, is a failure to communicate my friend...
How about this compromise...if you see an illegal alien crossing the border with a firearm, then you can kill them?
no [editline]18th November 2010[/editline]
Use some critical analysis. It's there.
not really all I see is a straw man
ITT: JDK assumes that the drug cartels will magically disappear and everyone will have a gay old time with no violence or hatred or racism or any other bad thing in the world if only drugs were legalized everywhere.
ITT: emperor dicks keeps making strawmen
no
Why not? Guns are illegal in Mexico, so we know they are breaking laws in 2 countries now...
ITT: JDK assumes that the drug cartels will magically disappear and everyone will have a gay old time with no violence or hatred or racism or any other bad thing in the world if only drugs were legalized everywhere.
no what he's saying is that these people that sell illegal drugs to make all their money wouldn't exist if there were no illegal drugs to sell but rather then the obvious solution morons like you think we should just CONTINUE trying to wage a pointless unwinnable war.
no what he's saying is that these people that sell illegal drugs to make all their money wouldn't exist if there were no illegal drugs to sell but rather then the obvious solution morons like you think we should just CONTINUE trying to wage a pointless unwinnable war.
And then there's "morons like you" who assume the "problem will just disappear" if all drugs were legalized. It won't.
Why not? Guns are illegal in Mexico, so we know they are breaking laws in 2 countries now...
that doesn't justify shooting them they have to be an imminent threat i.e. pointing a gun at someone
We're the only state that was it's own nation, and due to that we are allowed to fly our flag at the same height of the US flag and can secede without consequence at any time. We can support ourselves in almost every area of economy, and we're the second largest state. Yeah, you can fuck off. And in addition to the above post about oil, first helium wells located in the Panhandle of Texas.
Actually because Texas fucked up and joined the CSA which within a week attacked the Union, Texas lost its right to secede
no one suggested to not do anything
indeed, but your solutions are extremely short term and do not take the big picture into account legalizing drugs will not make all of this simply disappear, it will just make it easier for the cartels to do their business, and once they cross the US border they can operate with virtual impunity provided they don't do any of the other things cartels are well known for securing the border seems the best solution to me; having a legitimate and sizable force at the border would probably at the very least deter the cartels, and we'd be able to cut down on the illegal immigration problem as well.
that doesn't justify shooting them they have to be an imminent threat i.e. pointing a gun at someone
Being armed and crossing a border without prior authorization should be immediate grounds for deadly force, considering that's effectively a military incursion at that point
Are there any major rivers through that area? I suggest we find all of the natural water sources in the area, seal them, sign around it a "dry zone" and anything driving across will overheat/dehydrate (vehichles/people)
Holy shit what are you on. Hey guys, what's the most logical way to stop illegals from getting into the US? LET'S DRY UP THE RIO GRANDE [editline]18th November 2010[/editline]
that doesn't justify shooting them they have to be an imminent threat i.e. pointing a gun at someone
We shoot on sight for our citizens trespassing on our military installations. I don't see why people illegally crossing into a country should get a free pass.
We shoot on sight for our citizens trespassing on our military installations. I don't see why people illegally crossing into a country should get a free pass.
well that's easy, we'd be oppressing the little brown people
I can see it in my mind when they (Texians) face off the cartel and start shouting their "Remember the Alamo!" battle cry.
