Slippery slope arguments are fine, but lets put this in context: [b]They sent her a letter informing her of this/called her. The administration alone cost money. [/B] Why don't we add up all the penny's and dollars that costs insurance companies too, eh? It's a fucking penny. A fucking penny. It was not worth informing about, worrying her about, or even bothering to look at paperwork for. That. That is what is stupid. So before any more smart-asses make stupid comments about 'penny's count'. They don't. Not in human consideration, not in financial consideration.

The medical system was funded by the taxes we all pay that was more my point when I said your parents had paid for it already and all you said was "it was free" and I was more stating it for people who maybe didn't know we paid higher tax to compensate though I am sure no one here was stupid enough to not know that. Our system is miles from being perfect and the same goes for the system in the US, we shouldn't bother gloating about the NHS but this is from my personal experience that I feel so negatively about the NHS even if it has positive points. That's all I'm going to bother leaving it at because we both seem pretty dead set in our views, and that's cool.

A free health care system is not free. We all know this. Stop going on about it. What it DOES do, however, is remove the strain, worry and financial burden from the individual. Nobody has to worry about cost or coverage when they're ill or have an accident.

I think it would be better that for a certain amount (like a dollar or so) if you underpaid, they would send you a letter letting you know of such and that you would have to make up that premium on the next bill (or earlier). But if you do it too much they can remove coverage. Seems fair, and it also protects from lawsuits, because it's not an 'exception'.

Even if she was insured, she's still getting anally raped for everything she's worth. The entire point of cancer treatment is to bleed you and your insurance dry while keeping you complacent until you pass away eventually and some other sad sack comes and takes your place on the milking line. I still firmly believe there won't be a cure for cancer ever due to how much more profitable it is for Big Pharma to simply treat it.

This is sort of a bad example of how insurance companies are corrupt. She underpaid by a cent, meaning she didn't pay her premium, meaning they have no obligation to provide her insurance which she legally didn't fully pay for. It's an dick move, but it's not like they pulled her insurance for no reason.
