And then there's "morons like you" who assume the "problem will just disappear" if all drugs were legalized. It won't.
lol ok so what you are saying that if illegal drugs which is the source of the drug cartels income and the reason they are always smuggling shit into USA were legalized the drug cartels would still exist? ok that makes sense especially when you look at all those bootleggers that are still such powerful criminal organizations
that doesn't justify shooting them
they have to be an imminent threat i.e. pointing a gun at someone
So what if I yell "puta tu madre" at them? They point the gun at me, so I shoot at them then?
So what if I yell "puta tu madre" at them?
they would hopefully correct your atrocious grammar
dealing drugs shouldn't be punishable by death
Going to respond to this one. 5-6 armed people + drug mules walking on US soil is not dealing drugs. Drones can see if they are armed or not, and if they are border patrol should have the right to engage full on. We treat other illegal immigrants decently.
So what if I yell "puta tu madre" at them? They point the gun at me, so I shoot at them then?
su madre es una puta
is what you meant
Now THIS is a war I would participate in.
I say we get the dogs.
[sp]Our hounds will tear zhem to schreads![/sp]
People being stuffed in dashboards to get across the border, Decapitating rival gang members... Yeah I don't like mexico very much.
Texas is a cool place to live. I know because I live 5 minutes away from the Alamo.
which does nothing to solve the source of the problem. and arresting/deporting people? it's an endless cycle. they'll be back or be replaced.
respond to my post above yours.
You're right.
Lets do nothing.
You're right.

Or ya know, lets go with the plan Texas and Mexico brokered and agreed to; widen and deepen the Rio Grande, but was blocked by the Federal Government on grounds that people trying to cross it might drown or some bullshit
Why the fuck when a State gets a agreement with Mexico to attempt to make crossing the border more difficult, someone from Washington DC has to step in and break it up?

Because mexican americans vote in favor of mexican immigrant rights. It is political thing.
Just look at Arizona, they have a perfectly acceptable law, yet everyone gets angry.
It gains political momentum because it gives you a mexican vote. Here in California elections are made on the mexican vote. That is how bullshit like the "Illegals get resident tuition" bills get passed.
You're right.

nice straw man
I already posted that NO ONE is saying just sit back and do nothing, and I've already posted what I think should be done

not really
legalizing racial profiling isn't a "perfectly acceptable law."

[citation needed]
Except the AZ law specifically forbade profiling.
Actually because Texas fucked up and joined the CSA which within a week attacked the Union, Texas lost its right to secede
I'd like a source for that information.
terrible idea
so just murder everyone who attempts to cross the border?
Coming from the guy that was murdered in Mexico.
Texas can secede any time they want, and I actively encourage them to do so.
I find it sad really. Being a citizen of Texas, I've had to sit through the state government's grand standing about border security and standing up to Washington. Both the Democratic and Republican candidates in the gubernatorial race earlier (Which Perry won handily) were accusing the other of not having a strict enough stance on border security.
I mean there's these horror stories about drug lords coming over the border and killing some one, but honestly it seems to've been exaggerated. When I went to El Paso, across the border from Ciudad Juarez where a lot of this stuff is going down, people didn't really seem threatened or showed fear- they were continuing their businesses and activities.
To be honest it's believed now that most of the drugs and flow are actually coming through the main border points now. There are even accusations that companies in Mexico (i.e. Maquiladoras) with Expedited Transit status are now being utilised by drug lords. Even those with out Expedited Transit are utilized- it is estimated that as per NAFTA's need to have a good flow of commerce, only 1 in 5 trucks are actually checked for their cargo beyond the usual weight and bomb checks.
All this to me is really grand standing because Perry- and other politicians- have managed to focus Texan attention on border security or big gubmint/Washington rather than the host of other issues in the state. The state is in debt considerably, I believe currently the state budget is in a $25 billion shortfall, and the incoming legislature (which only meets in a short session once every other year), is planning to focus most of that into education cuts.
The state of education in Texas isn't all that great, particularly in poorer areas that can't raise the funds via property tax revenue. Schools are falling apart in many areas, performance is falling across the board, and considering the current economic state, it's not going to improve much for the people affected by this.
More over infrastructure is screwy. A state big as Texas has lots of roads and powerlines, and in some areas they've begun to get dated or fall apart. Solution- tollroads!
So as we sit, Perry promises to do this and that, but wastes money in stupid endeavours like this in his dick-waving contest against the federal government and goes on a book tour. Great.

Read the law, they must be stopped for a crime in order to have their citizenship tested.
An example would be you get pulled over for drunk driving, they would need to see your ID, which according to the law is proof enough of citizenship.
If you do not have an ID they arrest you because guess what, it is illegal to drive otherwise.
the Arizona law is no different then the federal alw except in the fact that they make it mandatory to actually enforce it.

I voted for Bill but that was a futile attempt.
No they shouldn't, they should let them in
"Well hello there criminal, my that must have been a long walk north! Here have a nice cool beverage, a road map and 1000 US Dollars to help you on your way. Now run along you ragamuffin, go, off you pop"
Yeah that will clearly deter them.
It didn't legalize shit apart from mandating that while checking someone for warrants and accessing their criminal record like they do to fucking everyone they pull over, to also check the residence status of the person
I don't understand this logic that checking someone for arrest warrants is okay but the second you want to also check their immigration status it's suddenly racist and profiling
Also this "SHOW ME ZE PAPERS" crap is stupid, considering this law mostly effects those who are pulled over by the police, at which point you have to produce a drivers license regardless of what you did, and those already arrested, at which point you are required to identify your self so they can check for warrants
And the fact that mestizos make up a majority of illegal immigrants in the United States does not make them immune to laws that the rest of us have to follow, they have no reason to cry foul for having their immigration status checked much in the same way rest of us can't cry foul for the police checking us for warrants, or drunks crying foul over the police checking their sobriety
If you are a foreign citizen produce a fucking passport with a valid visa stamp
If you are a permanent resident, produce your fucking green card that you are mandated by federal law to have on your person at all times you are outside your home
If you are a U.S. Citizen, tell them your fucking name and date of birth if you don't have your god damn drivers license or if you can't remember the license number
Meanwhile irrelevant of all this, the Supreme Court already ruled 35 years ago that racial profiling is perfectly legal and constitutional for checking immigration status

I'll look that up since I remember hearing about it on local news a couple of years ago
Why the fuck am I being given medals? this is still Facepunch, right? I was expecting boxes and red Xs due to the fact I stood up against this stupidity that laws only apply to white people and jews and everyone brown is immune to said laws due to the fact they are somehow racist against them
I voted for Bill but that was a futile attempt.
I don't know, it just seems that with Perry having (R) next to his name and making a few token statements about big gubmint and states' rights he can win with no problem anytime. I think if we had a rock named Rick Perry he would win with no problem anytime.
But I'm more worried about the stuff the legislature is probably going to do when they convene. With a majority enough to pass about anything they want, it'll be no issue to get some of the more bad stuff through. Beyond wasting money on things like this and cutting education funding, I know one Representative has suggested they even bring the State's universities under the control of the SBOE.

That's odd, considering the State Universities are paid for with the leasing of the State Oil Fields for drilling, so how can that be running out of money?
