I don't like this
we've not participated in a war for hundreds of years (aside from sending support, but mostly in the form of NATO soldiers). Now's not the time to start joining in on them.
Let's stay neutral. Please.
Sweden was not really neutral. In terms of our actions were actually somewhat partial towards Nazi Germany at the beginning of WW2, and our allegiance shifted with the tide of the war pretty much.
Many pride themselves on traditional Swedish neutrality but our society's fear of the Ruskies is too deeply ingrained; if the situation got worse we'd likely opt become a NATO member long before attempting to appease Russia.
They need viking supersoldiers who are twice the size of ordinary men, they will rip the Russian infantry to shreds and disable the mightiest tanks that Ivan can throw at them.
Following these new tech trends these should be nanoviking supersoldiers. They also don't need much food and can be carried in a pocket.
Don't forget all the old swedish kings that went all the way over to Russia to wage war, that oughta' count as something.
That was back when people were still swinging sharp sticks and throwing rocks at eachother. Let us not forget nowadays we prefer to use compact thingamajigs that spit death at very high cyclic rates, we fly metal angels that drop bombs and ride in heavily armored infernal carriages of doom and destruction.
They said that before.
Look what happened.
Generally untested Blitzkreig methods with no senior NCO's that can operate independently (much needed for such a tactic) a change into a heavily mechanized and armored type of warfare, no radios, Finnish home field advantage (Cutting down telephone poles, cross-country Ski Infantry, Comradeship) and very few dirt roads which the Finnish liked to assault on any convoy passing through leads to massive armies dying to conscripts. The cold also didn't help.
Also the one I find the most (morbidly) funny is the Finnish used the same type of ammunition so after they were done slaughtering a column of troops on the road they could simply get their ammo back from the corpses of the Russians.

We helped both sides. We did help Germany by for example letting them use our trains to move soldiers to Norway and still traded with them even though we weren't supposed to. But we also helped Finland against the Russians.
We were technically neutral, but we did what we had to not to get invaded. We were a strategic country to have since we had iron and coal mines, so chances of us getting invaded by Germany were high unless we cooperated.

That man is the super soldier of super soldiers. Are there any good biographies out there of him? I'd like to read a good book that details his experiences during the Winter War.

Don't forget that we also had a large influx of refugee jews that a decent amount of people hid in their homes in Sweden.
Then again, we also had research on races and differences between races going on, which just helped approve Hitlers world view.
Sweden was very.. odd during WW2. We weren't neutral, but we weren't quite on anyones side either.
ryssen kommer
Same thing, right?
Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Norway, Skyrim...all just viking countries with funny accents!
I prefer the umbrella term "scandiwegia(n)"
the entire country of Sweden is actually a giant spaceship but don't tell the ruskies

But bigger. Powered by semlor and coffee
we like to joke that the russians are coming but in reality we're just gonna laugh maniacally while we power the main thrusters
Neutral light
Like, permitting german soldier to use our railroads in WW2, Sending volunteers armed with army weapons and half our airforce to help the Finnish during the Winter War, Having secret surveillance bases that also trained Norwegian resistance and so on
We claim to be neutral, but we do a lot of stuff behind the scenes
lets not forget Raoul Wallenberg

No screw you, KTH declares independence and secedes.
First order of business is annexing Stockholms Universitet.
It's not going to happen. Elections are coming up, people are getting concerned about the Crimea situation, add these toghether and you realise what's going on. Adding money to our defense budget? Yeah that's hilarious, they've spent the last 8 years cutting it down!
seems that the fear of finland going to be a target of russia in the near future, I won't be surprised. russia used to own finland.
The answer is clear. You need to construct a MegaZord.
do all ikea's have that?
I kind of expected this after the incident last year. Russians were escorting two supersonic bombers which were simulating attack runs against Swedish targets. That and since Russia is acting more shady then they normally do, it's kinda creeping them out. Granted Russians seem to like practicing bomb runs out of boredum...http://www.businessinsider.com/russian-bombers-practice-bomb-runs-on-neighbors-2013-11
Aren't Scandinavian militaries decentralized in a way that is difficult to wipe out in one fell swoop? It's important to remember that Russia's military isn't as great and mighty as it was in the 70s and 80s too.
Neat to see that they're thinking about this. These what-ifs, while a tiny bit immature and overdone, are p interesting to think about. Russia may have the manpower, but I think saying Sweden wouldn't last a week in a non-nuclear war is an exaggeration.
do all ikea's have that?
All the strategically important ones
The others just have copies of The Device
do all ikea's have that?
No. Others may have different forms of weaponry, like here in the U.S it's mostly psychological. For example a simple American such as myself would be putting together a piece of their flat-pack furniture, only to find that one screw or wooden stabilizer is missing. After putting it all together you find it among the cardboard somewhere and you pray to the Swedish gods that it will hold just fine without that one piece.
sweden has access to much better military technology than us, and they actually have a functioning air force
they got rid of conscription but it hasn't been too long since that happened, the reserves should still be usable

meh intercosmos was a big PR play for the U.S.S.R., they mainly launched them to salyut 6 then put the program on hold for 6 years
[editline]21st March 2014[/editline]
i imagine in the event of war though, all ikea stores would just transform into massive war factories turning out tanks with almost enough parts which is fine since the soviet...er russian tanks probably don't have enough parts either
do all ikea's have that?
Yeah but we have a treat with Sweden, so they all act as missile defense here in the states :v:

No they don't. They have 60 Gripen with one early warning aircraft and one tanker. Everything else is either horribly outdated, transport, or training. That is a speed bump, not an air force, to Russia.
Here is a fun metric for determining if a country has a military that is worth a damn: Look at their gunship helicopter.
If they have a dedicated proper gunship, then they probably also have a real military. If they have some transport that they stuck guns on and called a gunship, then they have a mediocre military at best. If they don't even bother, then they are Canada and nobody blames them for not bothering with a military.
