They need to make a hand-held instead.
Looks like a PS3 combined with an Xbox.
I still have the same Xbox 360 I bought when they came out. First shipment unit. Hasn't RROD'd on me, though it's getting a bit finickey.
We've had a good run together, but I recently got a HD TV and the first shipment model doesn't have HDMI.
I shall get this lovely looking new Xbox once I can afford it :v:
Now get back to making Xbox 3 Microsoft.
This Xbox is nice, but if you already have one I wouldn't waste your money. Pretty much it's just less ugly and noisy of a machine.

Better hardware, more quiet, kinect-ready, and just a whole bunch of other stuff.
Going by your logic, you can say that to anything, like Apple's iPod, Touch, etc. lines, what's the point?

Oh, my bad. I misunderstood what you meant.
And yeah, I agree. "Slim" seems a little pointless.
I'm pretty much 100% sure they will make a varient of this, possibly the exbawkz 360 elite slim, which will be black with a green trim and have all the things you would ever need for it and performance upgrades for the exact same price in 3 months prior to the release of this one.

Worth it if you don't already own an Xbox 360 since it don't have a half-assed cooling system like the original and elite 360's
It's hard to tell by just pictures, but it seems like a short but chunky Xbox.
You have got to admit though, it looks sexy. And the improvements on it are probably pretty good too, in terms of hardware.
Also, up close it is probably both shorter AND a little bit thinner than the normal Xbox.
But still... a couple of milimeters isn't good enough to call it slimmer... lol.
I still want it though :P

Why does it need to be quiet?
You spend a massive amount of your time on a games console blowing things up and the sound from your TV easily blocks out any cooler fan noise a console makes.

too bad using HMDI is pretty much worthless since the output from the xbox is only upscale to 720p\1080p

That it is only true for some games. Halo for example runs at a bit less than 720p because Bungie can't code a good engine. Portal for 360 for example runs at full 1080p.
I would get this, just so I can play with all my friends who are xbox guys but I might as well wait until the next xbox comes out.
yeah I don't really get the point of this. what is there besides the chrome plating, kinect, and a bigger hard drive? why don't they focus on making a new console instead of slightly improving an old one?

Because a giant multinational hardware/software corporation can't work on more than one thing at one time
This had to be done to shed the bad reliability image and reduce costs
I like original 360 because if it gets smashed there is a chance you can still grab the hard drive.

This generation will last longer than the others due to online connectivity. Take the NXE, if it was in the previous generation it wouldn't be possible.
