You gotta give this kid a hand for being so adventurous
Not the first time this has happened.
It was ripped clean off!
:(

Because you're a toddler?
Because you're a toddler?
Well, he has the maturity of one...
I'm honestly worried about the mental state of the toddler.
He might form a phobia of washing machines, now.
As sick as this sounds, I was hoping for a picture.
i guess he thought his mom needed a hand
As sick as this sounds, I was hoping for a picture.
I think I saw a picture on a different article.
If I were the parents, I would be suing the washing machine manufacturer for quite a large sum of money for compensation.

I know its the daily mail, but it has pictures of the kid after the accident.
Figure the door switch got gummed up and didn't click off when the door opened?
Crazy.
Aren't washing machines supposed to have a fail safe system just in-case the lock breaks?
what a shame.
Even with the door open it still seems like something weird was going on with that machine if it somehow resulted in severe injury to a toddler, specially if it was one of those front loading machines, I suppose his arm got caught up with one of the spinning clothes, wrapping around it and severing it.
Another case of unrepairable avoidable injury, it's a shame that child will have to learn how to live without a limb over something as seemingly trivial as this, but one should be glad it didn't turn out worse.
woah
that's really, really horrible. I can't imagine the mother's reaction to that.
Probably the same as your avatar.
How the fuck is this even possible?
:smith:
9/11 never forget.

Hope he wasn't left handed, that would really fucking suck.
Wait what?
I don't get it, how a washing machine ripped off an arm (even infant's)
Or maybe he put his hand right in the spinning clothes, and it kinda got stuck in there?
I never trusted washing machines.
Holy shit that would hurt
like
fuck.

This makes me wonder if they jury-rigged the washer to work. My family had a top-loader that was quite old and we couldn't afford a replacement. One day the motor died in it so my dad bought a replacement motor and repaired it himself. The only problem is that it also deactivated the safety shut off when the door is lifted open. It was also a more powerful motor for a different make so the machine literally sounded like a jetliner taking off during some cycles. :v:
It even shook the machine so hard that we had to push the washer back against the wall after every load.
Fucking ow. On the plus side prosthetic technology has come really far and by the time he is 18 he will most likely be sporting a fully functional bionic arm, skin sense and everything.
Whoa tiger hold on there, lets tackle the issue of reliably connecting to nerve endings first. . . And allowing full range motion. . .

Except it's the rental center's fault for not maintaining the machine or the owners for breaking it etc. . . Why would you sue the manufacturer?

Usually the motor behind those operate from 1/3 - 1 hp and while that doesn't seem like a lot it is enough to injure people, more so with a full load of wet clothing acting as a flywheel and a child with their softer, under-formed skeletal structure.
I can't imagine this at all
When he is older and meets new people,
"hey how'd you lose your arm?"
"washing machine"

Well on its way.
