How long will it take to fail?
Cool. My 360 died a while ago and I've been meaning to replace it
Not hating on the Xbox. they just have a small margin for failure what with the insides themselves capable of heating up enough to cook a gibbon
RROD was practically eliminated in late 2008 with the release of the new Jasper chipset
Then how come my 2008 xbox died twice in two months?

18:47 - Joazzz: agreed. I thought that the red rings would be enough to convince other people NOT to get an Xbox.
18:47 - Spooncods: now they've announced a slim.
18:47 - Spooncods: which is black.
18:47 - Joazzz: saw it
18:47 - Spooncods: so it's got 3 things for failure:
18:47 - Spooncods: it's black so it conducts heat and sunlight more.
18:47 - Spooncods: it's compressed into such a small package that the margin for error is astoundingly small.
18:48 - Spooncods: if anything blows inside such a small thing. GOOD LUCK OPENING IT UP TO CHECK.
Yeah, because an issue that was fixed 2 years ago is a good reason not to buy one.
Fucking gay, every single time I buy something, a brand new cheaper, better version comes out. I spend ~500 dollars to make my xbox playable, and now they make something that does the exact same shit that I had to buy, but it does it better. I want to trade my shit in, and at least get a 200 dollar discount.

It still heats up enough to cook a whole gibbon.
I'll probably end up buying one. Being military brat means I move a lot, and my shit takes a beating. When my N64 got wrecked during one such move, I stopped buying consoles. When the PS2 made a Slim version, though, I nearly nutted myself and bought it, because I finally had a console I could very nearly carry around with me, and not have to worry about it being poorly re-packaged and stuffed on a container ship by a pack of underpaid wage monkeys or something.
XBox 360 was awkward, especially with the power supply. PS3 was huge. Wii, despite being small and a pretty fun system, is still honestly just a gimmick to me. 360 Slim is definitely on my buying list right now. We'll see how it does in 6 months.

When you cram it into a confined space or put it directly onto a shag carpet.
Thank God i didn't buy an Xbox today, i wouldv'e wasted money.
I have a non-jasper 360 and from like 2007 and it still works.
Mine (also from 2007) broke just recently.
I got this new thing called a PC. It's got all that, but it can do a lot more.
I'm definitely going to buy this. My xbox 360 just broke so this is great timing.

The 360 is easier to use for dumb people.

Sadly it can't play nicely for 300$

Is it the JASPER chipset?
If I got the RROD while these are in stores, would they replace my model with one of these?
ps2: huge chunky console, second version made smaller and cheaper.
ps3: even huger chunky console, smaller version/reduced memory, somewhat cheaper
xbox360: on the large side, made smaller and looks cooler.
Then suddenly

BPOD
Bad photoshop of doom.
More like bad paint edit :v:
Why can't they just make a design as good as this when they first release a console? is it to make money or are they just stupid?
It's a bit smaller, different fan layout so it's quieter, it's got more USB slots. Got AV and HDMI instead of one or the other. Surely they could've done these things back when it was released?
another add on... good job microsoft dumbfucks
How long will it take to fail?
a few years. This thing appears to be built seamlessly.
So you guys don't get mad at Sony for making a slim version of the PS3 but you get mad at Microsoft for making a slim version of the Xbox, what's up with that?
Doesn't the PS3 Slim have stripped down features, whereas the Xbox 360 Slim has more features?

I thought the Slim had added features too. The smaller versions always seem to have added features.

you mean stuff it should have had before?
It looks so mouthwateringly delicious
I like the glossy case and fuctionable side vents for non-retarded cooling.
I had a release day 360 for the longest time, why don't people do regular maintenance to all computer components? Upgrading fans, air dusting and changing thermal paste every year or so greatly increases life span and quality of computers, Microsoft even repaired it after I refitted it to stock and put it all nicely back together when it died to neglect and Halo 3 failure.
It's a damn computer, treat it as such.
I'm not paying $300 for shit that should have been on my elite model in the first place. Sorry microsoft, nice try but you caught on just a TAD too late....for me about 3 years too late.
